RECAP
Then suddenly when we were putting down a full garbage bag, Josie hurled over, grabbing her stomach and groaning in pain. "Everything okay?" Hope asked.
"Yeah, I just think that that's making me a little bit nauseous." Josie pointed to two people making out. Mg and what I've been told, the blondes name is Dana.
"Huh. Didn't see that coming." Hope stated.
ââââ
"It's simple math. MG has the hormones of a teenager and the impulse control of a preschooler." Josie stated. Hope and you chuckled. "He also always goes for the wrong kinds of girls."
Hope turned back to Josie. "Given my last crush, I can't judge." Hope stated. Was her last crush Landon? Could it have been you? Wait, why would you think if Hope had a crush on you? You don't like her in that way and there is no way Hope would have a crush on someone like you.
You cleared the thought but it stayed in your mind, lingering like a mosquito. You all walked away from the two and stared talking. "Well my last crush was cruelly Satan incarnate. That is, I guess, unless you count.." Josie trailed off.
Hope looked up at Josie. "Who?"
"Never mind, it doesn't really matter anymore. Lizzie has dibs." Josie said.
"Dibs? On Rafael?" You inquired. Josie nodded.
Hope groaned. "She always calls dibs. When is it going to be your turn?"
"It just is what it is." Josie wanted to finish this conversation but it didn't.
"Right, well, that doesn't really make it right." You said.
Hope looked over to her right to look at you. "What about you, Kate? Any crushes?" Hope slightly bumped into you as a Joke.
You cleared your throat. "Well-" You looked over at the two. "It was a bad crush-" You cut yourself off.
"Well go on." Josie pleaded.
You groaned. "No, it's embarrassing." You put your head in your hands. They kept pleading until you gave in. "Fine! Okay- jeez...... It was Landon's school bully. I never actually told Landon it was him..." You mumbled. Josie and Hope looked at you, shocked.
"Are you serious?" Josie asked, her shocked face still there. Your cheeks flushed a light red.
"Told you it was a bad crush." You stated. Hope seeing you were uncomfortable, changed the subject.
You all came to a stop. "Your dad knows I did black magic. That's why I'm in trouble. But don't worry, I didn't tell him that you helped me with the spell." You didn't say anything about Hope makingânot making, like asked you do Black Magic to do the spell to kill the dragon.
Josie looked relieved. "Thank you."
"And Landon and Rafael took off together." You stated.
"Landon told me he didn't know why he stole the knife. But then he lied about having it, so I don't know what to believe." Hope paused because continuing. "Then he wrote me this letter that was... I don't know, sweet." Hope let a small smile crawl to her lips.
Josie looked away before looking back. "Lizzie's... sensitive. Our mom is going on these really long recruitment missions recently. That's why she's extra testy. She just really misses her." Josie cleared off why Lizzie was being weird.
"I know the feeling." Hope said, sadly.
"Me too..." You whispered to yourself but luckily Josie didn't hear. You continued to walk.
"I remember how your mom used to come by the school. We all used to say how beautiful she was." Josie said.
"She was." Hope replied.
Josie feeling guilt spoke. "We really should have sent you flowers or something."
Hope chuckled. "You did. Your dad signed your names. It was obvious."
"Okay, we definitely deserve a little pit of poking." You all laughed.
"I wonder where the boys are right now." You asked. We all came to a stop again in the warm sun.
"There's this spell my Aunt Freya taught me. It's kind of like a full-immersion video chat." You zoned out as you looked around in search for Lizzie, but when you can't see her cleaning the graffiti you start to wonder where she could have gone.
You then look back to see Hope pull out a note or letter. "Is that the letter?"
Hope shook her head. "You can't tell your dad." She paused. Josie started smiling a little. "They don't teach this at school."
"This is the kind of secret that I can get behind." Josie stated, smiling. Hope smiled back.
They started doing the spell, secretly in public. You watch as Josie gasps as she stops siphoning to do the spell. "Are you okay?" You asked.
"Why'd you stop?" Hope asked. Josie kept grunting as she held her stomach.
"This is twin pain. Something wrong I think Lizzie's in trouble." Josie looked up at us in pain.
We all quickly walked over to Dorian. "I'm sorry. I can't let you leave."
"No, I need to go home to see my sister." Josie complained to the teacher.
Dorian remained calm. "Your dad's with your sister. And I'm under strict orders to keep you here." Dorian said.
Josie scoffed. You rolled your eyes. "What? Why?" You asked.
"And why are you researching that?" Hope inquired only to be met with silence and Dorian quickly shutting the book with a heavy sigh. You, Josie and hope all looked at each other.
ââââ
You three opened the doors of the Salvatore School. Looking around as no one was to be seen. "Lizzie?" Josie yelled.
"I'll check the library." Hope said. Josie nodded.
"I'll search the corridors." You replied.
AS you went through the corridors you found your way to the cafeteria or the assembly hall. As you searched you heard heavy footsteps and a roar from behind you at the steps. "Oh, crap." You mumbled to yourself. The statue thingy came towards you, slicing your chest as you felt to the ground, unable to move or speak. You watched as the statue moved away from you and towards an exit.
A tear escaped your eyes as you laid on the ground defenceless and vulnerable. You shut your eyes as you heard the roar of the statue echo throughout the school. You then heard footsteps running. Hearing gasps from little kids. The Counsellor, Emma, lifted you and and placed you down next to Lizzie. "Seems it found you too." Emma joked but as she saw tears escape your eyes she quickly wiped them away then got up and sat next to the children.
Then there were other footsteps heard entering the area. "Emma?" Alaric called. She opened the door slightly and put a finger up to her mouth in a way to be quiet. Then heavy footsteps were heard. Hope took a quick glimpse inside and saw you lying next to Lizzie, unable to move. She got worried but that went away as she turned to see the statue walking towards them.
Josie and Alaric turned around while Lizzie and you just looked from the corner of your eyes as you couldn't turn your heads. Emma shut the door to keep all of the kids and you and Lizzie safe. All you heard were growls, roars, screams, thuds, and weird noises. "Dad!" Was faintly heard coming from Josie. Then a spell was heard being casted and a lot of things or rocks falling from the air and hitting the ground.
ââââ
You sat in the assembly hall where previously you had been paralysed as you listened to Alaric's emergency speech. You sat in the chair next to Hope who sat on the table. You rested you head in your hand a tear escaping your eyes as you thought back to the feeling you felt when being paralysed. Hope realised this and put a reassuring hand on your shoulder, rubbing it up and down. You smiled up at her and she smiled back. But both of you got lost in each other's eyes.
Something about Hope made you feel calm and at ease, Hope felt the same way but you both weren't sure what it was.
The moment between you two was broken as Alaric spoke. "If you'd asked me a week ago... I would have told you I knew the difference between myth and fact. I would have said that supernaturals were limited to the species under this roof. I would have said that folklore and fairy tales were just stories. But I can no longer say that any of that's true. 'Cause just a few days ago, we were confronted by the existence of a dragon." The group of students around us murmured. Alaric had walked down the stairs and into the group of students.
Alaric continued. "And then, today, our campus was terrorized by a gargoyle come to life." The murmuring came back once it had died down. "Some of us... were forced to fight." Alaric looked over at Hope, Josie, Lizzie and you. "We won. This time. They were drawn here by a knife that went missing earlier this week. And for whatever reason, these creatures consider us to be the enemy. In their minds, we're the villains because we won't give them what they want. We don't even know why they want it. But we're gonna find out. " Alaric stated.
"I can't say for sure what their true intentions are. I can't say there won't be more attacks. That's why I'm telling you this. To warn you. To ask you to look out for each other." He paused. "To do what's best for one another. Because we're more than just a school. We're a family." Laughter and I distinct chatter was heard throughout the hall. "And we will stand together, we will fight together, and we will win or lose this battle together, no matter what comes next."
ââââ
You sat on the other cough in front of Josie and Lizzie. looking at Hope but MG got in the way as he said something to Lizzie and handed her a plate of brownies. "Thanks, MG." Lizzie said, a smile on her face. Josie then looked at where your eye sight was and looked back to see Hope. You didn't see this but her face was sad. You decided to get up and go to Hope.
You wrapped your arms around Hope. "Thank you for everything you've done for me." You said in the crook of her neck. Hope wrapped her arms around you as well.
"You're welcome." You both un-wrapped your arms from each other. "How about we get some sleep?" Hope asked, a smile on her face, you nodding in agreement.
As you two made your way to the stair case you both saw two guys walk in with an older guy leading them. Rafael and Landon. Hope's smile dropped and so did yours but yours was just a little tiny smile. You and Hope stood there in shock, so did Landon.
Hope's face was one of shocked, relief and anger, the anger is probably from Landon lying. You waved at Landon with a small smile, and he waved back. Hope moved backwards to go to the stairs, you following once you waved to Landon.
As you and Hope made it to her room, you decided to ask a question. "What's it like to be a werewolf?" You blurted out, starring at Hope.
"Well, for a normal werewolf, like Rafael, on the night of every full moon they have to transform into a wolf, it's like a curse. For a Hybrid, you must turn on the first full moon but after that you can change at will, same with werewitch. But the only way to activate it is to kill a human being." Hope answered truthfully. You nodded taking in the information.
"So, in order for me to activate it, i need to kill an innocent person?" Hope nodded. "There's no way I can do that." You said.
Hope looked down, sighing, then looking back up. "I once thought that too, but the guy I killed, was a mistake, I never knew humans were in the church in New Orleans at the time and I killed one out of the two." Hope explained how she activated it. You nodded.
"Well, I don't see you any different. even if you did it on purpose, I don't see you any differently Hope Mikaelson." You smirked as you used her whole name. Hope's gorgeous smile came through, causing your heart to flutter.
"We should get to sleep, Kate Lockwood." Hope whispered the last part to Vampires didn't hear my full name.
As you both hopped into bed, you felt the need to say one last thing. "You're a great friend, Hope, possibly even my best friend. Always know that." You looked into Hope's eyes as said that. Hope's face went to one of a deep red blush. "Good Night." You finished, turning over and falling into a peaceful sleep.
But that peaceful sleep didn't last long.

A.N: was this a good chapter? I personally love the ending of this one.
Was there a lot of tension in the ending? Yes. Did I torture you guys by not making the two of them admit their feelings for each other and kiss? Yes. ;)
