You got up and faced her. "I just, I wanted to see how you and Ethan were doing after the game." You softly replied.

More tears fell from Mayas eyes. "He worked so hard for that scholarship. And now it's over." She cried out.

You melted when she said that and pulled her in for a hug. "Hey." You whispered, sad for Maya and Ethan.

"Maybe it doesn't matter as long as you go somewhere." Was the last thing you wrote in your journal.

"Kate Parker to the Principals Office." Alaric said over the P. A. system.

You had just walked into the school when you heard that so perfecting timing, well you're guessing it's perfect timing. You walked into the office to see Ric drinking a cup of coffee. "P. A. system? It's a little dramatic, don't you think?" You walked further into the office.

He turned around and looked at you. "Not as dramatic as the message Landon left me, saying he had something urgent to discuss." The older man stated. Alaric held onto his coffee and sat in the chair "Anything you want to share?" He questioned you.

You sat down in a chair and rested your feet on the desk. "Only that I'm pretty sure the monsters are after him this time." You tilted your head at him.

"And you didn't think that that's something I should know?" Alaric said, a bit mad you didn't tell him.

You weren't phased by his anger. "More like I was afraid of what you were gonna say after that." You responded.

Alaric let out a sigh, looking away from you before back at you. "Kate. You need to go back to the Salvatore School." Alaric stated.

You rolled your eyes, letting out a scoff. "That was it." You said, pointing a finger.

Alaric looked between your eyes. "Not for your sake. For theirs." Alaric said, leaning forward. "Maybe Landon isn't that important to you. But if Malivore wants him, we need to want him more." Alaric explained.

You moved your hair out of your face. "Look, I will take care of it, but from a distance." You responded, basically glaring at him now.

Alaric let out a breathe. "Okay, what am I missing here, Kate? Hmm? You told me the truth, and everything worked out fine." Alaric stated.

He was right but also wrong. "Not the whole truth." You took your feet off the desk so you could sit up right. Alaric hummed in response for you to continue. "Landon and I..." You hesitated. "we grew up together in foster system, he's my brother, my... other half. The type of love you have for a sibling. Like, real love for your siblings." You started explaining. "It's not like the epic love, if that even exists, that Hope and I share, it's... more." You tried your best explaining.

Alaric smiled as you explained. "I can assure you it does." He was referring to the epic love.

You looked down at your fingers. "Now he's with Josie, not that I care but neither Josie or Rafael known the relationship him and I have, well, had." You started explaining again. "And I'm just afraid that if I tell them, she's gonna hate me or he will hate me forever or Landon's gonna hate me or I'm gonna hate myself because I made us all miserable. So I can't tell them." You started rambling, looking up at him. "Not yet." You shook your head.

Just then a knock was heard at the door. You looked behind you and saw the officer that has a crush on Ric. "Sorry to interrupt." She said as she walked forward and into the office.

You got up in a hurry. "No, it's okay. I was just leaving." You looked back at Ric, raising your hand before lowering it. "I will see you at the pep rally." Turning around you left for the door.

"See you there. I hope you consider the transfer. I can put in a good word for you at the Salvatore School." Alarics voice got louder as you got further away, but you didn't pay attention and just walked out of the room, leaving the two adults by themselves.

Hope walked with Rafael and Landon to the door of Mystic Falls High. "You sure we should be doing this?" Rafael asked, on edge.

Landon looked at his brother. "If Dr. Saltzman thinks he can ignore my calls like we don't live in the same town, he's got another think coming. Namely monsters, because if they're back and after me now, I must've done something to screw up the night the Malivore pit went dry. And if I can't remember any of it, we need his help to figure out what changed and how to fix it, or we're all in danger." Landon just kept rambling. "Are you even listening to me?" He questioned Rafael.

Hope stared at the two. "Yeah, I'm always listening." Rafael replied, a little on edge.

"Well, do you speak anymore?" Landon questioned.

Hope grabbed Landons arm. "Landon!" She had authority in her voice.

Landon looked at Hope before looking back to Raf. Hope let go of his arm. "I-I mean, ever since you got back to school, your sentences have averaged three words each." Landon stated, all of them coming to a stop.

Rafael looked between Landons eyes. "That's not true." He responded.

Landon held up three fingers. "That's three words." Hope forcefully put down hand hand as it was rude. "I know you say you're fine, but you were stuck as a wolf for a pretty long time." Landon continued.

Rafael looked away from Landons eyesight before looking back. "Yeah, and I'm back now. So it's all good." He replied.

"Thanks to Hope and Kate." Landon responded, patting Rafs shoulder before walking off to go into the school.

Rafael smiled lightly. "Yeah, Kate was pretty incredible." Rafael responded.

Hope felt a burning sensation in her stomach and heart when he said that. She had to admit, she was annoyed with the way he was speaking of her girlfriend but then again, he doesn't remember because of Malivore.

They walked through the hall of the school. Rafael was checking every classroom, probably searching for Kate. "So that is why you came with us." Hope spoke up, a little bit of anger or annoyance in her voice.

Rafael turned around to look at Hope. "What?" He questioned, acting oblivious.

Hope crossed her arms over her chest. "You just want to see Kate again?" She questioned.

He shook his head, denying it. "No. I, um, want to stop these monsters from getting to Landon." Rafael tried covering but cracked. "And if we see Kate, I mean, that's-that's cool, too." He responded.

Jus then the bell went off, students coming out the doors. "Yeah, it would be cool, too." Landon cut in. A jock from Mystic Falls High pushed into Rafael, and just then he started acting up as he turned around. "Hey, are you okay?" Landon questioned as Rafael turned around.

Rafael kept looking around before running off past Hope and Landon. "Raf? Raf?! Raf?!" Hope and Landon watched as he ran off, following him. "Slow down!" Hope called.

Hope and Landon stayed on Rafael's trail but watched as a jock collided with Rafael and he stopped. "What yourself, bro." The jock said before walking past Rafael, Landon and Hope.

"Go fail chemistry." Landon told the Jock. Landon and Hope looked at Rafael, he was acting off, more off than usual. "Hey. I shouldn't have asked you to come with me. We can go-" Landon became quiet as Rafael turned around slowly and faced the two of them.

Hope looked a bit scared. "Raf?" She asked but he didn't response, instead her started growling and both Landon and Hope started walking backwards. "Raf." Hope said more sternly.

Before Rafael could do anything you came from down the hallway. "Scalare!" You chanted, raising your hand and pointing it towards the wall, causing a gate to close the gap between Rafael, Hope and Landon.

Rafael went to lunge, only to be thrown back from the force of the gate closing and his reaction time. Both Hope and Landon looked back at you as you walked forward, in between the both of them. "Kate." Landon and Hope said at the same time.

He looked at Raf. "How are you always in the right place at the right time?" Landon asked.

You looked down at Raf as well. "That's funny. I was just thinking the exact opposite thing." You sassily said to Landon.

You watched as Rafael started waking up in the boot of a car from passing out. "Ad Somnum." You put your hand in a fist as you chanted, Rafael falling asleep straight away. You then turned around and stared at Landon. "What were you three even doing here?" You questioned Hope and Landon.

Landon looked between your eyes. "Looking for answers. And I guess..." He trailed off. "You." He responded.

You mentally rolled your eyes and slapped your face as you looked over at Hope. Alaric moved to shut the boot door so no one saw Rafael. "Dad?" A familiar voice was heard.

All of you looked over to see Josie with a weird dressed up person. "Josie. What the hell's going on?" He questioned as he saw the man.

The guy then started speaking Japanese and you were so done with this day already as you put your head in your left hand. "He said: 'We came to protect the bonsai-headed boy.' I think." Landon looked at Josie, confused, before smiling. You lifted your head and looked at the guy before to Josie. Josie said something to the guy in Japanese and he responded with a grunt.

He then looked at you. "That's Japanese for: 'What the hell is she doing here?' " Josie questioned, basically glaring at you. You just looked at her before looking over to Hope. Alaric walked forward while you walked back to stand next to Hope. "Just because she's supernatural doesn't mean we can trust her." Josie stated. "I mean, she shouldn't be here." Sounded like she doesn't like you.

Alaric looked back at you before speaking up. "Look, I will take all the help I can get. Even from... him." Alaric looked past you and Hope to the Japanese guy. "So ask him to tell us everything we should know." Alaric then looked back at his daughter.

Josie did what she was told. "Kurutta-san." She said and he got up, starting to speak, walking past you, Landon, Hope and Ric. "Dropped on his head as a baby." Josie started translating. "Samurai school to learn discipline." She then looked over at him as he stood next to her. "He learned to slay Oni demons, which is what we're chasing. He was a hero. All the women begged to-" Josie cut herself off.

The Japanese guy started swaying his hips back and forth, you and Hope looked at each other, disgusted. Josie yelling at him in Japanese to basically stop. "Kurutta-san, I don't even know that word, but it cannot be relevant." She stated.

Alaric let out a small sigh. "Josie, the point. Let's get to it." Alaric told her. Hope looked down, slightly smiling as you felt a bit sick from seeing that.

Josie nodded and the guy started speaking again. "Kurutta spent months tracking down an Oni that possessed people, moving from person to person by touch." Josie started translating. "He was just about to kill it when it found its way into the body of a child and escaped him yet again." Josie paused as he continued speaking in Japanese. "He gave chase and caught the demon." Josie paused.

"But he could not bring himself to harm an innocent child." She continued. "So, instead, he made an impossible choice and he took the Oni into himself. But it was then that he realized, unlike everyone else who had been possessed and remembered nothing, he was still partly in control of his faculties. He thinks the Oni found it harder to possess his broken mind." Josie looked at everyone before back to him.

"His words, not mine. He tried to stab himself with his sword, and the Oni wouldn't let him." The guy looked down as he continued explaining. "So he decided to never touch a person again." Josie looked over at you guys before back to the guy, telling him something in Japanese. "So that it could never possess anyone else. And then Malivore, eternity of nothingness, deep psychological torment. He came through an 'ana'. I think he's talking about a portal." Josie stated, looking at Landon.

You and Hope shared a confused look. "Portal?" You repeated what she said. "Uh- Where?" You questioned, tilting your head at Josie.

Josie looked over at you. "Uh, sorry, the ancient samurai isn't an expert on Mystic Falls geography." Josie fired back with a sarcastic tone.

You rolled your eyes and looked over at Hope. Hope just shook her head, basically saying to ignore her. "How do we kill the... the demon?" Landon questioned.

Josie was quick to answer, are they together or something? "Uh, with his sword. It's spelled with a special kind of magic, so if we can just find the Oni." Josie trailed off, knowing everyone else was thinking the same thing.

Just then the car started moving around and crashing was heard from Rafael on the inside. "Not a problem." Hope replied.

The Japanese guy took out his sword and went to kill Rafael but he jumped over the sword and behind him. The guy spoke in Japanese and went to attack Rafael again. "Wait, no, no, no, no!" Alaric yelled, trying to stop the guy.

Rafael dodged all the attacks. "Motus!" You chanted and brought the sword out of the guys hand and catching it. They then did hand on hand combat but Rafael threw the guy into the bus, running off.

The guy spoke in Japanese, obviously winded and out of strength. You let go of the samurai sword and placed it on the ground. "He said that could've gone better." Josie looked back at all off you.
