Chapter 56
FREDA WHITLOCK
I couldnât believe my ears at the accusation pointed against my son. âKeep quiet, do you even know the weight of what youâre saying?â I asked the little kid who claimed to have seen my dear Cisco push Harper down the stairs.
âMy son would never harm a fly, not to mention Harper of all people. They are good friends. Friends donât do that to each otherâ. I stated as I glared at the kid who dared to accuse my
son.
âIâm not lying maâam, I did see your son push Harper down the stairsâ. The kid insisted and my scowl deepened. âYouâre lyingâ I accused. âMy son would never do that to Harperâ
âHe did, maâamâ he insisted and he turned to Ciscoâs class teacher, Mrs Campbell. âMrs Campbell, Cisco really pushed Harper down the stairs. Iâm not lyingâ. The kid kept insisting that Cisco was at fault but I didnât believe a single word he uttered.
Miss Campbell noticing the tension the childâs accusation was bringing had to intervene. âSteve dear, you may leave now, your observation has been duly notedâ she stated. And the boy left but not after sending a serious glare in Ciscoâs direction.
I couldnât believe my ears, âwhy did all these people think Cisco was the one at fault?â The kid was so gentle and kind. There was some conspiracy I couldnât understand going on here. Was it a coincidence that the two kids got injured at the same time?
I was still in my thoughts when Safiya resumed her yelling. âThat child clearly saw what happened, Cisco pushed my dear Harper down the stairsâ she yelled angrily as she strode in front of me.
She raised her finger at me as she threatened. âIf anything happens to my daughter Harper, Iâm going to make you payâ. She glared at me menacingly and I was too stunned to speak. It took a while before I could recollect myself to form a reply.
âMy son didnât harm Harper, it seemed like you didnât catch that earlier when I said itâ. I stated for the umpteenth time. I donât know what issue Safiya had with me, but she seemed bent on making my life miserable.
âOh, what do I even expect from a mother who goes behind seducing other peopleâs husbands. I shouldnât expect less from her sonâ. She scoffed as she crossed her arms.
I was beyond mortified as Safiya uttered that stament. Miss Campbell who had been listening to the conversation coughed uncomfortably behind me.
âSafiya, thatâs enough. Youâve said enough for one day. Freda is your sister for crying out loud. Be considerate in your accusationsâ he stated firmly.
âI will notâ she yelled. âNot until she publicly apologizes for her son trying to murder my daughterâ.
âApologize?â,she was clearly joking I couldnât take the insults anymore and I retorted back.
âI will not apologize for anything, because my son did not push your daughter down the stairs. You have gone too far with this Safiya. I am only being considerate because of your state. But donât you dare forget that I am still your older sister. So show mo como respectâ.
For a second, Safiya seemed shocked by my bo
quickly recovered. âOr what Freda? What will you do? Will you murder my unborn child too just like you tried to murder daughter?â She asked as she closed the distance between us, her eyes challenging me.
âWho knows? Maybe you sent your son to push my daughter down the stairs, because you claim he isnât guilty but what if he was coerced into doing it. You know what I think Freda, I think youâre the real culprit here. A murdererâ. She stated as she emphasized the last word.
âEnough, Safiya. If you say one more word. You would not like the result from itâ. Kaiden bellowed in a loud voice and with an aura that had everyone silent within minutes.
Just then, the doctors walked in and that immediately occupied everyoneâs attention as we rushed over to them. âHello, Iâm Doctor Russell and here beside me is Doctor Marcus, we are here to examine the childrenâ he stated
âOf course, please do so Kaiden spoke on behalf of all of usâ. We quickly made way for them to pass and they examined the kids and took notes. Unable to hide my anxiety, I asked. âWhat does the report say, will the children be okay?â I asked
anxiously.
Dr Russell took a deep breath and sighed. âThe boy is fine, he only sustained a mild concussion so heâll wake up soonâ. And I heaved a heavy breath of relief.
âWhat about my daughter?â Safiya asked curiously. âThe girl had some serious injuries so it might take a day for her to regain consciousness. We still have to run some testsâ. The doctor disclosed âPlease excuse meâ he stated and walked out with

the other doctor.
Safiya slumped to the ground but Kaiden was quick to hold her. My heart twisted in pain that he still loved her but I pushed those feelings away.
Safiya was quick to regain herself as she suddenly rushed in front of me. Her eyes blazing in anger.
âYou did thisâ she
accused. âThis was all your master plan so you can take Kaiden away from meâ.
âSafiyaâ Kaiden warned in a harsh tone. âIâve told you itâs
enough. Freda is just as worried about the kids just as you are. Her son was also injuredâ. He stated.
âBut heâs going to wake up soon but my daughter might ke up tomorrow. Itâs still under probabilityâ
she yelled as she pounded Kaidenâs chest with her fists as Kaiden tried desperately to restrain her.
She freed herself from his grip as she stared deep into his eyes. âKaiden you tell me, what is your role here?. Why are you supporting Freda instead of me? Itâs our daughterâs life that is at stake. You should be on my side. That kid even said he saw Cisco do it, so why?â she asked with tearful eyes.
Kaiden kept silent but the answer was clear. Devastated, Safiya s**d her bag from the chair and stormed out in anger.
