The Mystery Girl | HOPE MIKAELSON |

Salvatore: The Musical!

Part 3

RECAP

"Congratulations!" Hope said sarcastically. "You cleared up your musical problem." Hope stated, scrunching up the piece of paper before throwing it on the floor. She then turned back to her painting, grabbing the paint brush.

Landon looked towards you sadly but you crunched it up and did the same, moving towards your bed to continue working on your laptop and writing down things for school. Landon walked away, opening and shutting the door once he left.

Hope set down the palette of colours before letting out a sigh. Kate looked at Hope before looking back at her computer, continuing with her homework.

————

Landon walked through behind stage of the performance. "Uh, one sec." He said to one student that had come up to him. As he continued walked, he accidentally crashed into someone's shoulder. "Geez! Sorry, sorry." He apologised and went to Kaleb. "Uh, here you go... jackets, scarf." Landon said.

"Oh, there it is, damn." Kaleb commented. Landon then started walking but Kaleb stopped him. "Oh, hey, yeah, this line right here... I'm not saying that." Kaleb said, already assuming Landon was okay with it and walked away.

"Okay, well, it's, uh..." Landon trailed off, not wanting to fight.

Lizzie then looked up from her position on the make-up chair. "Can you come up with something else for me to say here?" Lizzie questioned, pointing at her line. "Thanks." She said.

Landon stuttered on her words. "Uh, uh, okay, I'll, uh... Thank you, thank you, I think, um..." He then paused when he saw Dr.Goodfellow in front of him. "Do you need me to change something?" Landon questioned, feeling pressured about this show.

"No, no, no, no. You are doing wonderfully." He responded, following Landon.

"Yeah, well, you were wrong about Hope and Kate. They hated the changes. I'm pretty sure Kate hate me even more now, too." Landon explained, grabbing pieces of paper.

Dr.Goodfellow shrugged, but Landon didn't realise. "The cost of following your muse. Uh, speaking of, I have further bad news for you, I'm afraid." He stated.

A girl then came up to Landon, showing him two different things. "Uh, that one. Thanks. Thank you." Landon said to the girl.

The girl then walked, Dr.Goodfellow continuing his 'news'. "It would seem that your 'Klaus' has been struck down with a terrible stomachache." He stated. Landon looked down, annoyed yet sad no one was doing the part. "Yes, I know. Tragic. But there is some good news." This caught Landon's attention.

"There is another performer who is ready to step in. He already knows all the music. Possesses a certain gravitas." He rolled his tongue, laughing afterwards. If I may say." He was indicating himself. Just the a musical chrome sounded throughout the room. "Put me in, coach." He said, turning back to Landon.

The announcer over the P.A started speaking, everyone clapping and the room going dark. "And now it's time for... Salvatore: The Musical!" The crowd clapped and cheered, excited to see the musical.

Music started laying, people running onto the stage and getting into position. "If you decide one day to come visit our town. There's a sign you'll see as you drive on down. It says 'Welcome to Mystic Falls'." The girl who was playing Liz Forbes sang, dancing with everyone else.

A guy playing Matt then started singing. "It's a quiet little town with long, dark nights. If the residents see a peculiar sight. They'll say:" He paused.

Everyone on the stage then started singing. "Hey, that's just Mystic Falls."

The guy started singing again. "Animal attacks might be on the rise."

The girl then put a hand on the guys shoulder, pushing him down while also putting a hand over his mouth. "But don't ask questions, it'll be all right."

"We're fine in Mystic Falls." The boy and girl sang together.

Everyone then moved out of the way, Josie, who played Elena, walked out of her spot, the crowded clapping and cheering a bit. "Nothing changes here, it's always the same. Year after year it's just Founders' Day, Remembrance Day, Decade Dance, Tree-Lighting Day, Miss Mystic Falls, Commonwealth Day, Historical Society Founders' Display, and prom." Josie sang, pointing to each person who acted as each day.

The audience laughed while 'Elena' let out a sigh. "Then there's the day you never forget. Your parents pick you up from the party you've left... but they don't make it home. You're hollowed out until nothing remains. And you're stuck in a town where everything's the same. And you just want to scream that everything has changed." She paused.

"But they don't notice at all. Downside of a town this small. They won't see that you've changed. Guess that's just Mystic Falls." Everyone around 'Elena' then started dancing again, circling her.

Once they were finished circling her, she walked to her right and off the stage, the rest of the performers stayed on stage and wrapped an arm around each other at the front of the stage, dancing. "Welcome to Mystic, Welcome to Mystic.Welcome to Mystic-" The paused.

'Elena' then walked back out, a backpack on her. As she was walking, she accidentally hit her shoulder into the new kids shoulder. "Sorry." She apologised.

"Excuse me." He said at the same time. He bent down and picked up the book she dropped. "Uh, Stefan." He said.

"Elena." She responded, grabbing the big.

"Falls." The singers then started singing once again after the pause, dancing again also. A witch then casted a spell when the lights turned off, it reading 'Welcome to Mystic Falls Virginia'. The crowd started cheering and applauding as the song ended. The magic sign then went away.

Landon looked out to all the people enjoying the musical, proud of himself that they were enjoying it. "Hello, brother." Kaleb, who played Damon said as he walked into the room.

'Stefan' turned around, surprised to see Damon. "Damon. What are you doing here?" He questioned.

'Damon' looked at his brother for a moment before speaking. "I just missed you. That's all." He stated.  "You know me better than anyone." He chuckled, walking over to his brother. "You know my thoughts before they've begun. You know my darkest desires. What lays me low, what inspires." He then immediately turned his head to 'Stefan'. "And you hold it over me."

The crowd oohed at the words used, loving the interaction. "We've shared more than a lifetime together. Fought more battles than I can remember. And when we're under attack. You stick the knife in my back." He retorted walking 'Damon' who sat in a chair. "And you'll never let me go." He said, sitting down in the chair next to 'Damon', glaring at him.

"Ooh." The crowd said, interested.

They both them got up and off the chair. "Oh, Hello, brother. There are things in my heart only you can see. There's no other person on Earth who knows you like me. I want to be free of you, but I need you. A fate that I hate but I have to accept." 'Damon' sang as he forced 'Stefan' not to go anywhere. "Hello, brother. What do we do next?" He questioned as he pushed 'Stefan' from his kneeled position.

The audience oohed once they saw the figure of 'Elena'. "So I see you've made a new lady friend." She then walked into the room. "A face I thought I'd never see again."

'Stefan' and 'Elena' then started slow dancing. "There's a calmness when she's near. I could live life in peace here." He commented.

The brothers then started singing together. "Unless I get in the way." The both say at the same time, both of them dancing with the girl they both love as they walked forward to the front of the stage. "So I'll say, Hello, brother, There are things in my heart only you can see." 'Elena' then pushed them both away before getting picking up by them by her arms. "There's no other soul on Earth who knows you like me." The crowd applauded.

"I want to be free of you but I need you a fate that I hate but I have to accept." 'Elena' then walks off the stage. "And so, brother, guess what I'll do next, watch what I'll do next..." He trailed off.

"Damon, don't do this." 'Stefan' pleaded.

"Watch what I'll do next. Guess what I'll do next. Watch what I'll do next." 'Damon' continued before walking back to the door he entered from, when he finished singing, he closed the door, leaving the room.

Cheering and applause sounded throughout the room, the room going dark and Jed getting off the stage. The applause reached the room you and Hope were in. Hope got annoyed with the noise and put her hand into a fist, the door shutting immediately.

You had gone out to get some water and when you returned, you forgot to close it. Hope was still painting while you had finished with your homework and had moved onto sketching in your sketch while also glancing every now and then at Hope to see what she was painting.

Both of your attention then fell onto the fireplace in the room as it suddenly got large, an envelope appearing. You watched as he made it's way to Hope. She caught it and read the front of it, 'Lizzie' then the back of the letter, 'From Mom', you weren't sure as you didn't get one.

Not that you were complaining since you didn't even want one anyway. Hope looked at it before glancing around the room, her eyes landing on you who was busy sketching. She felt she was starring too long and looked back at her painting, letting out a sigh.

Back at the musical, Lizzie was now performing and a soft melody was playing, an applause started, excited to see how Lizzie was going to perform Caroline. "Why is it never me?" 'Elena' sat on the bench, writing in her diary. "Never the one who gets found. The boys I like never seem to like me. Can you blame them? When she's around?"

'Caroline' looked back at 'Elena'. "Elena's calm. She has a grace." 'Stefan' appeared behind her and pointed at her book. "Me, I'm just nervous energy. All out of place." He then took her book, causing her to laugh and take it back. "Elena's smart. Knows what to say. I'm just fumbling as my words get in the way. She has those eyes. That smile, that perfect face." 'Elena' rested her head in her boyfriends lap.

"And then there's me. I'm just... okay. But maybe someone out there's looking for okay." She then turned to the side, when she saw a jock holding flowers next to her. She smiled when she saw them, thinking they were for her. Her smile dropped when a different girl came running into the guys arms. "Just hurry up and find me, okay?"

Cheering and applause broke out from Lizzies performance but then an up-beat tempo started playing. "Doppelgänger, doppelgänger, doppelgänger, doppelgänger." They sang. Everyone laughed and applauded.

"Okay, Elena, here's the deal." Josie started, placing her book in her lap. "You can think about Stefan 'cause he's your boyfriend. You can think about Bonnie, she's such a great friend. You can think about Jeremy or Caroline, keep school and family front of mind. You can think of anything you want. Just don't think about what you want."

She then inhaled deeply, catching some breath. " 'Cause then you'll think about Damon. Just don't think about Damon." She smiled as she thought about Damon. She moved to sit on her knees on the bench, the song ending as she thought about Damon.

Everyone's started cheering at Josies performance. As Josie got off the stage, Dr.Goodfellow was there waiting. "You were fabulous." He commented.

"Thank you." She said, both of them walking side by side. "I feel like I finally get Elena. At first I thought that she was selfish, but she was just being honest about how she's changed." Josie explained.

He chuckled before both of them came to a stop, him walking to stand in front of her. He grabbed her hands. "I'm so glad you found that. And I am sorry about this part." He stated, Josie stared at him confused.

Dr.Goodfellow then brought his arm up to Josies left elbow, causing it to break. Josie let out a pained screamed before crouching to the floor in pain, letting out groans and grunts from the pain.

Landon the found her on the floor, holding her arm. Worry filled his body as he saw her and crouched to her level as she was sat on the stairs. "It feels like it's broken." Josie commented, holding her arm.

Lizzie then walked in,reading her script but stopped when she saw Josie. "Jo, what happened?" She questioned, worried.

Josie looked at her sister. "I don't know. I think I tripped." She responded, unsure. Lizzie sat next to her while Landons told up, stressed.

"Hey, she's almost on. What are we gonna do?" Kaleb questioned.

Landon thought for a bit before coming up with an idea. "We put Elena in a sleep spell. Lizzie, in your next scene, you take all of her lines." Landon ordered.

"What about Elena's final song?" Jed questioned. "It's the end of the whole show."

Landon waved his hands in Jeds face. "Yeah, we'll get there when we get there." He responded.

"Okay, well, I'll definitely need to change some of those lines-" Kaleb started.

"You say the lines as written." Landon ordered, looking around at everyone besides Josie. "All of you. Every single word." He whispered, extremely stressed.

Kaleb stared at Landon. "Okay." He agreed. Lizzie, Jed and Kaleb then started talking over each other about how good the script is.

Meanwhile with you and Hope, you watched as she got up from her seated position on her stool. "Where are you going?" You questioned, curious.

Hope stopped in her track. "Why do you care?" She questioned.

Those words hit you like a ton of bricks. You caused the fight between you two, and you didn't know how to fit it. You looked down and continued drawing, afraid to look her in the eyes. "Because I'm your girlfriend and I'm just curious." You responded.

Hope only scoffed at your words. "You made it pretty clear that we weren't good for each other." Hope scolded.

You slammed your pencil down and got off your bed, moving to be in front of her. "It's not my fault you were curious about what was on my mind! I'm sorry that Dr.Goodfellow got in my mind about us being a problem! I'm happy for you to blame me, punch me, kick me, hell even kill me about what I was thinking because the thought of you hating me alone makes me want to no longer be on this Earth." You exclaimed, tears in your eyes.

Hope only starred at you from your out burst, yes she was happy you loved her that much but she still didn't like the fact you thought about her and you like that. All she could do was stare at you and walk away, unsure of what to say. As she exited the room, shutting the door behind her, all that was on your mind was what was she thinking?

Hope had made her way down to the stage, just in time for Klaus' performance, lucky her. "Hope." He started. "Never forget..." He trailed off when he saw Hope behind the curtain, watching. "...you're special. Your very existence is a miracle." He then crouched down in front of little Hope. "One day you'll grow into an extraordinary woman and continue the legacy of the Mikaelson name." He stated.

The audience awed at what he said, tears coming to Hopes eyes as she watched the interaction. "You'll carry us all with you. Carry us well." He then got up and turned around, 'Caroline' entering the scene. "I believe this will be sufficient to fund your new school." He pulled out a note that was the money for Salvatore School.

The audience gasped and cheered, the curtains closing on Dr.Goodfellow.

Lizzie then walked up to Hope. "Oh, hey. Welcome to hell." She joked.

Hope smiled but then remembered why she was there. "Uh, this came for you." She stated, holding up the letter. When Lizzie grabbed it and read it was from her mom, she looked at Hope and walked off, going to read it.

Hope then walked up to Dr.Goodfellow who spoke with young Hope. "Do you want to ask me something?" He questioned.

He then started walking the way Hope had come. "That sounded exactly like how my father would have said it." Hope commented.

"Right, well, I did meet him once before. He was an exceptional conversationalist. Very entertaining. Terrible painter." He responded.

Hope paused at the top of the stairs. "Can I ask you something, and you can answer it, I guess, how you think he would have said it? Um..." She walked down the stairs to stand in front of him. :Am I doing enough? Am I the person that he would have wanted me to be?" Hope questioned, eager to know.

"Oh, my dear girl, you are entirely too hard on yourself. You think that feeling pain and heartbreak means you've done something wrong. But we lose everyone we love eventually." He stated. "But feeling that loss, well, that means you have done something right. You opened up your heart despite the risks. And that is the legacy that you will carry on." He continued.

Hope then smiled and chuckled softly, knowing her father would have said that. "And now I think you're ready." He brought out the song sheet. "Time for the grand finale." He commented, Hope looking at the song that was called 'Always and Forever', the famous Mikaelson saying.

Dr.Goodfellow left and Hope turned around, looking at the stage. "I am not letting you sacrifice yourself like this." 'Damon' scolded his brother.

"I already did." He responded. "I died, Damon. But I just wanted to say goodbye. I don't have long." He stated.

'Damon' let out a shaky breathe, scared for his brother. "How could you be so stupid?" He replied.

'Stefan' stayed quiet. "I was just trying to be more like you... brother." He commented.

The audience awed at this and applauded when 'Damon' turned back around and placed a hand on his brothers right shoulder. "Caroline will be here any minute." 'Stefan' said.

'Damon' walked to sit on the seats while Lizzie walked out after reading the note from her mom. "I'm here." She called out.

"I'm sorry. There was no other way." 'Stefan' said, bringing 'Caroline into a hug.

They then got out of the hug. "It's okay. I understand why you did it. And I love you, Stefan. I will always love you." She stated, a gentle melody playing. "You can rest and be at peace. You don't have to worry what becomes of me. Because of you I'm who I am today. Don't worry, love, I'll be okay." They then started slow dancing, going into each others eyes. "You don't have to fear. I'm going to be okay."

'Stefan' put a soft kiss on 'Caroline's' head, an applause following. The applause faded and people started whispering when a light shined onto the stage curtains. "Um, i-if only Elena were here." 'Damon' said as he got up from his seat.

Landon closed his book, breathing heavily. "I am." Hope, who took on Josies part, spoke up. The audience gasped but then applauded and cheered.

'Caroline' smiled at 'Elena'. "Elena. You came back. A-And the-the sleeping spell made you look completely different." Lizzie made up her script.

The audience cheered once again. 'Elena' then walked forward to 'Stefan', who had turned around, the mouth of them grabbing each others hands. "I couldn't let you go without saying goodbye." She said, the audience awing and applauding.

A piano started playing to make the scene more saddening. You could hear it from your room, the music, sadly not what they were saying but you could hear the audience and them singing.

After the argument you had continued drawing so you could get your mind off of it but it wasn't helping as you heard Hopes voice singing. "They promised always, they said forever. But in the end I'm left alone." She paused. "I've tried running, but time always finds me and it will take and take, and what you love is never safe and everyone you need one day will go." She trailed off.

You needed to make things right between you two and you didn't want to wait until she came back. You needed to see her now so you got out of your bed and went to the musical and behind stage.

You stood next to Landon who looked at you before back to Kaleb, he then walked back a bit so you have more space. Kaleb was in the way of you seeing Hope but you knew she was singing.

'Elena' then looked to 'Damon'. "So when you said forever any wonder that I ran." Kaleb them moved out of the way, revealing you whos heart was beating out of their chest. "But I think I'd rather lose you than have never held your hand." Hopes singing was beautiful.

You felt hypnotised, her voice, her smile, everything, all you could do was smile back, holding your hands together in front of you. For her, she felt bad for not responding and just walking off. "So if forever is just tomorrow, I want to face it with you by my side. And if our always is just one more day, that's one day more you've changed my life. And I don't want to love you afraid, of the day that my heart's bound to break."

Landon smiled as she was singing the sing he wrote with her dads letter, he didn't say anything about you not singing yours as you seemed pretty happy with Hope at the moment. Kaleb and Hope then started walking towards each other and held hands. "So if forever is just tomorrow, then tomorrow I'll love you always." She then finished singing.

Applause and cheering erupted from the crowd, congratulating Hope. Kaleb then moved out of the way and let his arms out towards Hope which caused you to run out and pick her up, hugging her tightly, the crowd growing louder. You heard her laugh from your action.

As you put her down, you immediately kissed her afterwards, the crowd applauded louder if that's possible. You didn't want to leave the kiss but sadly, you had to and once you it was over, you pressed you forehead to Hopes. You both then moved to get off the stage.

————

You and Hope now sat on the edge of the pier, watching the lake in front of you. You then looked to her. "You first, or me first?" You questioned, moving your hair out of your face.

Hope looked over at you. "How about at the same time?" She questioned.

It was quiet for a moment before you both spoke up. "I'm sorry."

You both laughed softly and looked back out to the lake. "Landon says 'thank you for saving the show', by the way. He said he 'figured out why he was so obsessed with it'." You started explaining. "The point of the musical tonight was apparently learning how to say goodbye to the people you love most, maybe that's why I didn't want to have my part in it." You commented, looking down.

It was quiet once again until you continued speaking. "Me and Landon think that Rafael leaving is hitting us harder than we thought and that's why we're fighting so much. I mean, he was apart of our lives for longer than a decade, so." You stated, playing with your hands.

Hope brought her hand up and placed it on your cheek. "I know." She responded, caressing your cheek softly before bringing it down to her lap. "Oh and tell him he was right." Hope stated, laughing at the fact she said that. You laughed with her but waited to see why she wanted your to tell Landon that. "About my dad being in the play. He made everyone see him the way that I did and I thank him for that." Hope explained.

"Well, I'm sure you can tell him that yourself tomorrow, Hope Mikaelson." You commented, looking into her eyes, she smiled at you, flattered you had used her whole name. "Also, we are never fighting again because that was the worst thing ever." You complained.

Hope laughed as she rested her head on your shoulder, you wrapped an arm around her and resting your head on her head, enjoying the view of the moonlight hitting the water.
