Chapter Twenty One
Forever Ours
Andrew's POV
You've had your fun, now it's my turn to get what I want and on my terms. PS: I love babies.
It took us -the police, uncle Caleb and I- two seconds to understand that message. The only question was who was it from.
We didn't want to make so much noise so we wouldn't get Victoria scared. I couldn't even tell Miles for the fear that he would tell her.
We've been working with the police to find out who this person is but we've come up short so far. The message was sent from an untraceable number so the police has been investigating our lives.
Since the message was sent to uncle Caleb and I, this person must have some sort of connection with us.
Uncle Caleb did get security around her all the time, with her oblivious to them.
When the message first came in, I didn't know what to think of it until uncle Caleb called me. With the way he was speaking, I knew that I wasn't the only one who got the threat.
What made my worry grow was the fact that I couldn't get too close to her unlike before. She had already told me to keep my distance and only be there when necessary and even though that doesn't stop me, the last thing I need is for her to throw a fit and completely push me away.
So I kept my distance, only watching from afar and making sure she's safe.
I couldn't sleep or eat, my eyes always on her.
We didn't know what this person wanted asides from the obvious fact of hurting Victoria. Was it money?
Who had Mr. Black or even me offended to give such a threat?
Was this just someone trying to play a sick game with us?
How much longer before this person strikes?
I was growing sick with all these questions popping in my head. I just wanted both Victoria and the baby to be alright.
My phone beeped of a new message that made my heart skip more than just a beat.
Eyes on the prize pretty boy
Without hesitation I got into my car and on the way to Victoria's house, I called the officer and explained the message I just got.
They were on their way.
I drove as fast as I could, all the while my heart was beating loudly in my chest.
I was petrified.
What if whoever's it was got to her first?
I quickly dialed Miles but he wasn't picking. I decided to call Victoria too but she also wasn't picking.
Where is everyone?
I pounded my fists on the front door, not stopping till the door was open and a wide eyed Miles was staring at me.
âWhat the hell?â He involuntarily moved out of the way when I stepped in.
âWhere is Victoria?â I turned to him.
âOut, what is wrong with you?â
âOut where?â I didnât have the time for his questions. Victoriaâs life is mostly likely hanging on a thread now.
âThe store, she should be back soon.â He looked at his wristwatch. âWhat is going on Andrew?â
âWhich store?!â I rose my voice now hoping he would get the memo and just stop asking questions. I was the one to ask questions here.
âI donât know, she was out before I got in.â He shrugged. âNow can you please answer my questions? Youâre scaring me.â
âI donât have the time to explain.â I ran out of the house and Miles followed me.
âDial her number and letâs pray she answers you.â I backed out of the driveway and headed towards the one store I know she usually goes to.
All the way there I just kept praying that she would be alright, that I wonât be too late. She still wasnât answering the calls and that only made my worry increase.
Her car was in the parking lot but she wasnât in it. I ran into the store and everyone who set their eyes on me, gave me a confused look but I didnât care. I need to find Victoria.
I ran up to a sales personnel. âPlease Iâm looking for someone. Sheâs pregnant, black, lose curls.â I turned to Miles. âWhat was she wearing?â
âBlue jeans and a black T-shirt.â He responded.
We both looked at the personnel. âShe just walked out I believe.â
âHow long ago?â
âAbout two minutes ago I think.â
âThank you.â I ran to the check-out counter and asked the same question I asked the sales personnel and the lady told me the same thing.
I ran out of the store and went straight to her car. I saw a piece of paper stuck between the wiper and the windshield.
Oops, too late.
âNo,â I shook my head in disbelief. This canât be happening. âNo.â
Miles took the paper from me and it looked like he was slowly piecing everything together. âAndrew, it better not be what I think it is.â
I took out my phone and called the detective again and told him what had happened. He told me to wait there for him.
I told Miles everything and he wouldnât stop pacing the parking lot. People wouldnât stop staring at us but frankly I didnât care.
When the detective together with other police officers finally arrived. They asked a bunch of questions which I answered.
Apparently for about a minute or so, the electricity of the store went off, somehow locking everyone inside the store. What shocked me was how the CCTV cameras also went off for a split second despite the fact that they are not powered with the store's electricity.
So it felt like we were back to square one, but a more dangerous situation with where Victoria's life is hanging on the line.
All I could think about was her safety and I was praying she would be safe.
If it was money they wanted, weâd give them that. I just wanted both her and the baby safe and I swear if anything happens to her, I would kill whoever is behind all this.
âYou should go home and rest.â Detective Tony placed a hand on my shouder.
âHow do you expect me to rest when I know sheâs out there and not safe? We have to get her back.â I pushed his hand off my shoulder.
âAnd we will. But you also need to rest, please go home, weâll give you updates.â He nodded towards my car.
I looked at Miles and he nodded obviously agreeing with detective Tony. I didnât say anything else as Miles and I got into my car and I drove off.
The ride was silent till I was parked in front of his house.
âI know we donât agree but since this involves the one woman weâre in love with so letâs just put everything aside, for Victoria.â He spoke first.
âFor Victoria,â I agreed with him. âIâll give you updates.â
He gave me one last nod before walking out of the car. I was going to ignore the fact that he just told me that heâs in love with Victoria. Well I wasnât expecting less.
I drove home and no matter how much I tried to sleep. I was most definitely not getting any.
