Chapter 91
Secret Billionaire’s Contract Bride: Marrying My Enemy’s Lover
Chapter 91
We were pregnant. I was already picturing her with a swollen belly and what our baby would look like.
She was convinced we were having a boy but something told me that it was a girl. I donât know what it
was, but my intuition was just telling me that it was a little girl.
A mini Adie.
She would be the most gorgeous girl this world had ever seen. I knew that because her mother was the
most stunning woman I had ever laid eyes on.
She would have the very best parts of Adic and the very best parts of me.
I had bought about twenty different books that explained pregnancy and how the birthing experience
would be. I had already called in some of the countyâs best OBGYNs. I wanted my baby and wife to
have the very best that money could buy.
I even made sure that I got a chef who could make a diet specific to her needs. I also got her an Apple
watch to track her steps and monitor her heart rate.
If I had it my way, she would be carried around and off her feet but she said that it would be âexcessiveâ
Nothing was too excessive in my eyes when it came to my wife and baby. I needed them to be taken
care of, no matter what it took
I made sure to lessen my workload and allow more time for Adie. I needed to be there when she
needed me.
I was scrolling through my phone and seeing what size fruit my baby was today. We were at the 6-7
week mark and the baby was now the size of a blueberry. They had a heartbeat and we would be
listening to it for the first time today.
To say I was excited would be an understatement. I had been waiting for this moment for what seemed
like a lifetime.
I hadnât grown up in the best of households but now I got to create a healthy one with the woman I
loved.
A knock came at my door and absently I told them to come in. My head was still buried in my phone as
I read about all the possible symptoms my wife could be feeling that I had not noticed who had walked
in until she spoke.
âHey,â Angelaâs soft voice reached my ears.
1 lifted my gaze from my phone. âAngela, what are you doing here?â
âI thought Iâd drop by-1 was in the neighborhood.â She made herself comfortable on the other end of
my desk. âItâs actually lunch and I thought maybe you would want to grab a bite to eat. I havenât seen
you since you went to Paris.â
âAh yesâ I pocketed my phone and gave her my undivided attention for the moment. âWell, you didnât
need to come here. Iâm actually about to head out to meet with Adie, we have a meeting to attend
together.â
My wifeâs feelings toward her had not changed and I would not step over that boundary we had placed
for each other. She would do her best with Gabriel and I would keep Angela at armâs length.
Her smile slipped slightly. âOh, yes, of course. How are you two doing? I didnât get a chance to speak to
you about all that transpired with Paris.â
âItâs all resolved now and weâre better than ever.â And we really were. This baby was like a second
chance for both of us. A fresh start. âI need to go now.â
I stood from my seat and made my way to the door but Angela followed behind me and left the office
with me. She fell into step beside me and I could tell that she had something on her mind from the side
eye she was giving me.
âYou can say what you need to,â I said as we got into the elevator and made our way down. âYour brain
is incredibly loudâ
âI donât want to speak out of tone,â she said nervously. âBut I just worry about you.â
I arched an eyebrow at her.
âAfter the rumors and the pictures that surfaced, are you truly okay with Adelaide being so close to a
man like that?â
My body went rigid but only for a few seconds.
âI have no need to worry about Adie and quite frankly this is none of your business, Angela. My
marriage is mine to deal with and no one elseâs.â
The door dinged open and I stepped out before turning back to face her.
âHave a good dayâ
With that, I left her standing there. I didnât want to be an asshole but from now on I would protect my
relationship with my wife jealously I didnât need someone speaking negatively about what we had. We
knew what we had was special anxi unbreakable. We just needed to stay focused on ourselves and not
let the outside voices win.
Chapter 91
The little thumping filled the room and I watched my wifeâs eyes light up like Christmas trees.
âItâs so fastâ She watched the monitor of our little bundle of joy safely encased in her womb.
My hand held onto hers as I tried to hold back the tears I had promised myself I would not shed.
âRight, you have one healthy baby. Theyâre measuring perfectly for this far along and your vitals all look
good.â The technician smiled at us. âI think on your next visit I may be able to tell you the sex of the
baby as wellâ
Adieâs face snapped in my direction with a beaming smile. âI donât want to know. Do you?â
âWhatever you want my love.â I kissed the top of her head and smiled. âI just want you and the baby to
be happy and healthy.â
Seeing the absolute joy on her face was the best reward that I could ever receive. I wanted to do
nothing but protect this woman with my life. She was my everything.
âOkay, so we will keep the babyâs sex a secret,â the technician said to us. âIâll schedule your
appointment with Dr. Haas in three weeks.â
We nodded.
âGreat, so I will print these out for you and you can get them at the front desk. The technician then left,
leaving us alone to
take in the moment.
I helped Adie to wipe the gel that had been on her stomach. She set up and her eyes stayed glued to
the frozen screen.
She was in awe of the baby and I was in awe of both of them.
It was true what they said about pregnant women glowing. There was this light that she carried around
with her.
âCan you pass me my bag?â
I handed her the bag and came to sit beside her. âWhatâs going on in that pretty little head of yours?â
She rummaged through it for a little bit trying to dig out her phone. When she had it she lifted her eyes
to meet mine and I could see that she had a flurry of emotions in those beautiful eyes of hers.
âIâm excited about the baby but Iâm also scared.â She let out a nervous laugh. âThis is the first time Iâll
be a mom and⦠and 1 donât want to screw this up. Not the way that my parents did.â
I pulled her into my side and gave her a small kiss on top of the head. âYou wonât screw this up. You will
be an amazing mother and I have no doubt that you-â
I was interrupted by the sound of her phone going off. She picked it up and held it to her ear.
âHello? Yes, this is she.â Her eyebrows pulled together in confusion. âOh, my God! When?â
Immediately I was put on high alert when I saw the fear take over her face. I pulled back to look at her
face properly.
âYes, yes Iâll be there in a few minutes.â She cut the call and then turned to me with wide eyes. âItâs
Corinna. Something happened.â
