Georgina had gone too far with that statement. Why did she have to bring that up here when father wasn’t feeling well? This woman clearly wanted to destroy my life.

We glared at each other hard. Just then Lyra spoke up, breaking the silence as she stepped between us. “What do you mean by that statement?”

“We all here know very well that Cisco wasn’t responsible for Harper’s accident. How many times do you need us to recite it?” She spat.

“Oh please, keep your suggestions to yourself. I wasn’t speaking to you. Besides you aren’t part of this family, so what gives you the right to speak back at me?” Georgina asked venomously.

Cisco by this time was already crying. I had tried so very hard to make him feel at ease all day.

Things were finally okay only for my stepmom to come here and ruin everything.

“Georgina, that’s enough, stop causing a scene. This is the hospital”. Father commanded. He still had that authoritative voice despite him being weak.

“I’m not causing a scene that’s exactly what happened. This child here pushed Harper down the stairs now the poor child is fighting for her life at the hospital” she stated as she spilled a few tears.

We both knew those tears were fake. But I had to give it to Georgina, she was a great actress. But lies weren’t good enough to beat the truth.

“I-I didn’t push Harper down the stairs” Cisco croaked out as he choked on a s**b. He wiped his eyes with the back of his hands as he stated more firmly. “I didn’t push Harper”.

“Oh, of course you didn’t,” Georgina replied sarcastically. “You just tickled her and she fell right?”

“Georgina, that’s enough?” Father bellowed and for a minute everyone went still. “Stop accusing the poor kid. He clearly stated he didn’t do it. Why don’t you believe him? He’s also your grandson for crying out loud”.

“Why do you only show love towards Safiya and not Freda?” he asked and for a minute I was surprised. So father had noticed Georgina only cared for Safiya. I mean who wouldn’t notice,it was as clear as day but, the fact that he voiced out had me loving him more.

Georgina appeared shocked for a minute at father’s accusation but she quickly masked it up. “I don’t only show love towards Safiya, I’m only telling Freda to have more control over her son or he might turn into a murderer”.

“Enough” I bellowed in a loud tone. “That’s enough Georgina. I have had enough of you accusing my son, Cisco and I will not stand here and watch you do it anymore. You have crossed the line. I know you hate me but keep my son out of it”. I warned as I channeled my anger into every single word I spoke.

Georgina appeared shocked. She even flinched back a little. My father and Lyra looked shocked as they had never seen me use

I was surprised myself but I was no longer the naive, gentle girl they knew. I was a mother. And I was a mother who was tired of seeing her son being accused of something he didn’t do.

I was a mother who was tired of seeing her son look helpless and unable to defend himself. I was a mother who was ready to defend and destroy anyone who dared to lay a finger on her child.

Georgina, Safiya, Kaiden, I was tired of their emotional blackmail, I wasn’t going to do this anymore.

Kaiden who couldn’t decide whether he should stand up for his wife or his mate. Who wasn’t ready to sacrifice anything for me? Yet he wanted to be close to his son?

Safiya, who reveled in the sight of me being humiliated. Who watched me being stripped of every honor I ever had with a big smile on her face? Someone who loathed the fact that she was

related to me?

Georgina, my so called stepmom, trying to act like she had any right over my life after ruining it? To hell with all of them! And here I was thinking we could make amends and act like a big happy family.

We were never going to be a happy family! I was still seething in anger as all these thoughts ran through my mind, just at the tip of my tongue. All I just had to do was utter them.

But one glance at my father had me shutting my mouth. He was already very stressed as it was. I wasn’t going to be a child that added to her father’s worries.

Chapter 72

“You’re a really good actress Freda”, Georgina stated as she closed the distance between us again.

“A seductress at day but a good daughter at night” she mocked and that was when she broke the camel’s back.

“Look who’s talking. You’re only a s-t-e-p mother”. I spelt it out so she could feel every ounce of hatred I had for her in her bones. I knew I was being a jerk and I had maybe crossed the line but she deserved it.

She tried to speak but I cut her off. “Since you aren’t even my biological mother, stop meddling in my family’s business. It shouldn’t concern you whether I decide to be a seductress, w**e or a murderer. So you have no right to accuse my son and I would tolerate such action from you”.

Georgina stared at me all wide eyed with a red face that could burst any minute from anger. A glance to my side and Lyra stood proud with a big smirk on her face. She had always wanted to bring out the b**s in me. I would have smiled a little but I was too angry to do so.

I grabbed Cisco and muttered a quick goodbye to Father and stormed out of the room leaving a stunned stepmom behind.

Now she had just been given a taste of her own medicine. She should relish it!
