I already have the ideal candidates in mind—the best performers for Supreme.Project location: Supreme House. Makes sense for a confidential project; better to work at their site.Travel requirements: occasional visits to Technosys in Bangalore. She paused a moment at the mention of Bangalore but shook it off.Submission deadline for the initial takeover terms and bidding: by the end of April. Doable, even if we have to work some weekends… Anything for Supreme.Finally, she reached the fee structure: SWC’s fee, calculated at 1% to 2% of Supreme’s ₹1500-crore investment. The highest fee I’ve ever handled—but even more valuable is the reputation it brings.“Perfect, absolutely right,” Megha said, closing the contract.“Are you sure, Megha?” Purab asked, his face still uncertain.“Sure? The terms look fine… is there a problem?” She looked at Gupta sir, who also seemed uneasy.“Megha, are you prepared to lead the project?” Purab asked gently.“Me? Lead? But it’s your project… you’re the one who should lead it,” she replied, her voice trembling slightly.“Megha, your name is in the contract as the project leader. Check clause 8,” Purab said, his tone reassuring.“What?” Megha flipped to clause 8 and read in shock:“Supreme Group appoints SWC & CO. as the M&A Partner for the Technosys takeover, under the leadership of Ms. Megha Joshi.”The words blurred for a moment. Her heart pounded, and it felt as though the ground beneath her had shifted. Megha Joshi - Project Leader.“Sir! But… how did Supreme make this decision without consulting us?” She took a shaky breath.“I had already mentioned that I wouldn’t be able to…”“Megha, when you presented last week, Prakash was impressed with your work. He may have assumed you’d be leading the project,” Gupta sir explained.“But sir, I politely declined. There must have been a miscommunication,” she replied, her eyes filling with tears.“Maybe if I speak with Mr. Mehra at Supreme, we can sort this out.”“Rajiv? What’s he got to do with this?” Purab asked, confused.“I just think I should discuss this with him in person,” Megha replied, standing up and placing the contract in her folder.“Megha, wait, I’ll come with you,” Purab offered, standing.“No, Purab. This is my responsibility, and I’ll handle it.
