RECAP

Lizzie looked back and forth between Hopes eyes. Josie and you looked at the two fighting. "You mean the one that you set on purpose to sabotage our spring break trip with our dad? No, Hope. Why would I talk about that?" Lizzie sarcastically replied, angry.

"Dude," Hope started, pointing up a finger. "you've lost it." Hope continued.

Lizzie stood up. "The only thing that we lost was a week of quality family time." Lizzie stared at Hope. "Dad had to cancel the trip to deal with the damage. So mission accomplished." Lizzie argued.

Josie cut in. "You guys are just talking about ancient history. Ow!" Josie slapped at her arm and you all looked at her. "Something stung me." Josie said, rolling up her sleeve, you got up to get a better look.

————

When you all looked at Josies bite, all your faces were disgusted. "Ew!" Hope said while Lizzie gasped.

"Gross." Was all Lizzie said.

You looked up at Josie. "That's so gross and weird..." You mumbled.

You all looked up as you heard buzzing and a swarm of flies or something. "This is plague-y, right? It seems plague-y." Hope said, there was screaming all around and people running past you guys.

You nodded. "It's plague-y." You responded as you all looked around.

Once Hope grabbed your hand, you all sprinted inside the nearest store to find safety. Once inside, everyone sighed as they observed the fly-like creatures waiting at the door to enter.

After a while, the fly-like things dropped to the floor and you all exited the building, the crunching sound of the dead flies making a shiver run down your spine as it was disgusting. "We need to find your dad." Hope said as you all walked away from the building. Hope then turned right, you and Josie following. "This way." She said.

Lizzie stayed put. "Does this way take us past the fire station?" Lizzie then started walking and following us.

"Oh my god. We barely just survived a biblical plague." You turned your head to look at Lizzie as Hope said that. "For the last time, I didn't start the fire, ad I've never ruined a spring break." Hope replied.

Josie turned back to look at Lizzie before turning back to see where she was going. "Yeah, Lizzie, now's not the time." Josie said, being on Hopes side.

"Fifth grade." You let your head fall a little as Lizzie started. "You callously gave me the flu while we were building our float for witch week. With global warming, I may never see the Florida Keys. That's on you." Lizzie brought something up that wasn't related to the argument, well you hoped it wasn't.

Hope didn't look at Lizzie, you looked down as you didn't want to fall down the stairs. "We built it with Alyssa Chang, who had pneumonia over spring break." Hope looked around for Alaric. "It wasn't me, and neither was that fire." Hope repeated again.

Josie came to a stop. "Um, hey..." She said, you stopped to make sure she was okay.

Lizzie continued to talk. "Why did I see you giving us a death glare through the window?" Lizzie questioned.

Josie looked up from the bite. "There's a boil on my boil." Josie stopped the fighting and Hope and Lizzie came over.

You scrunched up your face. "Gross." You looked at the boil.

Lizzie looked at it. "Oh god!" Lizzie exclaimed.

Hope took a closer look. "Ew!" She repeated the same word.

Josie looked over at you. "I think I'm gonna be sick again." Josie groaned.

Lizzie clicked her fingers, walking off to turn a corner. "Pick up the pace, Mikaelson. My sister needs..." Lizzie trailed off as she turned the corner, you all following her but you all came to a stop as you saw people in a single file, people in hazmat suits sweeping the dead flies and a bus with people getting on it. "...medical attention?" Lizzie finished but with a confused, questioning tone.

————

You were now with Alaric, Emma and Kaleb in the FEMA Recovery Center and waiting in a line to be checked. "I don't get it." Hope spoke up. Alaric and Emma looked at Hope. "The locals that we met said that they hadn't seen anything, which means that the first sign of trouble happened after we got here." Hope explained.

You all looked around the center. "How did these people get here before the bugs?" You questioned, confused.

The line moved forward. "I don't know who they are, but they are too prepared, organized, and well-equipped to be responding to some random insect attack." You all were next in line so when the girl looked up, she had a questioning look on her face.

She looked down at her clipboard before looking back up. "You together?" She questioned.

Alaric nodded. "Yeah, you know, we just came in from Roanoke to see that giant ball of yarn you guys have." Alaric lied.

The girl looked at all of you. "And these are?" She questioned, both Emma and Alaric moved out of the way.

Alaric wrapped arm around Emma's shoulder. "This is my wife." Alaric said, Emma laughed, leaning into the hug. "Emma. Uh... these are my daughters." He looked back at the twins. She looked like she was unimpressed. "From my first marriage." He explained, Josie waved while you mentally slapped your forehead. "And, uh, Kaleb here is, uh..." Alaric trailed off, unsure of what to say.

"My boyfriend." Both the twins said at the same time. Oh lord, this was so awkward.

Kaleb looked shocked. "Hey," He chuckled, wrapping an arm around both twins. "when you're good, you're good, right?" He questioned.

The girl looked so done and just put her hand out to the left of her and you all just walked off. As you were walking, you and Hope glanced over to a guy you both recognised, you both felt the stares of him lingering on you both.

You stood next to Hope, drinking your water. Hope looked over at the familiar man before looking down. "Don't look, but that guy over there was outside of Seylah's house when we were in Kansas, with the fake gas leak." Hope continued getting water.

Just then Alaric looked up and stared at the man. "She said don't look." You looked over at Alaric and he looked away.

You and Hope looked over at the man. "What's he doing here?" Hope questioned, Alaric now looking back at the man.

"I don't know. Probably the same thing we were." Alaric suggested. "Trying to cover things up. There are groups like this scattered all over the globe. Probably tracking the same activity we were." Alaric explained.

You looked in front of you to the people where a car was people loaded. "Awful lot of artillery, too." You kept your voice low when you said that. Hope and Alaric looked at them as well. "Dr.Saltzman, their gear." You said, looking at the air tanks and flippers before looking at Hope and Ric.

Alaric didn't look away from the car. "They're here for the urn." Alaric said what we were all thinking before looking over at us.

"Dorian." Hope simply said. Great, now Dorian is in trouble.

————

You had your head on Hopes shoulder as you both were seated somewhere. "I don't wanna be here, Hope." You whispered so that she only heard it and not the twins.

Hope looked over at you but you didn't bother looking up into her beautiful eyes. She moved a piece of hair out of your face. "You know we can't leave, this place is practically a quarantine zone." Hope whispered back.

You nodded. "I know.." You trailed off. "I just don't feel safe here." You continued, looking up at Hope.

Hopes face softened. "As long as I'm here, nothing and no one can hurt you." Hope looked back and forth between your eyes, smiling at you.

You smiled at her and looked back down so you were looking back out to the people doing their jobs and your head was back on her shoulder. You felt Hope look over at someone, thats when she tapped you to look as well. As you did you saw Alaric talking the man from Seylahs.

"Hey." Joie looked over at you two. "Who is that guy?" She questioned

Hope looked from him to Josie. "This creep we met in Kansas when you guys were in Europe."

Lizzie overheard and cut in. "Why were you in Kansas?" Lizzie asked, before realising something. "Oh, wait, let me guess, it involved you and Kate insinuating yourself, into a situation where only you two could be the hero." Lizzie guessed. Josie looked back and forth between all of you.

You rolled your eyes and put you're head in your hands. Hope looked at her like she had gone mad. "As a matter of fact, yeah." She glared at Lizzie. "And stop picking on Kate, she did nothing to you." Hope defended you.

Lizzie rolled her eyes. "Oh I swear to God, you two will do anything to get attention." Lizzie groaned.

You and Hope scoffed. "Said the narcissist." You thought out loud although, you didn't faze when you said it.

Lizzie looked shocked by your response and Hope looked proud a little bit. "Said the... other narcissists." Lizzie tried to think of a good comeback but couldn't.

Josie obviously looked done with the fighting. "Okay, guys, can we please stop?" Josie pleaded.

Hope looked back to Lizzie from you. "Okay, fine. You know what? Maybe I was jealous. Maybe I wanted what you had." Hope started, only talking about her now so you didn't want to get involved. "A simple day with my family." You gently grabbed Hopes hand to calm her down and she did, slightly. "I lost half of my stuff in that fire, including the only painting I made with my dad. Why would I do that to myself?" She questioned Lizzie.

Lizzie and Josie looked down, unsure of what to say.

————

You and Hope now stood with Alaric outside with the familiar man known as Clark. "I work for an organization that keeps monsters and things that go bump in the night from public view." He started. "I thought I recognized you, Jessica and Emily-" He didn't get to finish his sentence.

"It's Hope and Kate, actually." Hope cut him off, motioning to her first, then you.

You couldn't read his expression but it's like he didn't care. "I wasn't sure if it was a coincidence, so we searched your van." You thought that was a bit much but didn't say anything. "We know you're Alaric Saltzman," You and Hope looked up at Ric. "headmaster of the Salvatore School. We know a lot about it. You have a terrific reputation." Clark said, trying to be nice.

Alaric looked back and forth between Clarks eyes. "Leave the school out of this." Alaric stated.

Clark stuttered a little. "Look, I applaud your school's mission." He responded. Hope tilted her head a but confused. "If you do your job right, makes mine easier."

"So why are we still here?" Alaric asked.

Clark didn't loose eye contact with Ric. "Well, I have an entire town that needs to forget what they've seen today. You know, usually it's convincing a farmer in Nebraska, he didn't see a chimera, you know, or a few ice fishermen in Minnesota that it wasn't a yeti that ate their best friend." Alaric looked down at you guys before back to Clark. "This is an entire town. It's different." He stated. In your opinion, you think he's talking bull. "We could use the assistance of a vampire." He paused. "I noticed the daylight ring on your daughter's boyfriend-" He got cut off once again.

"Oh, he's not their... never mind." Alaric said.

Hope decided to speak up. "Why not call it a freak swarm of bugs? Why erase it from memory?" Hope inquired.

Clark looked down at Hope. "Because someone may recognise them for what they are." Clark said, acting as if we knew what he was talking about. "Harbingers." He stated.

"Of what?" You asked.

Clark looked over at you. "Seriously?" He asked. "I mean, this is obviously the work of a mummy." Alaric seemed over joyed and you all just stared at him.

Alaric had a little smirk on his face as he looked down at you and Hope. "I told you." He said to you two before looking back up.

Clark continued speaking . "One of our drivers survived an attack by the river. He's been tracking the mummy ever since." Clark started. "He's still on the outskirts of town, but he's heading our direction." He paused as he watched our faces. "We're a cleanup organization. Okay, we're not equipped to go to battle with a mummy." His voice was a bit shaky.  "So... will you help? Cut him off at the pass and keep all these people safe?" He pleaded.

Alaric looked down at you and Hope before up at the man. "Oh, these kids are-"

Clark cut him off. "Kids with magic, in a town full of innocents without it." Clark kept pleading.

You groaned. "We'd be happy to help." You stated so he could shut up.

Alaric didn't so say no or anything and actually agreed. "I'm gonna need my weapons." Alaric stated.

"Of course. Gather what you need." Clark stated. "Round up your friends. My team can help you with anything else." Clark smiled then left. You and Hope moved to stand in front of Ric.
