Chapter 2

Bitter Love [BxB]

Kai's POV

I spent my birthday with my parents. I moved back to the Mystic Shadow Pack a week before I turned eighteen. It's still summer so I've been enjoying just lounging around.

I miss Isaac and his family, living with them for two and a half years was an amazing experience and I wouldn't change it for the world.

There was a small birthday party held with close friends and family, nothing much.

Summer is coming to a close, so school is starting up again. I have everything I need to be prepared for the upcoming year, I'm ready for anything.

***

Actually I was not ready for anything.

I have my backpack and everything else that I need, but there was one thing I wasn't prepared for.

I'm off, walking to my first period class, when I stop in my tracks.

I smell a strong woodsy scent mixed with honey. The most amazing smell to ever grace my presence.

I follow it, but quickly stop when the smell leads to the one and only, Lukas. I look over him, admiring his curly hair and hazel eyes. His face is perfect, a straight nose and plump lips. Looking down, I notice his all black attire. He looks so sexy.

He has his head in the air, smelling it. He must have caught my scent.

I can't believe my mate is Lukas. And a guy!

I have no problem with being gay, but my parents do. They have been teaching me to be homophobic my whole life. I never saw the problem with being gay, but now I'm shocked.

My mate was a guy, and the one that I hate.

Lukas looks towards me, across the hallway. Our eyes connect and my world freezes. I gaze into his beautiful hazel eyes and I feel completely at peace. I feel safe.

I have no idea what he is thinking, but he turns away and stomps off, his dark brown curly hair bouncing as he does so.

My mate just walked away from me.

I turn and leave school, needing to go for a run. I can't believe my mate practically rejected me. I've dreamt of how this moment would go, but I never imagined it would end up like this.

The pain in my chest is increasing, an aching feeling, making me feel empty. Like my heart was split in two.

Setting my bag near the tree line, I strip behind a large tree and shift. My bones crack and break, reforming themselves into my wolf form. I'm a tan wolf with white streaks in my fur. I'm nothing special, I'm fairly average.

Running through the trees fills me with bliss. True happiness comes from when I run, I rarely experience it elsewhere. I stop instantly when I catch the one scent I was trying to avoid.

Lukas.
