Chapter 79 - Thieves
My Identities Were All Exposed After I Was Pampered by Everyone at My Grandfather's House!
To Lu Ying, that was truly a dark period of time.
He and Qiao Yue were the last disciples of the old doctor. Qiao Yue joined later and he was the old doctorâs adopted son who grew up by his side. Logically speaking, he should have learned better and finished his apprenticeship earlier. However, he was afraid of misdiagnosing patients or sticking the needle in the wrong place among other things that he didnât dare to see patients alone. Instead, he let Qiao Yue, who joined the sect at the age of 14, treat patients before him.
He wouldnât mind if Qiao Yue was simply more talented and had better attitude than him. After all, there were many geniuses in the world, and he happened to meet one. However, heâs not pleased that Qiao Yue didnât use her own name to practice medicine. Instead, she used his name and left much of the follow-up work on the almost cured patients to him.
Qiao Yue became more outrageous after he cleaned up after her a few times. Whenever she encountered a difficult case, she would leave his name and contact information with the patient, while she happily disappeared.
As time went by, he gradually got used to treating patients. He honed his medical skills, and was no longer afraid of treating patients.
Reminiscing, Lu Ying let out a long sigh and picked up his phone to type, âWhat time are you arriving? Iâll pick you up.â
Qiao Yueâs reply came very quickly. In less than two minutes, Qiao Yueâs message appeared. âNo, no, no. Iâll be travelling with the Qiaoâs. Why would you come to pick me up? Letâs catch up when Iâm there.â
Lu Ying knew that Qiao Yue was busy again and did not reply to her message. In fact, sometimes he wondered how long it would take for him to be able to practice medicine if Qiao Yue didnât do those things. In a few months? A few years? Or more than a decade? People tend to live in their comfort zones if no one pushed them.
â¦
Qiao Yue felt that time passed very slowly in the last two days, probably because she was thinking about something. The atmosphere in the Qiao residence was extremely tense because Qiao Jing said that he was going to take Qiao Yue to see the old master.
What did it mean when Qiao Yue met Old Master Qiao? It meant that if he received Old Master Qiaoâs approval, he would officially become part of the Qiao family and have a right to the Qiao inheritance. Like the rest of the Qiao family, he would be able to get a share of the old masterâs inheritance after his death. How could this not make some people jealous?
On the night before the holiday, Qiao Xin bumped into Qiao Yue on campus.
Qiao Xin said aggressively Qiao Yue, âQiao Yue, are you really going with second brother tomorrow?â
âObviously!â Qiao Yue replied nonchalantly, leaning against a tree.
âI wonât allow you to go! Your mother was kicked out of the family by Grandpa. What right do you have to come back? You think that you are like the rest of us?â Qiao Xinâs eyes were red as she tried to keep her voice down.
Qiao Yue raised her eyes and looked at Qiao Xin. âMy legs are mine. Where I go is none of your business!â
âQiao Yue! Do you have any sense of shame? Even a beggar has more dignity than you! Your mother was a thief, and so are you! Youâre here to steal from my family!â
Qiao Xin saw that her mother had been worried in the past two days about Qiao Yue meeting her grandfather. She was also upset, but there was nothing she could do. She could only find Qiao Yue to make him back off.
âQiao Xin, was the previous lesson not enough? Do you need me to remind you?â
Qiao Yue looked at Qiao Xin coldly. Qiao Xin was really skilled at courting death. She knew that her mother was her Achillesâ heel and yet she brought her up every time.
Qiao Yue didnât take any action because Qiao Xin was underage. If Qiao Xin really pissed her off, she didnât know if Qiao Xin would be able to see the sun tomorrow.
Qiao Xin trembled from Qiao Yueâs stare, but her domineering nature from a young age made her unable to lower herself. She pouted and said, âYour mother was a thief, and you donât admit it! What right do you have to stay in the Qiao family? You are the sinner of the Qiao family!â
Qiao Yueâs eyes were filled with anger. Very well, she really wasnât afraid of death.
Suddenly, Qiao Yue stood in front of Qiao Xin and grabbed her neck.
âYou said my mother was a thief. What did she steal from you? Tell me!â The murderous intent in Qiao Yueâs eyes was obvious; she didnât hide it at all.
Qiao Xinâs neck was being held by Qiao Yue. Although she was being strangled, she could still speak. Qiao Yue had always been precise in her strength control. She was no fool. She couldnât do something like strangling someone to make them talk.
