couldnât be thinking about that right now. I was supposed to hate Kaiden. Besides his confession meant nothing, it didnât change anything.
âStop giving me bad advice, Giaâ snapped as I continued thinking of ways to make Kaiden attend the ceremony. âSuit yourself thenâ she grumbled and left me alone.
The teacher had made it mandatory that Ciscoâs father must attend, there was no way I could avoid it.
Cisco was already very happy that he was chosen among the successful candidates, I couldnât withdraw that right I knew he clearly deserved.
But I couldnât ask Kaiden either. I was stuck between a rock and a hard place. Frustrated, I let out a loud groan as I walked to the kitchen to get a cup of coffee and returned to the living room as I plopped down on the couch and rubbed my temples slowly.
I had to think of something quickly. Could I hire someone to act as Ciscoâs father? No, it would be obvious and I probably wonât find anyone on such short notice.
No werewolf would want to act on my behalf, not to mention humans, they were barely allowed in the pack territory.
âCole? No, I couldnât ask that of Cole,it would be too much. That would mean me taking advantage of his kindness and I didnât want any weird rumors to start going around. I already had enough on my plate. I wasnât willing to add more to it.
âSo why did the teacher have to make it compulsory that the two parents must attend. What if a kid didnât have parents?â

I groaned, I was being ridiculous but why did things have to be so difficult. The last few days had been stringed with bad luck.
It was always from one problem to another, each one more complex than the last.
If only everything was okay. If only Kaiden accepted me, we would have been living a happy, peaceful life.
He didnât accept me then, he wouldnât accept me now so there was no way I could make him attend the ceremony.
âFredaâ Lyra called, disrupting me from my thoughts as I quickly sat up straight on the couch.
âWhatâs wrong, you look distressed?â She asked and I sighed. âThatâs because Iâm confusedâ I stated. âI donât know what to do anymoreâ I stated with teary eyes.
Lyra upon seeing my reaction rushed to join me on the couch. âTalk to me, Freda, what happened?â
Sniffling back my tears I started to speak. âItâs the award. ceremony. The teacher said Cisco would be removed from the list of awardees if his two parents donât show up for the ceremonyâ.
âHow can I invite Kaiden?, he obviously wonât show up especially with Safiya around but I donât want Cisco to be disqualified eitherâ.
âWhat do I do Lyra? Why does everything have to be so difficult for me? Iâm tired,â I stated as the reality of things dawned on
me.
Lyra hugged me as she rubbed my shoulders in a comforting manner. âDonât fret, we would figure it outâ. She stated and I looked up at her.
âHow?â, I sniffed. âWe can talk to Kaiden together, we should be able to convince himâ. Lyra suggested.
âDo you think heâll accept? Lyra, I know Kaiden, heâll never accept because he knows I despise him and he despises me tooâ I stated
âWell I donât think so. As much as I hate to admit, Iâve seen the way he looks at you Freda. The man is clearly trying to get into your good booksâ.
âIf thatâs not enough to convince you, the declaration he made at the pack council is enough evidence, not that I support you two coming back together, Iâm just stating the factsâ she said as she sighed.
âYou think so?â, I asked doubtfully. âWell, even if itâs not true, I think he would do it for Cisco, at least he would want to fulfill his fatherly duties to himâ, Lyra disclosed and I saw the reason for what she said.
âYouâre right! I could use that to my advantageâ, I said as I wiped the tears away from my face. âThe thing is how do we go about it?â.
âSimple, youâll just send the invitation letter to his office then you can call him later. Thatâs more formal, that way heâll know thereâs no emotion attached to it, just formalityâ. Lyra stated and I nodded in agreement.
âYeah, we can do that. Thank you Lyra I donât know what Iâd 1

have done without youâ I said with a voice filled with emotion. Lyra would always be there for me no matter the situation.
âOh come on now, donât shed any more tears, itâs making me uncomfortableâ, she joked and we laughed.
âLetâs send it quickly,â she said and I nodded. We drafted up the invitation letter in a professional manner and sent it to Kaidenâs office and I silently prayed to the goddess that he would acknowledge it.
