AUTHOR’S POV

Georgina stormed out of the ward with Safiya trailing behind her. Georgina was furious. How dare Kaiden send her away! And that b**h Freda watched on? This was all her fault. Ever since that Freda girl came back she had been thwarting all her plans. She thought angrily as she stomped off.

Safiya who had been running after her mother finally caught up to her. She held her mother’s hand but one hard glare from Georgina silenced whatever words she planned to speak out.

‘Okay now was not the time,’ Safiya thought as she waifor her mother to blow off her steam. She knew her mother was insulted by Kaiden, but she didn’t deserve the transfer of aggression her mother showed her. Nevertheless, she would wait until they got home and then they would talk.

They got into Georgina’s the driver who had been

waiting for them took them home. All through the ride Safiya and her mother said nothing to each other, both of them

occupied by their own thoughts.

Safiya was thinking about Kaiden’s recent behaviour. ‘How could he side with Freda?’ What was so special about Freda that he had to neglect his own wife and child? She thought as angry tears threatened to spill.

By the time they got home, Safiya was a crying mess as s**t was falling freely from her nose and her eyes were puffy.

Georgina, upon seeing Safiya rushed up to her.

“What’s wrong dear?”, she asked with concern. “Is it because of the way I treated you? I’m so sorry, I was just so angry at the time”. She stated as she helped Safiya to a chair nearby.

Safiya shook her head in the negative. “N-no, Mum,it’s not you, it’s just that I don’t know what to do anymore”. She said between hiccups. “Kaiden no longer loves me, he loves Freda now” she croaked out as she kept her face in her hands and sobbed harder.

“That’s not true dear. He is only brainwashed….”, “No Mother, I know what I’m saying, h-he loves Freda, can’t you see how soft his gaze was when he was talking to her. He even defended her and her son too”. Safiya stated in heavy breaths as she continued on.

“I don’t know what to do anymore, mother. Kaiden won’t even look at me or talk to me unless it’s related to Freda. We don’t even sleep together. I’ve never hated Freda as much as I hate her now.

She has ruined everything. Why didn’t she just stay wherever she stayed for the past six years?

Why did she have to return?” Safiya asked in despair.

“Safiya darling” Georgina called her in a honey coated voice as she removed her hands from her face and made her look at her. “You shouldn’t stress now, especially in this condition…”. “stress mother, stress?” Safiya asked as she cut her mother off.

“That’s all I have been hearing for the past week. I shouldn’t stress because of the baby, nobody cares about me. If you all don’t want me to stress, then you should get rid of Freda!” She yelled furiously.

“I’m telling you not to stress because I have a plan that will destroy whatever hold Freda has on Kaiden”. Georgina stated triumphantly. Freda raised her eyebrows and dried her eyes quickly.

“Really,mother? What’s the plan?” She asked curiously. “I’m still making some adjustments to the plan, I’ll reveal it when the time is right”. Georgina disclosed slowly.

“Okay, mother, but when will the time be right?” Safiya asked again. Time was running out. Who knows what more havoc Freda will cause before her mother reveals her plan. “Soon” Georgina replied with a smile as she refused to say more.

“Go freshen up and rest dear. You’ll need it”. She stated and Safiya nodded as she sighed. She knew there was no poin bugging her mother about it. When she didn’t want to reveal a particular thing, no soothsayer could talk her into spilling it.

Safiya gave her mother a quick hug and went to her room. She was a bit calmer now. She would trust her mother to handle things now. She had always been on her side and would never let her down.

Minutes later, Safiya was done having her bath and as she walked into the room with nothing on, Kaiden walked in. It had been a while Kaiden had entered her room and right now he was looking at her naked body. Safiya was surprised and blushed immediately. But then something was off, he didn’t seem to appreciate what he saw,he barely had any reaction at all.

“Why are you here?” Safiya asked c**ly, barely sparing a glance in Kaiden’s direction. “We need to talk”, he replied, barely

affected by her state of undress.

“About? Safiya inquired with the same mask of indifference. “You still have to come out in public and tell the council that I never meant to harass you,” he disclosed.

‘Of course’ Safiya thought. It was always about his reputation, a part of her hoped he was here to talk about their depressing relationship but he had disappointed her again. And he was going to regret it.

If he wanted to toy with her feelings then she was going to show him that she could play his games too. She slowly walked to her closet, patiently taking her time to select her outfit and she knew her actions were making Kaiden irritated.

And she smirked a little before hiding it quickly. After wearing her clothes,she turned slowly and crossed her arms as she looked at Kaiden who glared at her with a scowl on his face. He knew she was deliberately stalling him but he was somehow at her mercy now and could do nothing about it.

“I will only do as you say once Freda apologizes to me in public concerning her son trying to murder Harper” she stated and Kaiden’s scowl deepened.
