Rejected Mate's Redemption (Freda and James)
Chapter 77
FREDA WHITLOCK
Immediately Harper confessed that Cisco wasnât the one that pushed her, I immediately heaved a breath of relief. It wasnât like I didnât trust my son but kids could be confused at times and who knows, Harper could have been influenced by Safiyaâs yelling and blame Cisco in the midst of her fear.
I turned back to see a crawling Safiya on the floor. Serves her right! I thought, then shifted my gaze to Kaiden. He looked ashamed as he tried to avoid my stare.
I couldnât care less if he wanted the ground to open up and swallow him. I was going to make him regret his actions. I should have felt guilty for slapping him but I did not.
I was tired of their games. Narrowing my eyes, I began to speak, breaking the tense silence in the room.
âI hope the both of you heard clearly what Harper just said. In case you didnât, Iâd like to clarify it for you all. Cisco didnât push Harperâ. I tried to hide the hurt in my voice as I finished.
âFreda, Iâm sorryâ¦â¦..â. âEnough Kaiden I donât want to hear itâ I stated as I waved my hand in the air to brush his apology off. âDid he think that a mere apology would solve everything?â âA mere apology would restore my dignity?â My tarnished image?
âDid he think a mere apology would heal the trauma that Cisco faced?â If he thought so he was clearly a big joker and should

Images of me kneeling down in front of the pack council for a crime I didnât commit as my dignity was ripped off me flashed through my mind and I saw red. I wasnât going to let this go so easily.
All I ever wanted since I came back here was just peace and quiet but clearly Safiya didnât wish that for me and Kaiden wasnât helping matters either. He couldnât stand up for me,yet he could apologize?
No way! The only way this was going to end was me giving them a taste of their own medicineâ.
With that thought in mind, I smirked as I turned to face Safiya and I crossed my arms. âThe only way Iâll accept your apology is if Safiya kneels in front of the pack council and apologizes sincerely for wrongly accusing me and my son for attempted murderâ.
âOnly then will I accept your apology,â I stated and Safiya was red with fury and embarrassment.
She probably never thought Iâd ask her to do the same thing she did to me.
âHell no, Iâm never going to do thatâ. Safiya yelled angrily as she moved to face Kaiden. âKaiden, say something, sheâs being absurd,â she yelled as she tugged on his shirt. But Kaiden remained silent.
I sneered inwardly, what a coward! He couldnât stand up for his wife, he couldnât stand up for me.
âThen the only thing left is for you to be arrested by the pack police,â I stated in a firm tone.
Accusing someone wrongly is a crime and could lead to a few

years in prisonâ. I stated as I flicked some imaginary dirt off my nails with a bored expression.
âYouâ¦â she growled as she attempted to lurch forward to attack me but Lyra pushed her off sending her s***g back.
âDonât you have any shame? You should feel guilty right now yet you still have the nerve to fight?
Your way of thinking appalls meâ Lyra stated as she scrunched her nose in disgust.
âAnd you Mr Alpha, you knew your wife was clearly accusing Freda wrongly yet you watched and said nothing when Freda was forced to kneel and apologize in front of the council for something she didnât do? And you call yourself a leader?â She mocked and Kaiden clenched his jaw but remained mute.
I knew Lyra had been waiting for her turn to hurl insults at Kaiden but he was still an Alpha and judging from the way he was clenching his jaw tightly his tolerance was close to snapping but I did enjoy the way Lyra put them both in their place. It took every ounce of self control not to burst out laughing at the facial expressions of Kaiden and Safiya. But she had to stop now. I didnât want to put her in danger.
âLyra, itâs enoughâ I stated as I held her hand and drew her close to me. I still didnât trust Kaidenâs anger. I gave Lyra a look that said âthis is my fight, I want to do it aloneâ and she nodded and stopped talking.
âI hope I have made my point clear, itâs either you kneel in front of the pack council and apologize or you get arrested by the pack police. There are no two ways about itâ. I stated and gave Safiya and Kaiden one last glare and walked out with Lyra and Cisco by my side.

Immediately we got outside I heaved a breath of relief and my tensed shoulders relaxed a little.
Having to face Safiya and Kaiden always drained my energy. It was a constant headache dealing with both of them.
âSo, were you satisfied with Harperâs answer?â Lyra asked, interrupting my thoughts. Yes I am, I replied with a light smile.
âHonestly, I was a bit afraid she might not speak the truth maybe due to fear or Safiyaâs manipulation but she didnât cave in. Sheâs a good kidâ.
âMummyâ, came Ciscoâs sweet voice that always melted my heart. âDidnât you believe me before when I told you I didnât push Harper?â He asked with tears in his eyes.
âOf course honey, I would always believe you. No matter what anyone says, itâs just sometimes people like Safiya and Kaiden need to hear things from the horseâs mouthâ.
âNow that Harper confirmed that you didnât push her, they have no reason to go around spreading rumors that you did it. Do you understand?â I asked him as I crouched down and ruffled his hair.
âYes mummyâ, he stated with a big smile on his face. âGood, now letâs leave this forsaken placeâ
Lyra stated in an exhausted tone and we all laughed.
Safiya might have humiliated me first but I was getting the last laugh.
