Chapter 18

Kai's POV

Because of not being allowed to go to school anymore, I started online school. I had to get my transcripts from my previous school, but otherwise, it was fairly easy.

I'm working on my schoolwork when Lukas comes home with a weird look on his face. I ask, concerned, "What's wrong? Are you okay?"

He nods, not seeming like he is here. He seems lost in thought. He surprises me when he speaks, "I've been thinking about this for a while... What if I send you away for a little so you'll be safe?"

"Without you?" I ask with a sad expression.

He tilts head back and sighs, looking troubled. "I can't leave the pack, no matter how much I wish I could go with you."

Making my decision to fight this, I start my rant, "I don't want to leave, with or without you. We'd just be running from the threat when we need to stand up and fight. I'm not leaving and that's final."

Lukas looks at me surprised, me having never fought back against his decisions.

Lukas shocks me with the one word he says, "Okay."

"Okay?" I question, confused that he agreed so easily.

"Okay. I want to keep you safe, but I don't want to run. I didn't realize how stupid the idea was until now. Thank you for bringing it to my attention," he says with a slight smile. "I'm proud of you for standing up for yourself. I wouldn't want a mate who just listens to everything I say without an opinion."

I smile at him, happy that I made him happy. I stand up from the bed where I'm doing my work, and I stand in front of him. I hug him, wanting to let him know that I appreciate him.

"Thank you. I love you, even when you have stupid ideas." I pause, realizing what I said. I love him.

"You love me?" He asks, me hearing the smirk in his voice.

I groan, annoyed he is making me say it again. "Yes, I love you. Are you happy?"

"I'm ecstatic. I love you too."
