Serendipity

SerendipityEpisode-51‘You’ve never done this before… don’t start now, Rajiv thought. But I just want to see Miss Joshi’s reaction.Peering through the small crack in the blinds, he noticed Megha sitting on the sofa. I told you to wait, Miss Joshi… He was surprised to see no irritation on her face. You even managed to smile sweetly when you spoke to Geeta. Are you sitting there rereading the contract? He noticed the tension etched on her face. Why are you just sitting there? Are you leaving without meeting me? Please wait! She stepped back toward the window, taking in the lovely view of Marine Drive. After thirty seconds of gazing, she returned to her chair. Are you going to read Business Today now? he mused, chuckling to himself. Hey, Miss Joshi, stop flipping through the articles. Why are you staring at the pictures? The magazine doesn’t have photos other than advertisements—it’s all business content, you know.Rajiv chuckled again, entertained by her behavior. Oh, you read it already? What’s this? His gaze drifted toward Geeta's desk, where a beautiful landscape painting caught his attention. What could be so captivating about that? It’s just a standard sunrise painting. What are you doing with your hands? he wondered. Are you really filling in the colors? He watched as she turned her focus to the potted plant in the corner. Don’t touch that—just leave it alone, he thought. You’re absentmindedly running your fingers over the leaves. Do you like indoor plants? What’s this? Now you’re bending down? Hey, don’t break those little leaves! Rajiv’s amusement continued. Oh, those are dry leaves… fine, fine. Are you planning to take a stroll through the Supreme lobby now? Have you decided to make this your morning workout? As Megha returned to Geeta's desk, he thought, No, please! Miss Joshi, can you sit still for just one minute? How much restlessness is this? He had anticipated that he would wait for at least 15 minutes, but her anxiety was starting to irritate him.Rajiv closed the blinds and settled back in his chair, pressing the intercom button. “Yes, Rajiv sir?” Geeta’s voice was slightly unsteady.“Please send Miss Joshi in,” he instructed, keeping his tone serious.“Okay, sir.” Geeta called for Megha to enter.Megha thanked her profusely and picked up the contract from the table. Approaching Rajiv's door, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath. All the best, Megha! Stay calm… stay quiet, she told herself. With determination, she pushed the door open and stepped into Rajiv Mehra's impressive cabin.Rajiv was seated in a tall leather chair behind a magnificent teak desk, engrossed in his laptop as if a king. Doesn’t he see me entering? Why is he pretending not to notice?“Calm down, Megha. Just stay calm,” she reminded herself once more. “Good morning, Mr. Mehra!” she greeted brightly, her gaze fixed on his desk before quickly looking up, not yet ready to meet his eyes.Rajiv glanced up from his screen, maintaining a serious expression. “Good morning, Miss Joshi! It’s nice to see you again.”Megha nodded but quickly averted her gaze back to the desk, her thoughts racing.“Miss Joshi, there’s no meeting or presentation today. So, what brings you here?”He noticed her distracted demeanor, her eyes flitting between his desk and the floor. A smile crept across his face.“Well… I mean… I wanted to discuss something important,” Megha stammered, anxiety creeping into her voice.“Ohhhh! Just like I wanted to discuss something important that day… but you wouldn’t let me get a word in,” Rajiv replied, leaning back in his chair.“Do you really think I’ll just listen to you again, Miss Joshi?” he teased, folding his hands and studying her intently.Megha’s head was bowed, and her eyes squeezed shut in embarrassment. To be continued....© ®️ Meghna_Yadav 2021Special Thanks to friend Gayatri and my loving daughter, my buddy.Hello Readers,Illuminate the five stars of ratings with your gentle touch.
