“You…are you leaving already?” I asked, staring in disbelief at the sweaty Kaiden who was pulling on his pants.

We had just finished having sex in my room and the air still smelled of his musky scent, a scent that made my wolf purr gladly.

“Soon Freda I promise you” and that was the last thing he said. before he left my room, closing the door softly behind him.

That wasn’t a lie, neither was it a joke, my younger sister Safiya was the fairest amongst the two of us.

With her shimmering blonde hair and Emerald green eyes, her caramel skin which she had inherited from our Dad and her curvy body, Safiya was the ideal girlfriend according to physical standards.

“KAIDEN” she squealed, confirming my fears.

“I have a crush on him” I mumbled to her.

My sister who was lost in her happy go lucky fantasies didn’t hear what I had said so she turned towards me with raised eyebrows “Huh? You say?”

“Nothing ” I replied quickly and lowered my head.

My heart was hurting terribly but consoled myself ‘Freda, it’s just a s**d crush, your mate is on his way and he would be much better and handsome than Kaiden’.

But no matter how hard I tried to ignore that crushing feeling in my chest, it still grew.

Everyday that I saw my younger sister, glued tightly to Kaiden, acting lovey dovey, there would be a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach.

Like I was the one that should be in my sister’s place but I knew that it was just jealousy acting in me.

I thought it was so until my 18th birthday, when I got my wolf and found out that Kaiden was my mate.

That night was the most traumatic moment of my life and I could still remember the conversation we had that day.

“You …are my mate ?” I had asked him, bewildered and wondering what was happening. Kaiden was a year older than me and had turned 18 last year so he should have been the first person to know that we were mates.

“Yes I am” Kaiden had replied, looking everywhere but my face, his countenance told me that he was uncomfortable to have this conversation with me.

“Then why… Safiya…”

“See Freda I love Safiya so much, she means everything to me and I have been together with her for a year now, it would break her heart if I leave her now” He answered.

“But you knew that she wasn’t your mate yet you still ended up getting together with her, what about me? Where am I left?” I asked, tears threatening to roll down my cheeks.

Kaiden moved closer towards me and held my hands in his, I could feel the Sweet delicious tingles coming from that spot he held and traveling towards my spine.

I shivered and leaned towards him, my head placed on his broad chest.

His other hands went to my hair and caressed them gently.

“I’m sorry Freda but I think we have to keep this a secret from your sister, until I’m ready to tell her the truth or until she eventually finds her mate”

That’s right, Safiya is just seventeen years old and she will find her mate when she is eighteen.

I reasoned for a while before nodding my head reluctantly and that I think was the mistake I had made and till today, I was regretting it.

PRESENT

“Ewww, look at them suck the germ off each other’s faces” My friend Lyra said in a gagging tone with a look of disgust on her face, making me giggle.

It was early morning and we were all in the kitchen prepping breakfast and by all, I mean all come of age females that lived in the pack house

The couple she was talking about was obviously Safiya and Kaiden who were hungrily kissing each other in the kitchen.

One more look at them and I felt my stomach twist.

They aren’t having sex yet so it’s cool and besides she will be turning eighteen in 2 months time, so she is almost legal” I said, applying jam thoroughly on the slice of bread I was holding.

“Do you think they might end up as mates, given how they are constantly at each other?” Lyra asked abruptly, her palms cradling her jaw in a contemplative pose.

“We all know your sister Safiya,” Lyra continued, unabashed. “Forgive my bluntness, but she has quite the reputation. She started dating at thirteen and has already been with five boys. Kaiden, however, is the strongest and longest relationship she’s ever had, which signifies something special.” She wriggled her eyebrows suggestively. “The future Luna might just come from your family,” she added, tossing a peanut into her mouth and crunching loudly.

I lowered my head and mused silently, ‘Indeed, a Luna will come from my family, but it won’t be my sister-it will be me.’
