Chapter 11 (REWRITE)
The Vampire's Pet (Published) Book 1 and 2
First off I want to say thank you guys for 1k views, enjoy.
Henry was still sitting against the nightstand. His head was leaning against the wood, his eyes closed; however he wasn't resting. He was too anxious to rest.
Rose stirred a little before opening her eyes and looking around. She looked down and saw Henry. Henry opened his eyes and looked up.
"Hey." His voice low, sounding tired.
"H-hi," she responded in the same tone. She stretched and froze mid-stretch.
"What's wrong?"
"I can m-move already," she said while moving her arms to the side excitedly.
To that, the only response Henry had was a huge smile. Slowly, he stood and looked down at her.
"Hungry?" Henry asked. He couldn't imagine how she felt. She had just started to actually eat since moving in with him and now hadn't eaten in days.
Rose hesitated for a few seconds before she remembered that her opinion mattered, at least she hoped it still did. Finally, she nodded.
"Do you want to eat in bed or in the kitchen?"
"Kitchen . . . please."
"Is it ok if I pick you up or do you want me to help you walk?"
"Help me." She needed so badly to stretch.
Nodding, he moved the covers off of her. Carefully, she swung her legs over the side. Her feet touched the floor as she weakly stood up. Her legs wobbled and Henry took that as his cue to wrap his arm around her.
Henry waited for her body to un-tense before he gently moved one of her arms across his shoulders for support. As she leaned against him, they started to walk slowly toward the kitchen, taking small steps.
They reached the stairs and Henry could tell that she was too weak to go down them, even with his support.
"Is it ok if I pick you up to go down the stairs?"
She nodded her head. He wrapped his other arm under her legs, he picked her up. She tightly clung to his shirt and buried her face into his chest from exhaustion. Henry almost held her closer to him as if to apologize again for causing her to be in this state.
He carried her down until they reached the kitchen. He sat her down on the stool at the island. She unclasped her hands from his shirt. On instinct, she nearly climbed out of the stool and onto the ground but stopped when she realized Henry had put her there.
Henry began to look through the fridge and grab food for both him and Rose. Of course, there was the soup and then some eggs and the leftover pancakes.
Once their plates were made, Henry sat hers down in front of her and he placed his on the side across from her. Before even touching his food, he watched Rose to make sure she could hold the spoon and fork correctly. Once he was sure she wouldn't accidentally stab herself, he didn't begin to eat. Instead, he grabbed napkins and knelt down.
The sound of shuffling glass told Rose that he was cleaning up the glass she had dropped.
"I . . . I can clean that up."
"No," Henry responded from his spot on the ground. "I can get it," though he tried to sound nice, Rose heard a small shake in his voice that she couldn't pinpoint.
Standing up again, Henry quickly disposed of all the glass. His back was now facing her and she watched as his body deflated.
"I didn't realize," Henry murmured. Rose's eyebrows furrowed together. She laid the fork down and stared at him. "I . . . I thought I had enough blood." He turned around, a faint glint in his eyes. "I promise you that I thought. . . ." He shook his head. "That will never happen again."
"I-it's ok." She had never seen a vampire react this way to her pain.
"No it's not," his voice was still shaking. "I'm so sorry."
"Henry?" His eyes immediately snapped to hers. This was the first time she had ever used his name. After Rose's own initial shock of calling him by his name wore off, she continued, "I forgive you."
Henry shook his head as he looked at her. She had paler skin than before. It made the blue bruise stand out on her cheek, while somehow causing the old ones to gain new color. Her busted lip was faintly swollen and the cut was visible. The bones in her face somehow had become more angular.
He shook his head again.
"No one has . . ." she thought for the words, "cared for me after. If you were like the others then you would have left me on the kitchen floor before making me clean up the glass. Also no one . . . they've never apologized for it or tried to heal me. I don't think you tried to hurt me."
A small smile graced Henry's face. "Thank you." He cleared his throat. "The food is getting cold." He finally began to eat his breakfast as Rose picked at the rest of hers.
Once they were done, Henry took the plates and put them in the dishwasher.
"What do you want to do?" he asked.
"The um. . . . talking black screen? If that's ok with you," she quickly added.
"Yeah, I'm fine with watching TV. Do you want me to carry or help you to the couch?"
Rose looked down and wiggled her toes. Pins and needles shot through her feet. "C-carry me?"
Henry walked to her and gently lifted her from the stool. Though she naturally tensed, it wasn't remotely close to what it had been. Carefully sitting down on the couch, he moved her off him.
"What do you want to watch?" he asked
She shrugged. She didn't even know there were options to choose from.
Henry decided to continue with what he was already watching.
Rose didn't think they had been watching the show for long, but she was exhausted. Without meaning to, she slowly closed her eyes and dozed off.
Henry's eyes slowly closed. He couldn't deny the fact that he was both mentally and physically exhausted. Without meaning to, his body fell and his hand fell to the side, his fingers brushing against her head.
***
Rose was lying on the ground with multiple new bruises and cuts. They covered her body, like the old ones, almost as if they had never healed. Blood was scattered across her body from cuts. Her hair was grabbed and before she could even cry out, her body slammed into the wall.
Henry bent down on one knee, his eyes a crimson color, and his fangs stained with blood as well as his mouth. Rose had three new sets of bite marks on her neck.
"I-I'm sorry, Master. I am a-a stupid pathetic Pet," she whimpered out. "I sh-should have never thought a Pet c-could like a vampire. It w-was out of place!"
He grabbed her chin, making her look at him. She looked into his red, violent eyes that were no longer the soft, kind red that she loved.
"That's why I won't mourn your death." In a blink of an eye, he grabbed her and sunk his teeth into her neck. She screamed. Unlike last time, it didn't turn to a suctioned feeling but remained an agonizing pain.
She stopped moving as the pain became too much for her to bear. She slumped over into him as he continued to drink her blood.
***
Henry and Rose suddenly sat up at the same time.
He quickly rubbed his face with his hand, realizing he had accidentally entered her dream.
She focused on her breathing, trying to convince herself that it was only a dream. Wasn't it?
"I um," he cleared his throat, "I think that's enough TV."
Rose swallowed and nodded.
Henry picked her up and this time, she tensed longer than he had hoped.
It's just a dream. It's just a dream, she repeated in her head.
He placed her in the bed again. "I need to go check something in my room. I'll be back." Without waiting for an answer, he walked out of the room.
Thank you as always as reading. Hope you liked it.
