Boy In Blue [ bxb cglre / agere ]
I'm starting to force myself to write and let it come out, so it's actually going pretty well. I want to fully establish Liam's family since it plays a huge role in the dynamics that come later. The fluff is literally in the next chapter. I swear I will make it up to y'all.
Also reached 1.1k reads! Thank you so much everyone! I hope you all enjoy this story as I do. <3

Liam POV
As soon as Liam arrived home, he realized something was off. The hedges were trimmed to near perfection, the flowers and plants that he loved so dearly were all watered, and the swing on the tree was nice and clean. The recent storms had made it filthy, and he hadn't had the brainpower nor patience to actually clean it.
"Mum, why is everything looking so neat?" She only gave him a shy smile as she pursed her lips, stopping in front of the door and putting her hands on his shoulders.
"Screw your eyes shut, Liam." He listened, albeit a little confused, and closed his eyes. The world faded to darkness as he felt his mom drag him into the house, accidentally tripping him on the elevated doorframe of the front door. "Oh my gosh, I am so sorry Liam." She giggled a little and then stepped behind him to close the door. He scowled a little and tried to smack her affectionately, but missed and hit the closed door.
Damnit, that hurt.
"Mom, what are you doing?"
"No no, keep your eyes closed, Liam."
"They are closed, you're just being hella suspicious."
He was met with silence for a few seconds, then he heard a very familiar chuckle. "Same as always, Li." He opened his eyes in surprise and brightened when he saw Mia lounging by the island in their kitchen.
"Mia!" He was about to run towards her for a hug, but his mother swatted his arm.
"I told you to keep your eyes shut." She sighed as Killian snorted, then chuckled. "I guess you can look around now." He took the time to admire everything around him, and his eyes widened as he did so.
Everything in the house was spotless, and in front of him hung a banner with a bunch of painted hearts and messages. He spotted his mother's writing, Amelia's drawings, and even Connor's loving messages, though it was embedded with friendly insults. As he read over the small notes they had left him, someone jumped on him from the side and laughed wholeheartedly, almost knocking him to the hard, wood floor in the process.
"Lili, man! You should have told me you weren't feeling good after the classification." Liam stared at Connor in surprise, then in slight fear as he wiggled out of his hold.
"Well.. I didn't really want you telling the whole school by accident, or making a big deal out of it," Liam muttered. He turned his head away only for Connor to duck under him and grin up at his face.
"Now why the hell would I care what my friend is classified as? If you're happy, I'm happy. My lips are sealed shut, swear on my heart." Liam perked up a little and finally returned his grin, hopping on top of him and rough housing playfully as they laugh and throw insults at each other. The usual, of course. He wouldn't have it any other way.
He could hear his mother sighing and speaking to those around him, but he felt such a pressure removed from his mind that he felt like he was walking on a cloud.
"Okay okay, enough, boys." Killian got in between the two of them and lifted Liam up, then helped Connor up. "We've got some more surprises waiting, so come on." Liam cocked his head to the side for a moment before nodding, letting Connor walk a couple steps before he ran up to him and jumped on his back.
Liam knew that Connor could easily hold him piggy back, so he stayed there until Connor caved in. "You are such an ass, Li."
"An ass that you like." He grinned but then realized the implications that that meant, and he quickly put his hand over Connor's mouth before he could make a comment about it. "Shut up, don't wanna hear it-" Connor mumbled a small 'fine' and Liam removed his hand.
Killian was biting back his laugh, looking at the two of them as if they were a very entertaining circus act. They were, they couldn't deny that, but it was nice to just be able to relax. "So you aren't judging me, and aren't gonna treat me differently, Coco?" Liam was scared of the answer.
"You're really dumb if you think something as stupid as a Classification is gonna get me to walk away from you. We're pals 'till the end, my man." Connor made his way to the couch where he promptly removed Liam from his back. Liam fell with an 'oomph' and glared up at him. "Okay okay- sorry."
"Better be sorry," Liam mumbled.
"Well, not to be the bearer of bad news, Liam, but I do have a cake with your name finely printed on it." Mia chuckled from the kitchen and brought over one of the most beautiful cakes Liam had ever seen. On it were all of his favourite colours, as well as beautiful fondant figures of flowers and plants, all of which he loved. Though it was a bit childish, it brought up a giddy feeling within Liam's stomach which made his eyes twinkle and light up in glee.
"All of this? For m'?" He came over to the table where Mia had set down the cake, looking up at her and giving her a very big embrace. That familiar fuzziness came back, happy to just finally be able to be himself without worrying about what others would say or think about him.
"Thank your mom as well, little one." Liam nodded and headed over to his mom, hugging her close and squishing his cheeks against her.
"Thank yu mum!" He grinned and then looked up at Connor, afraid of his reaction since he felt himself becoming a bit smaller. He was very happy to see that Connor was sitting down at the table and looking at him curiously, but not in a judgemental way. Rather, it was in an endearing way.
"You're real cute, Lili."
"Shuddup." He glared at him but came over nonetheless, grabbing a fork and was about to dig in until Killian gently took the fork from him.
"Before dessert, we eat the dinner. Now, you must be exhausted from all the stress, so let's enjoy this."
Liam perked up and looked around, smiling sheepishly as he settled in his seat. Mia gently lifted the cake and brought it to the kitchen, bringing back many plates of all his favourite foods, with the help of his mom as there were so many plates.
"I practiced to make sure everything was perfect for today." His mother smiled and came over to hug him once more, then kissed the top of his head and rubbed his back in a loving manner.
His eyes widened in excitement as he quickly beckoned everyone to the table, hopping in his seat and grinning from ear to ear, not failing to lose that signature grin he always had.
"Mia helped me a little, and we got all of this ready for you. Now, let's dig in!" Liam made sure to thank his mother and Mia over and over again, almost after every bite, stating how ethereal and amazing this was.
"I could eat this each and every day, mum. It's perfect!"
"Save some for me, asshat." Connor threw him a piece of broccoli and Killian tsked and hit him gently on the back of the head.
"Manners, Connor."
"Yeah yeah, sure." He stared at him as he took a huge bite of his food, not taking his eyes off of him as a challenge. All Killian could do was sigh in defeat and go back to eating his food.
All of a sudden, Amelia perked up and booped Liam who was right next to her. "I need to show you something so very nice. Like- it's really nice. And so cute. Did I say it was nice?" She was smiling hugely as she dug in her pockets to find her phone, opening up Instagram and going to her saved posts, showing him countless pictures of decorated pacifiers, all of which made Liam's eyes widen in surprised, but also excitement.
"Oh my god, those are so cute." He stole her phone and looked through them, checking off the ones he might buy for himself, and grinning even more as he found the perfect one.
The resin planar read "sunshine", and the pacifier was a beautiful soft yellow with an orange button (the middle part). It was beautifully adorned in orange rhinestones that shimmered in the light. "Woah, this one is so cute, what-" he stared at it some more and then showed Killian. "Isn't it so cute?"
Killian load up at him and reached over to ruffle his hair, making sure not to touch any of the food with his shirt. "I'll get it for you, bud. Consider it my gift for being such an awesome lil' man, okay?"
"Wha- no! I just thought it was cute." He puffs up his cheeks and blushes a little, not wanting to admit that he really wanted it.
"Liam, be quiet. You want it, and I'll pay for it too." Connor pointed a fork filled with food at him in an accusatory way. "So shuddup and let yourself be spoiled for once. You deserve it." Liam stared at all of them, tears of joy brimming at his eyes. "No- don't cry." Liam chuckled and kicked him under the table.
"I'm happy, is all. I feel so blessed to have everyone at this table."
Cooing and laughing exploded around the table, making him feel fuzzy, happy, and like walking on a cloud of sunshine and joy.
After everyone had ate, Mia stood up and went to get the cake while Killian and Connor cleaned up the table.
"I can help!" Liam tried to help clear out the table, but Amelia held him down and continued to show him some him deco pacis, not giving him time to clean up. It was, of course, a distraction, as the cake was set in front of him with candles.
"Make a wish, Lili." Connor sat next to him and stared at him expectantly. "I bought the candles, make a worthy wish." Liam chuckled and smiled, then put his hands together and closed his eyes, taking in deep breaths as he thought of his wish.
His wish was.. well I can't really tell you, can I? That would ruin it!
He blew out the candles and clapping followed with Connor choke-holding him and ruffling his hair. "What's your wish?" Amelia asked.
"He can't tell you, stupid."
"Oi- Connor. No name calling. Apologize." Connor stared at Killian, then stuck his tounge out at Amelia.
"I am so flabbergasted right now I might as well hyperventilate," she joked and they all laughed some more.
Liam grabbed his fork and started to dig in like a wild animal, not even bothering to cut the cake for everyone else. It was his cake, after all.
"Oh dear. Well that's not exactly how you eat a cake, is it, Li?" Killian came over and carefully removed the fork from Liam's hands, cutting one big slice that Liam would no doubt devour very quickly. "There ya' go. No need to rush, the cake won't run away." He was met with Liam's horrified face.
"Cakes can run 'ways?" Connor burst out laughing and squished Liam's cheeks.
"Nah Lili, don't worry 'bout Killian. He's being silly." Liam stared very hard at the cake, almost daring it to run away, even if that was in every way, shape or form impossible.
"Okay.. Well it's my cake now." He grinned and took the biggest slice from Killian, taking small bites to test it before digging in like a wild animal hurrying to eat food.
Everyone looked at each other and laughed, smiles being shared around the table as they sat down and ate some cake.
"We're all having cake!" Liam remarked.
"No, you're having cake, Li. I am eating it," Connor remarked, pointing at him in an accusatory way.
"I am enjoying it the way a cat enjoys its scratching post, Coco." They all stared at Liam in confusion while he just continued to dig into his cake, very much enjoying it. "Mum, did you make this?"
She looked at him sheepishly and shook her head. "Me and Mia came up with the design, but we had a baker make it. You know that I can't bake for the life of me, Liam."
He nodded and held up a piece of fondant flower proudly impaled on his fork. "Well it is literal heaven, so thank you both." He saw them fist bump each other.
"EE I want some." Amelia hurried over to the cake, cutting herself a big slice and dumping it on her plate. Killian came up behind her and took the plate gently away from her.
"Where did your manners go, hun? We ask first. This is Liam's cake, not yours." Killian set his hand atop her head and moved it so that she was facing Liam. She pouted at Killian, giving him a side eye.
"Well- okay, sorry. Could I have some cake, Lili?" She looked at him expectantly, making sure that Killian couldn't see her alluring and encouraging expression.
"Oh- well yeah, I don't really care. This is for everyone." He grinned and booped her nose, knowing she appreciated it and took it as a sign of friendship.
She looked at Killian as one last step before digging into her cake portion once he had given her the go ahead, eating with slightly more manners than Liam, but still eating it like a madwoman. Killian looked at her in distaste before chuckling and sitting down next to her. "You're adorable, Amelia." He gently grazed his knuckles over her cheek, then leaned in and gently kissed the top of her head.
"Well yeah, I know." She giggled while eating her cake. He shook his head and went to hold her hand under the table, holding it tight.
Conversation continued, and Liam stopped eating his cake for a moment as he looked over his family, grinning from ear to ear as he continued to realize what an amazing family he was blessed with.
