Chapter 5

Bitter Love [BxB]

Kai's POV

Heading home, I'm filled with dread. What am I supposed to tell my parents? 'Hey guys! I'm suddenly gay for the Alpha!' Yea... that might not work.

I've only ever been interested in women, but when I saw Lukas today, I know he's the only one for me. I guess that makes me gay... or Lukasexual?

I don't know, but I'm embracing the feeling of having my mate. He said we can be civil with each other, so the next step is getting him to go on a date with me. I don't know how I'm going to pull that off.

I'm driving in my black car, I reach home reluctantly. I drove the long way home, trying to put this off.

Walking into the humble, one story house, I try to avoid my mom by going straight to my room. I'm almost to my room when I hear my mom yell, "Honey! Why are you in such a rush?"

I sigh and head back down the stairs, knowing that I have to talk to her now. My dad is at work, so I don't have to mention anything to him.

"How was school?" My mom asks politely, happy that I'm downstairs and spending time with her.

"It was fine... everything was normal," I inform quickly, too quickly.

My moms blonde hair moves with her head as she turns to face me, suspicion clear on her face.

"Did you just lie to me?" She asks with a light of fire in her eyes.

"No?" I ask, trying to seem innocent. She doesn't buy it and proceeds to say one word, "Spill."

And spill is exactly what I do.

"Mom... I met my mate," I say apprehensively, not really wanting to tell her. At least I know she will take it better than my father will.

"Well that's great, honey! Why are you so nervous?" She asks with a smile on her face.

I wince, preparing myself to tell her. "It's Alpha Lukas Reed..." I trail off, waiting for her reaction.

She just stands there, looking at me with shock written on her face. She sits down beside me at the counter, and grabs my hand in hers. "I know you have no choice in who is your mate, we must trust what the Moon Goddess decides for us."

I nod, but the I realize what she said. She's okay with it? "You're not mad?" I ask quietly.

"No, I'm not. I know everything happens for a reason, so I can't argue." I pull her into a tight hug, silently thanking her for accepting me.

As I pull away, she has a frown atop her face. "I don't know how your father will react."
