RECAP
Josie gasped at Lizzie, looking up at her in slight betrayal. "You promised." Josie sadly said.
"Look, you're just back from a great visit with Mom, you're feeling good. This could be a great opportunity for a non-magic human to participate in the school's community." Lizzie explained, smiling down at her sister.
Josie closed her eyes, thinking about it before opening them again. "Can I... read the script at least?" Josie said, getting up and grabbing the script.
"Uh... Oh, yeah, I want to... It's... I... It's a work in..." Landon trailed off, stuttering as she grabbed the book quickly. When Josie opened it, all it said was 'ACT ONE' and nothing else. "...progress." Landon finished. "Um..." Lizzie and Josie looked at each other before back to Landon when he took the book back. "I'm working on it, okay?" He said before walking off.

You and Hope sat together in your room since Alyssa was gone and since she was gone, Hope decided to move back in, finally being with you again. You were laying on your bed, gazing at the ceiling while Hope laid next to you. "Do you think he's right?" You questioned, not taking your eyes off of the ceiling. Once you asked the questioned, you immediately felt embarrassed as you spoke before you thought.
You didn't want an argument but had been on your mind since Dr.Goodfellow mentioned it. "Who's right?" Hope questioned back, her gaze on your side profile.
You stayed quiet and closed your eyes before shaking your head and letting out a sigh. "It doesn't matter." You stated, trying to end the conversation your accidentally brought up.
Hope moved to lay on her side, resting a hand on your face and gently pulling you away from the ceiling to look at Hope. You stared into Hopes gorgeous blue eyes, getting lost in them. "Tell me." Hope commented, her voice barely above a whisper.
You let out another sigh. "Dr.Goodfellow. That all the fighting happening between you, me and Landon is because of our relationship?" You questioned, trying your hardest to word it correctly. You started speaking again since you didn't want to hear what Hope had to say. "Because I was so focused on trying to save Rafael with you that I completely forgot about Landon? And since I started the argument with Landonâwho went to you and caused you two to fight because of me?" You questioned.
"Is our relationship a problem to everyone? Are we not right for each other since everywhere we go, chaos most likely follows?" You kept questioned, all your thoughts running wild and slipping off your tongue.
Hope sat up, sitting with her legs crossed beneath her. You followed her actions, looking down. "Why would you think that, Kate?" Hope questioned, it was obvious she was upset and hurt you would think that. "Of course it's not our relationship." Hope commented.
You looked up from your hands and into Hopes eyes who was burning holes into your skull with her eyesâthat is if she could, she probably would be. "You don't know that! What if it is? What if we're the problem!" You countered back, both of you getting angry at each other.
Hope furrowed her eyebrows and narrowed her eyes, she then scoffed as she looked over your features, seeing you were actually believing the stupid thoughts in your mind. She then got up and started storming out. "Hope, wait-" She then slammed the door shut.
You let out a quick sigh, falling backwards onto your pillows before grabbing one and stuffing one over your face.

Once everyone stopped singing and finished the dance 'routine' Landon had 'planned out', he watched as people kept moving, unable to stay still. Landon then let out a quick breathe. "Let's take a break." He said, his voice breaking as he walked over to a table set up on the side of the court.
Landon started rubbing his face as the performance was terrible. "Hey." Jed called out, unfolding his piece of paper with his script on it. "I, uh, really didn't like my speech on page forty three, so I took a stab at rewriting it. Trust me, this is way better." Jed stated.
Landon turned around, taking the paper. "I'll add it to the pile." Landon deadpanned.
"Nice." Jed said before walking away.
Landon picked up the folder of new scripts and a coffee cup. "Hey." Josie greeted, causing Landon to stop what he was doing.
"Hi." Landon greeted back.
They then started walking together. "So, I don't get Elena at all. I mean, she can't decide what she wants, and when she finally does decide, she makes a super selfish choice." Josie explained.
Landon had placed his folder down on a different able, his back facing Josie. "Yeah, well, I think everything around her is changing, and she wants a normal life, so she chooses herself." Landon replied.
"Ah, see? Selfish." Josie retorted. "Oh, oh, and the ending song is all wrong. I mean, why would she sing about undying love when she's experienced so much loss?" Josie questioned, confused once again.
Landon then turned around, holding multiple papers in his hands. "Because I think the show is about never giving up on love, no matter what." Landon responded.
"You don't believe that, though, because you gave up on Kate, like, twice." Josie retorted. Landon looked at Josie, hurt, shocked, and confused why she just said that. Josie would have never said anything that rude.
Josie noticed his look and looked away, even wondering to herself why she said before walking off awkwardly. Landon let out a sigh as he held his papers. "Let's run Caroline's number next." Landon called out to the group.
Landon placed the song sheet in front of the pianist and stood next to the piano, watching Lizzie and she was the only one in the centre of the room. Lizzie started acting, making Landon get excited since this would be the first proper rehearsal but his excitement went away as Lizzie started walking off. "Sorry. I'm not feeling well today." Lizzie said before running off.
Josie started running after her sister, worried. Landon rubbed his face once again, getting agitated with the way this rehearsal was going.
Lizzie sat in her room, in front of her fire place. "I'm fine, Jo." Lizzie said, keeping her eyes closed as she held her bowl.
Josie stayed at the door. "Does that mean the bowl's working?" Josie questioned.
Lizzie scoffed lightly before looking down at the bowl. "Not even close." Lizzie responded. Josie then shut the door and moved to sit down in front of her sister. Lizzie looked to Josie from the fire. "I can't do this. I can't live up to our perfect mother. You should have played her. You two are more alike." Lizzie explained, tears coating her eyes.
"No, we're not." Josie retorted.
"You're both mature and... and thoughtful. I'm just a wild mess." Lizzie brought herself down. "I've made so much progress this year, but no matter how far I come, I can feel my own mind plotting against me, like it's trying to make me lose everything that I've worked for." Lizzie explained, playing with the bowl in her hands. "Mom became a vampire, and everything was just... clear. Like she had this one moment that set her whole life on course."
Lizzie had paused. "What if... I never get that?" Lizzie questioned. Josie looked to the ground, unsure of how to respond to that. Josie then looked back up and grabbed her sisters hand.

"I don't know how I'm gonna do this." Landon mumbled as he was resting his head on the desk in a whole heap of papers and books. He then lifted himself up and looked down at the sheets. "There's just... there's just too much going on. There's travelers and sirens, and Bonnie just disappears for long periods of time, and don't even get me started on Elena and the Sleeping Beauty spell." Landon complained.
Landon always had habits of speaking to himself when he was stressed or taking on to much than he could handle, like planning a whole musical. "I'm gonna have to change the whole ending." Landon concluded.
"I'm sure you'll make the right editorial decisions." Dr.Goodfellow commented, making his way down the stairs.
"Apparently, Dr.Saltzman used to be this badass, hard-boiled vampire hunter. And I think Caroline was one of his students." Landon stated, then scrunching up his face. "That's kind of weird." He said as he placed his hands on his face and let out a sigh. "Josie's right. I have no idea what I really want this play to be about. I have no idea what I'm really trying to say." Landon rambled.
He let out another sigh, hearing Dr.Goodfellow walk up to the table he was at from behind. He then stationed himself next to Landon. "Maybe there's a missing piece that will unlock the whole thing." He said, Landon looking up at him. He then brought a chair in front of Landon and sat down. "What if... there was a way for you to tell the story you want and get Kate and Hope back?" He suggested.
Landon seemed intrigued as he wanted to fix things between you and Hope since he hated fighting. Landon gave him confused looks though.
ââââ
Hope had returned to your room at night fall but you didn't bother asking where she went since she was kind of ignoring you ever since you brought up that you and her might be a problem.
Now she had started mixing paints together but all she did was stare at the blank canvas. Knocking was heard from the closed door of you room. You looked at Hope, expecting her to get it but you rolled your eyes softly and got out of bed.
Once your opened the door, yours aw Landon standing there. "Hey." He said, letting himself in.
You scoffed lightly at him not even asking to come in. Hope looked over at Landon, glancing at you as you crossed your arms as he stood a bit away from the door. "I just need to say something. Uh, this whole time I've been working on the show, it's felt like I was missing something, and I was." He paused.
Hope put down the paint brush, crossing her arms over her chest before turning back around to look at Landon. "You two." He stated. You glanced at Hope as you stood near your bedâwhich was near himâbefore back to him. "I was talking to Dr. Goodfellow about what your family used to say... always and forever..." Your family never said that so it was Hopes family that said that. "and the last song suddenly clicked, and... I want you to read it." He handed the sheet to Hope.
"And Kate, I was also talking to him about your family and how your family used to be one of the towns richest families since you were a founding family." He handed you a sheet of paper, a song about your family and it's riches.
"Also, you were right about our 'separation', or whatever this is. I was an absolute idiot. I want to stop fighting with you because I hate it when we fight. It makes me feel like we're back to being little kids and fighting over toys we both wanted in the adoption houses." Landon reminded you.
You looked up at him rom reading the lyrics. You remembered those times but it didn't bring a smile to your face or anything since you were quite pissed about what this song was about "You used the letter that my dad wrote me, that I let you read, as lyrics?" Hope questioned, anger lacing her tone as tears started forming in her eyes.
" 'I'm not gonna calm down. I would've done anything for you. And you chose death over me.' " You read out. You looked up at Landon. "Do you know who he said this too?" He shook his head. "My mom." You told him.
He looked between the two of you, confused what he had done. "Is that bad?" He questioned. Both you and Hope glared at him, you gripping the paper a bit more tightly now. "Okay, it's bad, but they're beautiful and poetic, and it shows both of your dads in such a great light." Landon explained.
"How does 'I'm not gonna calm down. I would've done anything for you. And you chose death over me.' say 'great light' to you?" You questioned, ultimately confused.
Hope then cut in. "I asked you not to use our families." Even as you were both were fightingâwhich Landon didn't know aboutâshe still protected you.
"And I tried, but he's literally the original vampire in Mystic Falls and your dad was the first original sired-hybrid of Klaus himself and is a rich founding family. Their one of the biggest parts of the whole story." Landon explained but you and Hope only looked at him, hurt and angry.
Landon looked away from both of your eyesights before looking back at them. "Look, I figured out what I want to say. What I believe about love and death and all of it. It's this." Landon stated, pointing to the two sheets of songs in both of your hands.
"Congratulations!" Hope said sarcastically. "You cleared up your musical problem." Hope stated, scrunching up the piece of paper before throwing it on the floor. She then turned back to her painting, grabbing the paint brush.
Landon looked towards you sadly but you crunched it up and did the same, moving towards your bed to continue working on your laptop and writing down things for school. Landon walked away, opening and shutting the door once he left.
Hope set down the palette of colours before letting out a sigh. Kate looked at Hope before looking back at her computer, continuing with her homework.
