RECAP

"When no one's watching, it lights up the room. About the time you think you've locked your heart up safely someone breaks right through." You looked back down at your finger placement. "And all of her, fascinating contradictions are beautiful to you." You took a few breathes in. "I'm falling for a girl, and I can't wait to tell you all about her. About last night, I saw a vision of the future, in my dream. And I can't wait to meet who you will be so I can know everything about her." You finished and you smiled as you saw Hope was crying.

Her eyes were a bit red and you could see tear marks down her face. You both looked at each other before she cupped your face and kissing you. You kissed back, both of you smiling against it.

There is one thing you hate more than mornings, being woken up. And right now, that's what's happening. "Kate." You heard a voice call your name, you groaned in response. "Get up, we have to go on a road trip." It was Hope, you felt her move a piece of your hair out of your face.

You grabbed the sheets and pulled them over your face. "No, it's too early."  You groaned, your morning voice coming through.Hope chuckled, pulling down the sheets, you opened your eyes slightly to see Hope sitting on the edge of the bed, ready to go. "Fine." You rolled your eyes, getting out of the other side of bed. "Turn around." You stated.

You quickly got change into a leather jacket and a pair of black jeans and some boots. "Can I turn around now?" Hope questioned.

"Yeah." You walked over to your bedside table and quickly did some light make-up and a messy bun before grabbing your glass of water, drinking some of it so your voice wasn't dead. Hope looked you up and down. "Well, let's get moving." You two then left, hand in hand as you walked to the car. Hope had a bag on her left shoulder that held snacks for the road trip.

"Dr. Saltzman, this van is very... white of you." Kaleb stated.

Alaric took his eyes off the road and looked to Kaleb. "It's retro." Alaric said in a monotone voice, looking back to the road.

Lizzie cut in. "It's a gas-guzzling atrocity on wheels." Lizzie stated her opinion.

Hope then came up from looking down and sighed, holding the bag from before she was holding. "We brought snacks." She looked around the van, handing some snacks to Dorian and Emma.

Lizzie stared outside. "Oh, sweet. Did you two pack them before or after you decided to FOMO your way onto our trip?" Lizzie looked over at Hope.

"Like we're gonna let you guys chase monsters without us?" Hope questioned, chuckling a little.

Lizzie shook her head. "I would've thought you wanted to spend the break canoodling with cousin-girlfriend back home." Lizzie stated, Hope looked over at you.

You looked over at Lizzie with an annoyed face. " 'Cousin-girlfriend'?" You questioned, Hope placed her right hand on your hand so calm you down.while Lizzie rolled her eyes.

Hope looked back over to Lizzie. "Sorry for wanting to protect the outside world from our mistakes." Hope said. "You know, there's currently an urn on a river cruise, spreading plagues across America because we thought a unicorn was cute. It's called accountability. Maybe there's a bracelet for it." Hope fired back.

Kaleb made a sound from Hopes burn towards Lizzie. 'Or maybe you just wanted to ruin yet another Saltzman spring break." Lizzie only fired at Hope this time.

Hope had a questioning look on her face. "When have I ever ruined a spring break?" She asked, glancing over at Lizzie.

Alaric cut in before this got heated. "Girls? We're gonna be in this classic automobile for six hours, all right? So, no bickering." Alaric ordered.

Hope started waving at her face with both hands, the comfort of her hand off of yours for a while before she dropped i back down. "It would help if it wasn't a thousand degrees in here. I'm burning up." Hope stated.

"You're burning up. Now, that's ironic." Lizzie bluntly said.

You sighed as the argument has started. "What does that even mean?" Hope questioned, completely confused.

Lizzie looked at Hope. "Don't play dumb. I see you. I see right through you." Lizzie looked back and forth between Hopes eyes.

Hope looked straight into Lizzies eyes. "I don't know what you're talking about." Hope leaned a little into you.

"What happened to playing nice?" You cut in, starring at Lizzie and Hope.

Lizzie looked away from you and forward, Hope now not leaning on you. "Over. Done. I'm getting back to me. I am who I am. Right, Josie?" She looked over at Josie. "Josie?" She called again.

Josie looked away from the outside after Lizzie reached over Hope and tapped her. Josie then took and ear bud out. "Sorry?" She questioned, unsure of what was said.

Lizzie lowered her voice but we all still heard it. "Josie, you cannot leave me alone with just them for company." You glared at Lizzie.

"What did I ever do to you?" You questioned, annoyed even more but Lizzie ignored you and focused on Josie.

Josie shrugged. "Well, I get carsick if I don't listen to music so.." Josie went to put her ear bud back in.

"Josie!" Lizzie yelled, reaching over Hope to grab Josies hand and now all four of you were fight.

Lizzie had pushed Hope out of the way and into you and reached over to Josie. "Girls!" Alaric called, looking off the road. The four of you kept yelling at each other. "Girls!" Alaric called louder, all of you coming to a stop but all of you were annoyed. "Girls, there is no reason to be tense or awkward, okay? Now knock it off." Josie and Lizzie rolled their eyes and looked out the window. "We're gonna get through this together." You and Hope looked at each other, annoyed. "God help us all." Alaric finished.

"Whoop. Road trip." Kaleb said to make a joke.

It was actually very awkward after you all stopped talking. "I'm boiling." Hope rested her hand on her forehead before letting it fall onto your hand.

"I'm freezing." Lizzie said right after Hope spoke.

Josie took her ear buds out. "I'm starving." She said.

Alaric turned on the heater for Lizzie. You rested your right hand on the window to lean your head up against it. "Punch buggy." Lizzie punched Hope in the arm, you looked over to see Hope starring at Lizzie with an annoyed before sitting up right.

After a while of doing nothing Dorian started handing out sandwiches. "Okay, sandwiches." Hope grabbed two and gave one to you, you smiled at her before opening it and biting in to it.

"I'll do a sandwich." Alaric called.

The overlapping chatter continues."Dad, did you only pack meat?" Josie questioned

Alaric got handed a sandwich by Hope and took it. "Thank you." Alaric said.

"J-Just baloney?" Kaleb questioned.

You just there, happily eating your sandwich since you didn't eat breakfast. After finishing your lunch you gave your rubbish to Dorian who had a rubbish bag back there. Once you turned back around you rested your head on the car door. "Punch buggy. No returns." Lizzie said, punching Hopes arm, smirking at Hope who just jumped and leaned into you in a way to get away.

Once Hope sat up you moved to lean your head on her shoulder, bored. Then to make it worse, Alaric started singing. "Ninety-nine bottles of beer on the wall. Ninety-nine bottles of beer." After a while of Alaric singing it was finally quiet.

You heard retching int the back and turned around to look at Josie. "Josie, you okay?" You asked, concerned.

"I think I'm..." She trailed off and started retching again but this time vomited.

You, Hope and Lizzie started yelling as it was gross. "My god!" Lizzie yelled.

You all moved forward so you weren't close to Josie vomiting and you all had disgusted faces. "Get it in the bag!" Alaric yelled at Josie.

After a while of calming down from Josies vomiting, you rested your head on the car door and just looked outside. "Are we there yet?" Lizzie moved forward to look at her father to which he didn't respond.

There was more retching and once again, Josie threw up and all of you were yelling again. "Oh lord. In the bag, sweetheart!" Alaric yelled at Josie.

"Oh my god. Oh my god." Hope groaned out, shutting her eyes.

Lizzie looked done. "Are we there yet?" She questioned again and once again, no one answered.

You rested your head on the car door once again. "Emma, do you have a blanket?" You questioned.

"Yeah, honey." Emma then handed you and blanket which you gladly took.

You smiled. "Thanks, Emma." You responded. You put the blanket over your body and fell asleep, but as you were falling asleep, you felt a head on you shoulder and you saw Hope falling asleep on you.

As you were falling asleep, you heard Alaric speak. "I'm not lost." He exclaimed.

After waking up a little while later Alaric had forced you all to start singing. "Thirty-seven bottles of beer on the wall, thirty-seven bottles of beer. You take on down, you pass it around, thirty-six bottles of beer on the wall." You all sang.

"Oh yeah. Keep up, guys." Alaric glanced back at all of you guys.

You guys passed a sign that read MAPLE HOLLOWS so hopefully that's close to the finish line. Josie started playing the ukulele/ "my heart wrote a little song for you, so won't you take a listen and dance with me to the rhythm?" Josie sang.

Josie then put the ukulele down it kept hitting your chair and pushing you forward. "Hey Jo, can you not, please?" You questioned looking back at her.

Josie looked up. "I'm sorry." She replied scared, you sent her a small smile.

Lizzie looked as if she was about have a mid life crisis. "We there yet?" She whined.

Alaric then came to a sudden stop. "Yes!" He put the car in park mode and you all just looked at him. About god damn time we arrived, you was gonna die if you weren't there yet.

You were forced to stay in the car while the three adults left to the creek, after a while Alaric and Emma returned and now you were on your way to the town square, like Mystic Falls. "Welcome to Maple Hollows." Kaleb said, looking around.

Alaric drove through the town until he found a parking spot. "Girls, you take the fountain area. See what you can find out." Alaric told you four girls. Everyone went here seperate ways while you four girls stayed together.

You sat on the fountain with Lizzie as hope walked around and checked near the fountain for anything weird. "May I ask again why you have just started hating me?" You questioned, not looking at Lizzie as you kept an eye out for anything.

Lizzie groaned. "I know we haven't known each other long, but that's my own information that I don't feel like giving it out." Lizzie replied.

You nodded, clicking your tongue. "Sounds to me you don't have a reason." You sassily replied, crossing your arms over your chest, still not looking over as you felt her looking at you.

Josie came up to us the same time Hope did. "Fun fact: this town has the biggest ball of yarn in the country. And nobody's seen anything strange." Josie said, looking at all of you.

"This isn't exactly a hotspot of activity." Lizzie spoke, being a downer, you all looked over at her. "Our hopes of finding anything are going up in smoke." Lizzie hinted something, glaring at Hope.

Hope moved so that her body was facing Lizzie, an annoyed look on her face. "Wait, are you passive-aggressively referring to that fire in my dorm room three years ago?" Hope responded. Hopes room set on fire? But it looks so nice now

Lizzie looked back and forth between Hopes eyes. Josie and you looked at the two fighting. "You mean the one that you set on purpose to sabotage our spring break trip with our dad? No, Hope. Why would I talk about that?" Lizzie sarcastically replied, angry.

"Dude," Hope started, pointing up a finger. "you've lost it." Hope continued.

Lizzie stood up. "The only thing that we lost was a week of quality family time." Lizzie stared at Hope. "Dad had to cancel the trip to deal with the damage. So mission accomplished." Lizzie argued.

Josie cut in. "You guys are just talking about ancient history. Ow!" Josie slapped at her arm and you all looked at her. "Something stung me." Josie said, rolling up her sleeve, you got up to get a better look.

A.N: PLEASE READ: Since season 1 is coming to an end, I need some ideas for Kates love interest in season 2, I was originally thinking Landon but then that'd be weird.

Just to clarify why I thought Landon is because, Kate and Landon met in school but they were in different homes until eventually you and Rafael found your way into being adopted by Landon's family, so they have known each other a long time but only lived with each other for lets say a couple years. but i need your opinion, is it weird or not?
