RECAP
"We should get to sleep, Kate Lockwood." Hope whispered the last part to Vampires didn't hear my full name.
As you both hopped into bed, you felt the need to say one last thing. "You're a great friend, Hope, possibly even my best friend. Always know that." You looked into Hope's eyes as said that. Hope's face went to one of a deep red blush. "Good Night." You finished, turning over and falling into a peaceful sleep.
But that peaceful sleep didn't last long.
ââââ
You woke up gasping for air as the 2 nightmares that happened prior the week. Your nightmare with your parents and being paralysed. Bad enough both of them scare you but both in the same dream forced you two wake up, hyperventilating. This caused Hope to jump awake, as she looked at you, she saw sweat and you looking very disturbed and scared.
"Hey," Hope said, wrapping you in a hug, resting her head on your head. You rested your head on her chest, slightly calming down. She drew circles on your arm in an attempt to calm you down. "you're okay. Nothing's gonna get you as long as I'm here." Hope soothed. Your breathe hadn't calmed down so Hope cupped your head and forced you to look up at her.
Tears threatened to drop as you looked into Hope's worried eyes. As Hope looked into yours, she saw a scared girl who needed an anchor to her humanity and life outside the nightmare she has to endure. "You're okay." Hope whispered, resting her forehead against yours.
After a couple of minutes just sitting like this you had finally calmed down. "Thank you." You said in a shaky tone.
Hope nodded. As you both looked into each other's eyes, you felt calmer. "Alaric is having an assembly this morning so we better get reader because it starts soon." Hope said, letting go of your cheeks, the warmth and comfort leaving with her.
"Okay.." You said, getting out the bed. You grabbed a piece of the school uniform from Hope's closet, quickly getting changed. Hope doing the same. "Before we leave, can you teach me a little bit of magic?" You asked.
Hope smiled. "Sure." She grabbed a old looking book. "This is a grimore, full of all the spells a witch could dream of. This is the Mikaelson grimore but let's start with an easier one." She paused. "Myself." She held her arms out, causing you to laugh. "Let's start with a simple spell. Invisique." Hope said as she waved her hand in front of her and became invisible.
"Please don't scare me-" You said as she came up from behind you, scarring you. You jumped and turned around, you two were inches apart but Hope backed away.
"Now you try." Hope said, standing where she started.
You sighed. "Invisique." You said the spell, waving your hand in front of you.
Hope smiled. "I can't see you, honestly." Hope giggled. You moved behind her, popping up out of no where and giving her a tickling attack. Hope squealed and squirmed to get away, but she fell to the floor, you still tickling her."St-stop!" She pleaded. You gave in and fell on the floor next to her, both of your breathing heavily from laughing so much.
"Come on, we gotta go to this meeting you said we have." You said, getting up, holding out your hand for her to take, which she did. Both of you walked side by side as you made your way to the assembly hall. Taking your respected seats and watching other students come in.
Once everyone was in, all the students sat in the assembly hall in silence. You and Hope next to each other. "Given our recent influx of monsters, Sheriff Donovan and I have decided we need to take drastic action. Please give him your full attention." Alaric moved out of the way for Sheriff Donovan to speak.
"Like Dr. Saltzman was saying, local girls Dana Lilien and Sasha Stoteraux didn't come home last night. Dana sometimes skips town for a few days to party, but this is a first for Sasha." The Sheriff explained. Photos of the missing girls were being passed around from student to student.
The Sheriff moved out of the way for Dr.Saltzman. "Thank you, Sheriff Donovan. Now while the knife is away with Dorian and things are quiet on his end, it won't hurt to assume the worst." Alaric spoke loudly. "If Dana and Sasha..." You and Hope zoned out.
"Why do we care about Dana? From what I've been told, she's a bitch." You said to Hope. Hope giggled, silently.
Hope nodded. "Where'd you hear that from, Lizzie Saltzman?" Hope took her eyes off of Ric.
You shook your head. "Nope, rumours." You replied. "Aka Lizzie Saltzman." Hope took deciding to make a joke, decided to punch you gently for not admitting that it was Lizzie. You faked a small gasp, both of you smiling at each other before looking back at the headmaster.
"Now, I'll need a few of you to volunteer to go to Mystic Falls High under the guise of an exchange program meant to improve relations between our schools, which, unfortunately, is necessary, given recent events. Now, I give you permission to compel them, to gather materials for locator spells, because any information we can get will make all the difference." Alaric said.
Lizzie got up. "Well," She started walking in front of Alaric. "I guess I can set aside my differences with Dana for a day, because that is what heroes do." Hope rolled her eyes. Alaric sighed, rubbing his eyes. Lizzie turned to look at him. "So... I volunteer as tribute." Lizzie said as if this was a life or death moment, making her way back to her seat.
Hope leaned over towards you. "She battles one gargoyle, and suddenly, she's Mother Teresa." She whispered. You looked down to hide your smile while Hope giggled.
"I'm in." Kaleb got up.
MG got up. "I'm in, too."
Hope then got up. "I'd like to help." She said. Alaric looked surprised.
"Me too." You said as you flattened out your skirt while getting up.
ââââ
You followed Hope into the gym, throughout the week you had gone to your foster home and gotten everything you owned and basically moved into the school and Hope's room. You had been given your own outfit and soon you'll be getting your own bed. You wore your exercise clothes and so did Hope. Ric was already inside, waiting for us to arrive.
"Hope, you can go first." You said, placing down your stuff.
You watched as they started sparring. "Who are you, and what have you done with Hope Mikaelson?" Alaric asked, groaning as they sparred.
"I never got to go to a real school. I've always wanted to know what it's like to be normal for a day instead of being a tribrid loner." Hope argued.
You cut in. "It's honestly not that much different from a boarding school. Besides the sleeping here and the witches, werewolves and vampires." You summarised.
"Yeah, well, that's a bed you made for yourself and besides, you're not a tribrid loner, you have Kate now. I see how you two have been with each other for the past week. You've gotten closer." Alaric replied. You looked down to hide the smile that made it's way to your face as Alaric said that. Hope smiled but quickly dropped it as she attacked Alaric.
"Not looking for a social lecture." Hope angrily said, attacking with a bigger force. Trying to kick him. "So what's your plan with Landon?" Hope asked.
"Yeah, does he like, go here now?" You cut in. Alaric and Hope looked over at you. "I mean, is he supernatural? I love him and all but like you said. this school isn't right for him.
Alaric nodded at your comment before turning back to Hope. "Why? You thinking about murdering him?" Alaric asked Hope. Alaric started sparring again, and grunts were heard. "Kate, join in." Alaric said quickly. You grabbed 2 sticks to spar with and joined in the training. "'Cause there's a knife that sat dormant for centuries that started attracting mythical creatures the day he took possession of it." Alaric stated. All 3 of you grunting. "I'd say there's a lot we need to learn about him."Alaric pointed out.
Hope got him in a choke hold while you pointed a stick at his chest. "And then what? We kick him to the curb?" Hope questioned, letting the older man go. You go stand next to Hope while Alaric starts in front of us.
"Then we decide to do whats best for the people of this school." Alaric said.
You spoke up. "Any idea what to do with him while we search for missing mean girls?" Hope nodded to show she was thinking tha same thing.
"As a matter of fact, yes." Alaric had a small smile on his lips. You and Hope looked at each other, confused.
ââââ
You walked out of the girls room after having a showering after sparring with Alaric and Hope. You wore black leggings with a white t-shirt and a black leather jacket, your normal outfit. As you made it to Hope's room, you put your dirty clothes in the laundry basket and put your bag in an empty space on the floor.
Hope came in not longer after. "Hey." Hope said as she walked in. "You ready to go to high school?" She asked.
You shrugged. "It was my old high school, the one where I had a crush on you know who." You whispered.
"Oh?" She looked confused. "Why are you coming then if you don't want to see him?" Hope asked, generally curious.
You sighed, you had just finished putting your hair in a half up half down hair style. "Because I'm doing this for Landon." You walked closer to the door. Hope nodded. "Come on. We need to go before Dr.Saltzman yells at us." You joked.
ââââ
First out of the bus came MG, then Hope, you, Kaleb, Lizzie and. Last but not least Landon. You were all getting looks from the kids from the high school. You all stared back, you really stuck near Hope to not feel lost.
"Sorry! Sorry" Landon said, pumping into the blonde twin. You looked behind you to see what was happened.
Lizzie scoffed. "I was making and entrance. Mophead." Lizzie called Landon a name.
"Hey." You called to Lizzie, catching the attention from all the other Salvatore students. "Don't call Landon a Mophead, blonde." You glared at Lizzie, which she just rolled her eyes and Landon smiled to say thank you.
Hope looked at you. "Hey, you okay?" Hope asked, placing a hand on your shoulder. You nodded. "Just don't like being here, that's all." You smiled to reassure her.
"Girls are missing, so get your wedgie trauma in check or leave." Lizzie scolded Landon. You groaned. Why did she have to be so mean to Landon?
You all hurried into a small circle. "He's fine. Let it go." Hope commented.
"Okay," Lizzie started. "here's the deal. Landon, you talk to any of the people you still know from when you went here." Lizzie pointed at Landon, Landon went to say something but closed his mouth. "Same with you, Kate." You sarcastically nodded. "Hope, you try to not deliberately alienate the entire student body while the rest of us save the world." Lizzie stated.
Hope looked at Lizzie tiredly. "This isn't a contest, Lizzie."
"You're right, it's a mission." She said, trying to sound superhero-y. Hope looked at her with 'sure' face. "For a hero, and her league of... whatevers."
"Yeah, screw that. i work alone." Kaleb said, walking away.
Lizzie turned to MG. "MG? i need your compulsion skills. Would you like to be, the Robin to my Batwomen?" Lizzie asked, which was very cringy.
"Actually, Batwomen doesn't have a Robin. She-" MG was cut off.
Lizzie groaned. "Metaphor, nerd. Let's go." Lizzie patted MG's chest, walking off with MG.
