Serendipity

SerendipityEpisode-34“Well, I actually called to ask... have you heard anything back from Singhania School?” Priya asked with a hopeful tone.“No, still waiting, like a ticking clock,” Megha sighed. “This year, at least, Arya has to get in. I’ve been trying for three years.”“She did so well in the entrance exam this time,” Megha reassured her. “And she aced the physical test for the football team.”“Now it’s just the final interview call and the email,”Megha added. “It should come any day now, or else this year’s effort will go to waste. Her current school’s fine, but Singhania has more opportunities, especially for sports. The academics are a level up, too.”“Oh, I know all about the perks of Singhania. Both my monkeys are there,” Priya teased.“Shut up! Not everyone has monkeys; some have golden children,” Megha laughed.“Oh, if you’re so fond of them, take them for a few days so we can go on a second honeymoon!” Priya chuckled.Priya burst out laughing, and Megha’s eyes widened, realizing how her comment had come out.Megha teased, “Oh, don’t pretend you’re innocent. Just imagine when the two of you run off, leaving Aarav and Arnav at home.”“Oh, leaving them home? They’d probably end up quarreling with their grandparents,” Priya replied, still laughing.“Yes, I know your reasons. Anyway, let’s stay focused on the school,” Megha said. “Let’s hope we get good news this year.”“Yes, don’t worry—Bappa will take care of everything.” Priya, a true devotee of Ganesha, couldn’t help but laugh, picturing herself as a little child calling out to Ganesha as ‘father.’“Yes, it’s all in God’s hands now…” Megha said, closing her eyes and silently praying. For the school… the Supreme project… for Purab… she thought, almost to herself. For everyone’s happiness.“He knows our joy and our sadness,” Priya said, echoing Megha’s sentiments with her own humor.“This time, God will hear us! We have a direct setting with Ashtavinayak! Trust me, it’s as good as done. Just make those modaks for me afterward!”“Deal,” Megha replied, laughing. “I’ll make them for you as soon as Arya’s admission is finalized.”“And what happened with that Mihir Vyas?” Priya’s voice suddenly turned mischievous.Megha was caught off guard. “Where did that come from? Nothing happened—I deleted him forever.”“Oh, come on,” Priya chuckled. “He’s so handsome! And smart, too—a doctor. You could at least meet him once.”“How do you know he’s handsome?” Megha asked, rolling her eyes. “I only spoke to you over text; never even send a picture!”“Oh, aunty sent me his picture,” Priya teased.“Oh, that’s good! So if you only called me about him, you can hang up now,” Megha huffed. “I’m fine just the way I am, thank you.”“Hey, don’t get mad,” Priya said gently. “I didn’t call for that. I know how you feel. I was just asking casually… What’s the harm in thinking about it?”“Are you part of my mom’s matchmaking team too?” Megha sighed. “I’m exhausted explaining myself to her—now you, too?”“Megha…” Priya’s voice softened. “Aunty is just worried. She just wants you to be happy. How long will you stay alone, wrapped up in Sameer’s memories?”“Priya, please…” Megha’s voice thickened with emotion, tears filling her eyes.“Megha, why ‘please’? You’ve made up your mind not to give yourself a second chance, but why not?”“A second chance for what, Priya?” Megha whispered.“To look at resumes and meet someone from halfway across the world, like Mihir Vyas sitting in Los Angeles?Even if he thinks of a second chance, he won’t leave his life there to come here to Mumbai. Why would I compromise everything again? I’m fine alone, just as I am.”“What if you found a soulmate?” Priya pressed. “Would you give yourself a chance then?”“Priya, my soulmate was and always will be Sameer,” Megha said with finality.“He’s gone now, and no one can replace him. There’s no second chance, so please, let’s drop it.”“There will be a second chance,” Priya replied, her voice soft but firm.“Your soulmate will come into your life again, and I’ll be there to witness that best moment.”“Hmmm… maybe…” Megha murmured, her voice tired.“Alright, I’m heading to bed. Today’s been a long day, and I’m exhausted. Good night.”“Good night, my friend,” Priya replied gently. To be continued....© ®️ Meghna_Yadav 2021Special Thanks to friend Gayatri and my loving daughter, my buddy.Hello Readers,Illuminate the five stars of ratings with your gentle touch.
