Rejected Mate's Redemption (Freda and James)
Chapter 61
FREIDA WHITLOCK
Lyraâs laughter didnât stop. She continued knowing well it could get to every nerve in Georginaâs body. And I loved it. The look on the duoâs faces was to live for. I donât think I had seen Georgina more infuriated as she was the the moment.
By this time, Cisco had stopped crying and was hiccuping. For the both of us, we had calmed down knowing Lyra was here on our behalf.
âWhat do you think, that you can go around implicating peop. and not get called out for it?â Lyra asked, her tone mocking.
I looked up.
Georgina wasnât dealing well with it and fueled by Lyraâs words, she turned to the poor nurse who seemed to shudder at the sight of the angry woman
âWhat do you mean by that? Are you accusing me of the charade she started?â She fumed, âIâm sure she mustâve paid you off to come here and insult meâ She cast Lyra a demeaning glance.
Lyra wasnât bothered, she glared back, unyielding.
The nurse shook her head, âIt wasnât an accusation maâam, I only stated the fact which is there had been commotion here before her arrival. She has nothing to do with thisâ

Safiya scoffed and rolled her eyes.
âI donât think you know how to do your job properly. You donât question people how they handle their matters, what you do is make sure they get taken care of which is not the case with my granddaughter. How come sheâs still not awake? Can you tell me that?â Georgina yelled and the nurse sighed.
âMaâam please stop shouting. There are other patients around trying to get some rest. And itâs also a school, the students might get distractedâ
Lyra started laughing again upon hearing the nurseâs words. It was logical to know that the classrooms were not near the infirmary at all. All the nurse was trying to do without coming off rude was try to stop Georgina from yelling. However, one could feel her frustration. Her fists were balled by her sides as she kept a calm face.
Very professional. I respect her more for that.
âAre you insinuating that my mom is causing a commotion in the school?â Safiya asked through gritted teeth.
âWho else do you expect her to confront other than this lady filled with bully genes?â Lyra spoke before the nurse could respond and they gasped.
âLyraâ¦â I called softly, cautioning her with my voice. I loved that she cared and was standing up for me but I think she was going too far. No matter what, Safiya was she Luna and disrespect like this could cause her a lot. Safiya already had bad blood with us and was looking for every means to harm us. This would be the height of it.

I didnât want to lose my friend because of a tiny issue that Safiya had purposely blown up.
âI think that bravery of yours would be wiped off soon. I wonât let this slide, you b**h!â
âI truly canât wait to see what you do. I dare you to try, I swear, Iâll snap your bony neck off your body!â Lyra retorted and Georginaâs eyes flashed with fury. Her wolf was not taking it anymore and I felt Gia slowly creep out of her shell. I guess she could feel the tension and menacing presence of Georginaâs wolf.
She was ready for a fight but I didnât want that especially when Cisco was frozen in my arms out of horror.
âPlease ladies-â The nurse was rudely cut off by Georginaâs angry snap, âShut up!â
The heated exchange between the three of them continued with the nurse in between pleading with them to stop. It was so loud that I was having a headache. No matter how much I tried to calm Lyra down she didnât want to listen. Ciscoâs hold tightened around me and he buried his face in my chest and began to cry again.
This was too much for me to bear.
Their exchange paused at Kaidenâs sudden entry into the ward. He didnât look pleased as she gazed at everyone in the room.
âWhatâs going on here?â His voice thundered across the room, his eyes flickering between the usual normal color of his eyeballs. His wolf was having it, he wanted control. The nurse quickly scrambled out of the room. She must think we were

mentally unstable. Maybe we were and I bet sheâd never forget that interaction ever. Who would?
âAsk your mother-â A glare from Kaiden shut Lyra up at once.
He faced Georgina and she smiled feeling she had him on her side. Safiya looked happy as well but their excitement was shattered when he spoke.
âI could hear your voice while on my way up. Why the hell were you yelling knowing well that your granddaughter is in the room and would be getting some rest?
âShe started it by insulting my daughter, your wife. I just wanted to put some sense in her headâ
Georgina said and Lyra hissed, aloud before walking out.
âGet out!â Kaiden ordered when Lyra was out. He turned to Georgina who seemed clueless at the command.
âWhat?â She asked when she realized she was the one being sent out.
How did she not know earlier?
âYouâre asking me to leave? Iâm here to see my granddaughterâ Georgina seemed scared when he glared at her, the aura of his wolf intimidating. She shrunk back fearfully.
It was a sight to behold since Georgina had been acting all high and mighty. Who knew she could also be scared of someone?
âKaidenâ She called, sounding surprised. âLeave, immediatelyâ He spat and she hurried out of the room.
Gia laughed, squealing the fact that her mate

so hot asking her to leave which was absurd because I didnât find any of that alluring. He was a d**k for all I cared.
âKaiden, why did you send my mother out? She did nothing wrong other than ask who harmed Harperâ Safiya confronted him, rounding the bed to come to his side. Meanwhile, Kaiden tucked his hands in his pockets as he stared back and forth between Cisco and me.
There was a flicker in his eyes I almost missed and his forehead creased. When his eyes rested on Cisco, he frowned deeply.
âShe was yellingâ Calmly, he responded to Safiya who was now tugging at his arm.
Gia scoffed in my head seeing the action. I looked away to ignore them.
âShe was too. Itâs her fault mom had to yellâ Safiya told him, pointing at me.
Kaidenâs eyes didnât leave Cisco who was in my arms. He didnât seem to hear his wife blaming me for her overboard actions. Safiya noticed he wasnât listening and snapped, âKaiden, Iâm talking to you, look at me, and in case youâve forgotten, your daughter is right here!â
He sighed, wearily. âSafiya, I know our daughter is over there but can you see the condition of others for once? The boy is
obviously traumatized because of the vile exchange of words he had to listen toâ
âAnd whose fault is it? His motherâs!â She snapped and looked at him only to find his eyes glued to Cisco by my side. Her face dropped briefly in disappointment and a flash of sadness before

returning to a full-on mask of anger and hate.
Again, I felt bad for her. Again, I didnât blame her but Kaiden. He was the only one to be blamed.
After all the problems he had caused, he was making the same mistake again. When would he learn?
âDo you care about that boy so much that youâve forgotten about our daughter? You havenât even looked at her since your got here. What is wrong with you, Kaiden?â She yelled.
âSafiya, unlike you who is heartless, I care about him and thereâs nothing that can be done about it He blurted nonchalantly and her shoulders slumped. She looked shocked, defeated, and hopeless at once.
Subconsciously, I clutched Cisco close to me. I felt pity for her. I didnât want to imagine myself in her position because from the looks of it, it sucked and Kaiden had no idea it did.
Staring at him in disbelief, she cast me a glance that sent chills down my spine. It was a dark look I had never seen on her face before. It got me scared for what was to come. She picked up her phone and brushing against Kaidenâs shoulder angrily, stormed out of the ward.
