RECAP
You looked between Hopes eyes. "I was sorry, but now I'm vindicated." You responded.
Hope rolled her eyes, turning around. "All right, Lizzie, Hope, you keep an eye on the contestants. MG, Landon, we're gonna search the campus." Alaric put you guys into groups. "Kate-"
You cut him off. "I'm gonna go ask Roman questions now that I'm fired up again." You stated, walking off, rubbing your arms as you were cold.
You felt eyes on you but one stood out and it was most likely Hope. "Yeah, super helpful." Hope yelled. "Ask a vampire how he turned a woman to stone." Hope sarcastically said.
Alaric cut in. "All right, everyone stay alert and be careful out there." He called so you could hear.
ââââ
You shook your head as you walked off. But then you found Roman and went up to him. "Hey." You said.
He looked down at you. "Hi." He responded, unsure why you were speaking to him.
You let out a breathe. "Mind helping me look for a person or something that turns people to stone?" You questioned and he nodded. You two turned a corner when you started speaking again. "So this has got to be weird for you. Lot of emotions coming up, been a while since you've seen Hope." You stated.
Roman looked around unlike you. "I thought we were supposed to be looking for the boulder bandit." Roman replied.
You came to a stop. "Yeah, about that. Are you sure I'm not looking at him?" You asked as he turned around.
Roman scoffed as you made that statement. "Uh, yeah. Yeah, you solved the case, Sherlock. I'm gonna turn the entire school to stone, steal a horse from the stable, and Hope and I are gonna ride off into the sunset." Roman sarcastically responded. You looked down then back up at Roman. "Stop beating around the bush. Ask me what you really want to know." You went to ask but didn't.
"Do I still have feelings for Hope?" He said the question you wanted to ask. "Yes, of course I do, and I always will, but she would never get back with me. And, look, you don't have to trust me on this, but you should definitely trust her." Roman said before walking off.
You sighed walking into the school and to the twins' room. The door was open and you heard them speaking so instead of walking in, you decided to eavesdrop even though you knew it wasn't right. " 'Though I still struggle daily with a profound sense of l-loss...' " Hope trailed off. "Lizzie, um, why are all the answer that you've prepared for me about death and grief?" She inquired.
Lizzie breathed out as she placed a box on her bed. "The answers aren't just for you, they're for Kate as well." Lizzie stated which you could just tell Hope rolled her eyes too. "But the Q and A portion of Miss Mystic Falls isn't just about A-ing the Qs, Hope. You, Kate and Dana's mom have a lot in common. She lost Dana, you lost your mom, your dad. Kate lost her mom and dad, Landon almost." Lizzie explained.
Hope scoffed, half laughing. "I'm not- We're not struggling anymore." Hope told Lizzie. "I've dealt with it and moved on. She's dealt with it and moved on." Hope explained.
Lizzie didn't say anything and instead you heard a box opening. "This was my mothers. We can alter it to fit you." Lizzie told Hope.
Hope didn't say anything for a couple seconds. "It's gorgeous." Hope replied. "But what about Kate? What's she going to wear?" Hope asked Lizzie.
"We'll find something for her or she'll find something for herself." She replied.
Once they finished, you left to be alone in the woods and at the lake. After a couple hours of just being by yourself, you now went to your dorm room and opened the door to see Hope was already dressed.
"Hey." Hope said as you entered and shut the door. You just smiled as you went to your bedside table and drank a bit of water. "Are you okay?" Hope questioned, sounding worried.
You nodded. "Yeah. I'm fine." You responded, placing the drink down. You looked up at Hope. "Fine, I'm not fine. I'm sorry about being jealous, I don't mean to be but I just- like I said, today isn't my day."
You paused, watching Hopes face stay worried. "I also talked to Roman about something other than the person turning people to stone." Hope looked between your eyes. "He still has feelings for you and I didn't know what to do so he left my side, probably annoyed." Hope nodded, having already guessing that. "But I also heard you talking to Lizzie, I didn't mean to eavesdrop." You looked down at your hands.
Hearing footsteps coming over you looked up. "I'm sorry, too. I shouldn't have gotten personal about your family." Hope responded honestly.
You smiled slightly. "Are we good?" You asked, scared Hope would say no.
Hope nodded her head up and down. "Yeah." She replied, smiling.
You let out a breathe. "Thank god, I don't like it when we fight." You and Hope walked forward, you wrapping your arms around her waist while she placed her arms around your neck. "You look absolutely beautiful but the way." You whispered to Hope.
Hope smiled cheekily. "Oh yeah?" She asked as she looked at your lips. You nodded before she broke the distance between you two and pulled you in for a kiss. Short but sweet.
"I still need a dress." You complained as you two separated.
Hope had a look in her eyes that you knew she had a thought. "Lizzie." Was all she said. You two then moved from inside your room to Lizzie's to get a dress.
ââââ
Lizzie had given you a black dress that faded into purple and it was absolutely gorgeous. Hope was with Roman, you were kind of annoyed now that you weren't her escort, speaking of escorts, yours wasn't here yet until you saw him pop up next to you.
"Hey." You looked at him smiling. "Where have you been?" You questioned but Landon didn't respond. "You okay?" Your smiled faded as he stayed quiet. "Why do you smell like a bar?" You slightly giggled.
Landon breathed out. "Penelope Park told me that you and Hope are keeping a secret... about my mom." Landon started, looking over at you. "She says that we met her and that I don't remember it... but you do." Landon searched your eyes, you just stared at him, knowing Landon knows the truth. "She's lying, right?"
You eyes flooded with tears as Landon looked away. "Just tell me she's lying, Kate." Landon said with more authority and anger, looking at you, you breathe was just shaky as you felt on the verge of crying. "You know, I wasn't always the most honest person, but... you were really the only one that taught me the value in being truthful. And the truth... I can't be here right now." And just like that, Landon left your side.
Now you definitely had no escort. "Landon. Landon." You voice broke as you tried to stop him but couldn't.
"Kate, you're next." A man called out.
You breathed heavily as all the noise around you seemed to fade away. "I can't do this. I can't do this. I can't." You repeated, tears almost about to fall. The chandelier was shaking a little but as you turned to leave but pumped into someone as you turned.
It was Rafael. "Just five more minutes." You stared at Rafael, wiping tears that started escaping. "Get through the this and it'll all be over." Rafael told you, both of you turning around to go down the stairs, you linking your arm around his.
You looked up, taking in a deep breathe to calm down as you started walking down the stairs. "Kate Parker and her escort, Rafael Waithe." The man said over the speaker
You were now bowing to your escort as you were starting the dance. 'Always' by Gavin James was playing, but by a piano. You and Rafael lifted up your rights arms and started walking. "You doing okay?" He asked as he realised how sad you were.
You briefly nodded, holding back tears. "Fine." Your voice cracked. "Let's just get through this like you said." You responded, looking anywhere but Rafaels face. You both turned around, lowering your right arms and lifting your left, walking the opposite direction.
You both stayed quiet as you then raised both arms, going the same way you did with the right arm. "What are they fighting about?" You questioned as you looked over at the Twins, both of you lowering your arms and holding each other.
Rafael sighed. "Who cares? They're always fighting about something." Rafael responded, lifting your hand up.
Looking away from the Twins you looked up at Rafael. "I know you can hear them better than me, remember that I've only been a werewolf for under a month." You reminded him.
Rafael groaned. "But I won't be able to get word for word." Rafael responded.
You nodded either way. "Tell me." You cocked your head to the side, pointing at them.
Rafael slightly tiled his head to hear them. "Like I said, not word for word but it's silly. Something about a dress Lizzie gave to Hope." Rafael responde,d looking between your eyes.
Confusion crossed your face. "What about it?" You asked, glancing over at the twins as Rafael looked back over to them.
You both disconnected and bowed, doing the dance again. Rafael looked over at you, shocked and surprised. "What?" You asked, even more confused. Rafael kept quiet. "Tell me." You urged.
Rafael sighed, both of you turning the opposite direction. "Hopes father gave it to Lizzies mom." Rafael summarised what he heard.
You breathed out, shocked, not saying anything as you then raised both hands. "Her dad chose that dress?" You inquired.
Rafael shrugged. "Apparently." He said with a nod of his head. You looked over at Hope. "Is she okay?" Rafael asked as he followed your eye sight. You and Rafael connected again, slow dancing once more.
You watched as Hope breathed heavily, probably knowing what Lizzie just said. "May I have your attention, please?" Danas mom called out, all the dancers stopping. "Without further ado, it is my honor to announce our very own Miss Mystic Falls." She paused. "From the Salvatore School, Miss Hope Mikaelson." A light was put onto Hope, she had tears in her eyes. There were applause as she said that.
You watched as Hope was on the verge of a meltdown and you realised that as you looked up and saw the chandelier shaking a little. You quickly made your way over and wrapped Hope in a big hug. "Congratulations. It's okay." You softly said as Hope just stood still in your hug, her head buried in the crook of your neck. "Just let it all out. The real way." You said. "The way you've needed to all along." Hope then wrapped her arms around you, crying.
Hope started sobbing. "We can have the school day off tomorrow if you want." You whispered to Hope as she sobbed. "I need to let it out the real way, too." You hugged Hope a little tighter as she did the same with you.
ââââ
You and Hope were in Lizzies room. Hope gave the dress back to Lizzie. "I need to go find Landon." You said, worried. Hope breathed in shakily, still upset about the dress.
Lizzie put the dress away in a box. "Just give him a minute to breathe. Boys need some space before they come crawling back." Lizzie stated as she turned back around.
You looked Lizzie, confused. "You do realise I am not dating, Landon, right?" You questioned, a little mad. Lizzie just stared, not saying anything.
Hope placed a hand on your arm, decking to speak up as she moved from your side to sit on the bed. "I thought I could keep it all together. I've worked so hard to move on from all the things that have happened to me in my life. But everyone was right." Lizzie sat down in front of Hope. "Everyone's been right. I needed to, like, let it all out." Hope looked down before looking up. "How did you know what to say? How'd you know what to do?"
You moved and sat down next to Hope. "It's just what Josie's done for me a thousand times." Lizzie slightly smiled before that dropped and tears filled her eyes. "She's really mad at me." Lizzie whispered. "I don't think I've ever seen her so angry."
You raised your eyebrows, breathing in and out. ""Landon's pretty mad at me." You whispered back, tears filling your eyes.
"Then let's make a deal. You help me get Josie back, and I'll help you two get Landon." Lizzie suggested, raising her pinky. You and Hope looked at it before rasing your own and connecting it with hers.
ââââ
You went to the front of the Salvatore school o see Landon talking to someone in a car hold out a gun then shoot Landon with it, it must have been a taser because he fell to the ground in pain. "Landon!" You yelled as you ran over.
The girl got out of the car, it was MG's mom, and tased you, causing your fall to the ground, going unconscious.
You woke up tied to a chair, something stopping you from speaking and Landon was next to you. You looked up and saw Agent Clark coming towards you and him. "Agent Clark." MG's mom said as she approached.
"Mrs.G." He responded.
You and Landon watched the interaction. "Your asset failed her retrieval mission." As Mrs.G said that, Clark looked furious. "I cleaned up her mess."
