The Hybrid ( BOOK I & II)

!!BEST COMMENT GETS A DEDICATION!!

He's the thorn in my flesh

That I can't take out

He's stealing my breath

When you're around

And now you're trying to convince me

He wasn't worthy

But you can't complete me

He's the part that is missing

I miss him, I'm missing him

"Damn, your hot." Sebastian's older brother Tucker smirked, ogling Ava with half lidded eyes.

Ava was disgusted, but remembered to remain polite. This was Sebastian's family. "Uh, thanks."

"I can't believe you're dating Sebastian." Tucker continued, leaning towards Ava more than necessary. "If you're into the whole family thing, we could give it a go."

"No thank you." Ava replied, with a tight lipped smile. "I'm going to go find Sebastian."

Ava had already began to leave the room, when Tucker yelled. "I know you'll be back and I'll be waiting."

His words made Ava just jog up the stairs faster, and into the arms of Sebastian as he stood at the top of the stairs.

"What's wrong, babe?" Sebastian asked, brown eyes searching Ava's pale face.

"Nothing, I just wanted to rest for a while. Can we go into your room?" Ava asked, giving Sebastian the convincing pout.

"Sure." He kissed her forehead, before walking her into his old bedroom.

Ava and Sebastian laid on his bed, bodies pressed together, a calming silence between them.

"I love you, Ava." Sebastian suddenly said, fingers intertwined with hers.

Ava couldn't look at him, couldn't find anything to say. What was she supposed to say? Sebastian was the sweetest and Ava liked him a lot. In fact she loved him, but she wasn't in love with him and if she told him that now, it'd be too much. Sebastian's grandfather just passed, and him and Sebastian were close. He had to be hurting, and Ava didn't want to make him hurt more.

But she couldn't force the words out of her mouth.

"Do you love me too?" Sebastian asked, his voice shaking with uncertainty.

Ava closed her eyes, and removed her hand from Sebastian's and used it to grasp the snowflake pendant of her necklace . "Sebastian, please don't do this now."

"Don't do what?! Ava we've been together for almost a year. We are mates and you can't tell me you love me?!" Sebastian asked, jumping off the bed as he stood above Ava, a scowl on his face.

Ava stood up as well. She didn't like the thought of Sebastian staring her down as if she was the scum of the earth. She tried to contain her own anger, yet Sebastian wasn't making it easy.

"I mean seriously, I've been nothing but a good boyfriend. You cheated on me with Maddox, - I forgave you. You wanted to wear the stupid necklace he bought you, - I didn't say anything. Your family doesn't like me, but I stayed for you. And now I tell you I love you and you can't even give me a reply?!"

"I can't ... I can't give you a reply, because I ... I t-think Maddox is my mate." Ava finally said, meeting Sebastian's angry eyes. She didn't think Maddox was her mate, she knew he was. She had seen it, felt it and ignored it.

"Ava, ... just go home." Sebastian was serious and he had finally had enough of Ava's bullshit.

Ava was stunned, but she could understand Sebastian's hatred for her right now. She had done those things he listed. He had been the perfect boyfriend and she had just been another deceiving girlfriend.

"Are you breaking up with me?" Ava asked.

If he said "yes" in that moment it would have been so easy for Ava to go back home and run into Maddox's arms.

"You are the one confused about our relationship. Go home. Next week when school starts back up, we'll see where we are in this relationship." Sebastian said, pulling out his wallet to hand Ava money to get back home with the train.

"I'm sorry." Ava, whispered standing in the doorway of Sebastian's bedroom.

"I know you're sorry Ava, but there is only so many times you can forgive someone. Just please go home and think about what you want from this relationship."

***

It was two hours before midnight when Ava finally reached her dad's territory. She would have been back hours ago, but the stress with Sebastian really gave her something to think about. She took a detour and had found her self on the beach, just thinking about everything and nothing. But some questions were ones that couldn't be answered by her, but only Maddox.

For example, why hadn't he told her they were mates?

Did he realize that his decision had an affect on not only him, but Ava and Sebastian?

Did he regret the fact that Ava now knew?

The questions were flying through her head and Ava knew the once place she would find Maddox on his birthday. Walking through the dark part of the woods, Ava came to their childhood treehouse. The lights that they had once hung up in and around the house were glowing, and shadowing across the surrounding trees. Gaining just enough confidence, Ava climbed up the wooden ladder with ease.

Like she had predicted Maddox sat on the carpeted floor of the treehouse, eyes closed as he leaned against the back wall.

Ava moved over to Maddox, their sides pressed together as she took the spot next to him.

"Happy birthday." Ava whispered, a small smile on her face when she remembered his last birthday they had spent up there.

Maddox didn't say anything, almost like back then when Ava did most of the talking and Maddox replied with small gestures.

As they sat in silence, neither knew what to say but weirdly no words were needed for them to find to each other.

Fingertips brushing against another, before their hands intertwined and landed on Maddox's thigh. It was a feeling Ava had missed and craved whenever she was around Maddox. Just knowing he was there and that he wasn't leaving again, made Ava's heart lurch.

"I never wanted you to feel like I was playing with your heart. And I'm sorry I didn't say anything earlier." Maddox said, turning his head to see Ava's reaction to his confession.

Ava wasn't sure what to say, so instead she found herself placing her other hand on Maddox's chest, above his heart as it pounded with strength.

One look shared between them after so many years, and their lips joined in a soft kiss. Maddox pulled Ava closer by the waist, one hand on her lower back and the other at the nape of her neck. She straddled his lap as they kissed for what felt like the first time.

Their chests were pressed together, a heat burning through their veins as they were once again reunited. Ava's hand roamed over Maddox's hard chest, before he gently guided her down into a laying position beneath him.

Settled between Ava's thighs, Maddox held himself above her as the kissed slowly and gently, although the kiss held unknown urgency. Kissing down her slender neck, Maddox lifted her shirt above her head, pulling it off completely.

Ava helped Maddox pull off his own shirt, before pulling him back down, their lips locking into a passionate kiss.

In the midst of kissing, Ava pushed Maddox off and hurriedly tried putting back on her shirt. "W-we can't Maddox. ...Not before I break it off with S-sebastian. I can't hurt him more than I already have."

Surprisingly Maddox understood, as he pulled back on his own shirt and just as Ava turned to leave, he pulled her back gently and kissed her once more.

Ava smiled up at him, earning the glow of his own eyes. "I love you, Ava. I've always loved you."

It hurt Maddox to watch her go, but he understood that she needed to end things with Sebastian before they did anything serious.

Settling back against the wall Maddox, ran a hand through his hair that had grown over the weeks. He couldn't help the smile that was painted on his lips. He had Ava and now for sure everything was going to be ok.

But the second he heard a loud cry in the distance, his heart lurched in his chest. Jumping down the tree house, Maddox followed Ava's scent. When the smell of her blood overpowered Maddox's scenes, he ran even faster. Spotting her beautiful blonde curls, Maddox kneeled at Ava's side, as the girl laid on her stomach, four hunting arrows lodged deep into her back.

Who was expecting that?

Your thoughts on the chapter ...

WEIRD FACT: I would never ever call my bf/fiancé/husband daddy, papi or anything like that. I've never understood that term when it comes to relationships. I think mostly because I call my own dad daddy so it would just be awkward for me. It's cute sometimes when others do it, but I could never.

I am setting goals again. Make it happen or no updates!! (lol, joking XD)
