RECAP

After a couple seconds it was healed. Landon laughed as he watched. "Wow." He said, amazed.

"Well done, Kate. You learn fast for not being here long." The teacher walked in front of you and Landon.

You smiled up at her. "Thank you, Ms. Featherwood." You replied as she walked off to Hope's table which was at the back. "Anyway, I gotta go. Me and Hope are doing a talent and we have to figure out what we're good at together." You trailed off. "See you around, Lan." You smiled, leaving Landon and walking over to Hope who stood at the door, waiting for you to finish with Landon as she finished with Rafael.

————

You poked a stick into the cake, checking if it was cooked. "If it's gooey, then it's not done." You pulled the stick out and it was gooey. "Mm-mm." Hope shook her head, both of you getting up.

You looked at Hope, leaning on the table. "Are you sure cake decorating counts as a talent?" You questioned.

Hope started painting on a flower for a cake decoration. "Well, um, you told me that you don't know karate, then you stepped on my feet during salsa, and then you straight up refused to try synchronized ribbon dancing." Hope had pointed out everything you didn't want to do.

You sighed. "Sorry. My dignity wouldn't fit in the unitard." You responded sarcastically, normally you wouldn't towards Hope.

Hope laughed. "You know, it's not too late to pull out that notebook of lyrics that you have and sing something." Hope said, looking back down at the decorations.

You widened your eyes slightly. "I-I don't really sing in front of people. I've never liked it, my songs are private." You responded.

Hope looked of you. "Okay, well... cake decorating it is. And you know what?" Hope suggested. "You're gonna like it." Hope said, picking up a hand full of sprinkles and throwing them on you. You looked at her with a shocked face while she bursted out laughing. "Oh my god, sorry." She apologised through her laughing.

"Oh sorry? You're sorry? Well, I don't accept it." You responded, crossing your arms over your chest. Hope laughed, bringing you in so that she was holding you. You kept your arms crossed as she held you. She kept giving you the look of knowing you were gonna break and you did, wrapping your arms around her as well. "I like whatever's gotten into us lately." You responded.

Hope smiled. "Yeah?" She questioned going in for a kiss but before she did, she paused. "The only thing... that would make this day better..." She trailed off, waiting for you to finish the sentence.

"...is if we went and got rid of that urn." You did finish it. "But I have to make sure with Landon that it's okay to take the urn since he was the person that stole the knife that started this whole thing. He needs to know about it." You whispered to her.

Hope looked back and forth between your eyes and lips. "You don't need to do that. It'll be fun. It'll be like a road trip. We'll just garb the damn thing and take it wherever it leads us." Hope argued.

You nodded."We don't need to care what the Necromancer told us. We can just free Malivore so all this mess is done." You responded.

Hope pecked your lips. "Mhm, then we can just have a normal life." Hope responded.

You nodded, just then you realised you weren't feeling well and not one hundred percent in your own brain. "Are we feeling okay?" You asked,a little confused.

Hopes smiled faded, both of you backing away from each other. "We can talk about it on the road." Hope replied.

"I- The cake." You opened the oven and a whole bunch of smoke came out, causing you to cough. "Hope, can you get the vent?" You asked, continuing to cough as you held a rag over your mouth.

Hope walked to the vent button but it electrocuted her and she gasped. "Oh my god, Kate." Hope called, causing you to get up and see what it was. "What is that?" She asked, looking at it and stabbing it with a knife.

You looked at her, ignoring the slug. "Come on, let's get out of here and take the urn to Malivore." You responded. Hope looked at you shocked and her eyes widened as she saw your eyes glow green. She grabbed your hand and casted a spell that sent a electrical wave through your body. You yelped in pain and grabbed your ear as something flew out. "Oh my god." You said as you took the knife and killing the slug. "You ever see Wrath of Khan?" You asked, holding up the slug. Hope looked up at you, confused.

You sighed. "Landon forced me to watch all these sci-fi movies, okay?" You responded earning a chuckle from Hope.

After walking out of the kitchen and to the old mill, you saw Dorian standing there. You and Hope looked at each other before looking back at the teacher.

"Mr.Williams, we need your help." Hope said as you two approached Dorian.

You looked at Mr.Williams, he seemed off. "Dr. Saltzman's been MIA, and this creepy slug came out of our ear." You cut in, mentioning that it happened to you and Hope.

Dorian turned around, if you were being honest he looked possessed as he didn't say anything. But then he held up a glass bottle with a dead slug inside. "Did it look like this?" He questioned.

"Yep, exactly like that." You responded, disgusted as it looked like its guts exploded all over the container

Dorian nodded. "This one tried getting into me." He motioned to the slug he was holding. "I was hoping it was the only one." He continued, pointing back at the unicorn. "I think our harmless friend the unicorn brought it onto school grounds to infect all of us." He stated.

The unicorn then started neighing loudly and wildly and groaned as he went onto the ground, laying on its side, dying. Dorian turned around at the end while you covered your eyes at the sight. Hope put a comforting hand on your shoulder in a way of comfort. "See? Harmless." Hope said, looking at the dead unicorn.

————

You all now stood in a hall way with a table, Landon now with us since he knows more about sci-fi than any of you guys. Dorian placed down a bag on the table you all were surrounding."Okay, we have no idea how long the unicorn was infected before it keeled over, so we should figure this out right now." Dorian stated.

Landon looked at everyone. "I thought only one monster comes for the urn at a time." Landon stated.

"Except the unicorn wasn't the monster. It was just the host, to this thing." Dorian responded, pointing at the slug. "A parasite. It hitched a ride here in that Trojan horse, and then it moved on to us. From what Hope and Kate describe, it sounds like it latches onto the prefrontal cortex, the part of the brain associated with inhibitions." Dorian explained what the slug did to you and Hope.

You and Hope looked at each other before back to Dorian. "So, we were slug-drunk?" You asked, a little grossed out.

Dorian continued talking, not answering out question. "Since we have multiple slugs, it must replicate inside the host, and then lie in wait for the opportunity to infect someone else." Dorian explained.

Hope and you looked at Dorian weirded out. "We're good on the gory details, thank you." Hope replied, meaning you and her were good, closing a book she was holding. "How do we stop it?" She asked.

"That's the weirdest part. I can't find any ancient legends about a creature like this." Dorian stated.

You and Landon looked at each other. "Invasion of the Body Snatchers?" Landon questioned.

"The Faculty. I say again, Wrath of Khan." You continued. Landon looked impressed with you, he was surprised you actually paid attention to the movies. "Sci-fi is our modern-day myths, right Landon?" You asked.

Landon nodded. "Right. Meaning they could have been inspired by something, right? In those movies, it's all about mind control." Landon explained. You and Hope looked at Landon.

"Before the slug popped out, Hope and I wanted to take the urn someplace." You stated.

Landon pointed a figure at you. "I'm guessing Malivore." Landon looked between Dorian, you and Hope.

Dorian looked at Landon. "So, it's like an infection. It gets worse as it spreads." Dorian started. "Stage one, it-it lowers your inhibitions. It makes you act out of character." Hope leaned over you and picked up the jar with the slug in it. "Stage two, once you're susceptible to suggestion, you'll do whatever the slug wants." Hope kept inspecting the slug before looking up back up.

"Till stage three. You go the way of the unicorn." You continued Dorians sentence, everyone looking at you.

Hope looked back at the slug. "Did you see this?" She looked up ate Dorian. "Parts of this thing look bioluminescent." Hope stated. You looked over at it, it did look bioluminescent.

Dorian searched through his bag. "Let me check that out." He turned on the blue light flashlight and took the jar from Hope, shining it on the jar.

The jar lit up green. "Woah." Hope, you and Landon all said at the same time.

"See that?" Dorian questioned, earning a nod from everyone. Then Dorian shined the light on you and Hope. Both of them made low groans. "Umm." Dorian said, unsure of what to say.

You and Hope looked in between Landon and Dorian to see disgusted and creeped out faces. "We don't want to know, do we?" Hope questioned but it was more of a statement.

They both shook their head straight after Hope said that. "Probably not." Landon immediately said.

"Nope. Nope." Dorian said, shaking his head and putting the flash light down. "You know what? We can use these lights to find anyone who's been infected." Dorian handed all three of you a blue light flashlight.

You all then started walking out of the hallway to find who has been infected.

————

You all followed the slug trails to the main room, they were all over the place and it was gross. "This is why I hate sci-fi." You thought out loud.

Hope nodded. "Agreed."

Landon looked at you with a look of disbelief. "Every sci-fi movie I forced you to watched you seemed like you were enjoying it." He stated, you glared at him. "Plus, you even named what movies these slugs could be from." Landon smirked at you.

You rolled your eyes. "I watched them, doesn't mean I enjoyed them." You replied in a monotone voice. You all then raised your flashlights to see the slug trails going all the way up to the roof.

After finding the trails, you guys made your way to the talent show where everyone was. "We need a way to de-slug whosever infected, fast." Dorian stated, looking at all the students.

You all turned around to look at Dorian. "When I touched the switch to the kitchen vent, it shocked me, and that's when the slug popped out." Hope explained. "I had to do a spell to shock the slug out of Kate, though."

Landon looked at Hope and you. "Great. So we just have to find a way to electrocute every student in the school without killing them." Landon said in a super happy tone, he was being sarcastic.

"If we don't, they're dead anyway." Dorian pulled out his phone. "I'm gonna call Ric." Dorian said before exiting the hall.

We all turn around to see Rafael walking out. "My name is Rafael, and my talent is spoken word poetry." Rafael then took a seat on the stage.

You and Landon both groaned as you heard that. "Oh, no. He promised he wouldn't do this again." Landon said, you nodding in agreement.
