Mates 91
Rejected Mate's Redemption (Freda and James)
Chapter 91
KAIDEN STIRLING
Freda saw how I wanted to take Harper outside to eat and she stopped me. âWhere are you going?
Didnât you come out to eat here?â She asked as her eyes narrowed in suspicion.
âYeah, but something came up so we have to leaveâ, 1 lied through gritted teeth. I just couldnât bear to be in the same place with Freda when I knew she was out with another man.
âOr youâre leaving because of me? Because Harper wants to eat with Cisco. I donât see the reason why you must deny her that or why your âbusiness meetingâ canât wait, unless youâre trying to avoid me?â
âIâm not avoiding you, thereâs no reason for me to do that. Infact, Harper honey you can eat with Ciscoâ I stated in a loud tone.
âGoodâ Freda said with a raised brow as she guided Cisco and the man to a table while I stood rooted to my spot as I watched them take a seat at the far end of the room close to the window.
I was still frozen in my spot when Harper tugged me. âDaddy, letâs go join themâ she said with a big grin on her face that I couldnât resist. Sighing, I let her tug me in their direction as we took a seat in front of them.
It was a booth table, so Freda sat in the middle of Cisco and Cole while Harper sat beside Cisco as they chatted happily.
Seeing Harperâs happy face, I was a bit relieved that her sour

mood from earlier had been erased.
I was happy that I and Freda were sitting this close to each other though it wouldnât have been possible with ut our kids but I was going to savor every moment of it.
1 could see her up close and d*** me if I didnât notice that she had become more beautiful. She glowed. The way she laughed at something Cisco said and the way she was at ease with the kids filled me with emotion.
Then I thought of how Safiya behaved at home and my mood soured. These two were the complete opposite of each other.
âFreda, here, looks like you need more ketchupâ. Cole stated as he passed Freda the ketchup bottle and deliberately brushed his fingers with hers. Freda didnât seem to notice but I did, and I almost growled at him..
This guy was clearly passing his boundaries. He needed to be kept under control but now was not the time. I continued to stare daggers at him but he was to engrossed with his conversation with Freda to notice.
There was nothing I could do, so just directed my anger to the plate of fries as I stabbed the fries with my fork angrily. I listened in on their conversation.
Freda just seemed to be making small talks but the guy wouldnât stop staring at her. He could listen without looking at Freda in the eye like she was his everything! âWhat was his problem?â.
âSo, Coleâ I stated unable to control myself any longer. âHow long are you staying?â I asked with a strained smile. He glanced

warily at me.
âA whileâ he replied. âDo you have a problem with me being here?âhe asked. D**n, he was very direct with words, the n***a must have noticed I didnât like him.
âNo, just askingâ I replied with a smile as I resumed eating, Freda just shook her head at my behavior and they continued. their conversation. Soon, we finished eating and I was filled with two emotions.
The first one was happiness that at least Cole would stop looking at Freda while the second was sadness that my time with Freda was over.
But I saw the way she sneaked peeks at me from other her lashes when she thought I wasnât looking. Our eyes met a few times during the meal and I smiled at the thought.
Freda gave Harper a big hug. âBe a good girl, honeyâ she stated. as she rubbed her hair affectionately and Harper smiled in return and Cisco hugged her too. I smiled at their adorableness.
âBye-bye, Ciscoâ Harper waved happily as they left and soon. after I and and Harper also exited the returned home.
We arrived at the house and before we could settle down Safiya rushed in. âSo youâre both finally back?â She scoffed. âAfter refusing to eat the food I made?â She yelled and I was immediately filled with anger.
âTake it easy woman, itâs already late. Harper honey, please go to your room, daddy and mommy have something to discuss okay?â I stated with a smile and Harper nodded and casted a glance at her mother before going to her room.

âYou better learn to control yourself around your daughter, donât push your daughter away because of your behaviorâ, I warned.
âAnd whose fault is it?â she yelled angrily. âYouâre the one whoâs trying cause a rift between my daughter and 1â. She stated as she sobbed hysterically.
âI donât have the time for this Safiya, all I can say is that your prepare yourself, we are going to the pack council tomorrow and you will apologize to Fredaâ. I disclosed and her eyes bulged in shock as she wiped her tears quickly.
âNo way, Iâm not apologizing to that home wreckerâ. She said. âYou will, you must. Tommorow, weâll go to the pack council and you will apologize nicely to Freda for accusing her wronglyâ. I stated in my Alpha tone and walked out before she could form a reply.
I walked to Harperâs room and saw her sitting quietly on the bed. I knew she couldnât fall asleep unless we read her a bedtime story. Safiya used to do that before butâ¦
âSweetheartâ, I stated softly. âLetâs get you tucked inâ. I laid her gently on the bed and picked up her favorite book and was about to start reading it to her when her next words stopped
me.
âDaddy where you and mummy arguing again?â She asked innocently. I knew she was angry with her mother but deep down I knew Harper still loved Safiya greatly and I wasnât going to destroy that.
âNo honey, daddy and mummy were just sorting out some things. Now donât you worry and go to sleepâ I assured as I -stroked her head and she nodded.

I read her favorite book for her and halfway through the book, she fell asleep. I dropped the book on the nightstand and gave her a light kiss on the cheek. I adjusted the duvet properly on her body and turned out the lights and closed the door gently behind me.
I walked to my room and found Safiya waiting there for me. I was not surprised for Safiya never gave up on anything.
âPlease, Kaiden donât make me apologize to Freda, itâs not fairâ. She begged as tears fell from her eyes. I was almost sorry for her but I stopped myself.
âNot fair? Safiya you say itâs not fair? Let me tell you whatâs not fair. Whatâs not fair was you making a mother kneel down and beg in front of a council for something she didnât doâ.
âAnd when youâre asked to do the same, you say itâs not fair?. Safiya, get one thing straight.
Tomorrow we are going to the pack council and you will apologize. Even if it means me dragging you there. Do you understand?â I growled and color drained from her cheeks.
Now she could have a taste of her own medicine!
