Chapter 77
Secret Billionaire’s Contract Bride: Marrying My Enemy’s Lover
Chapter 77
âOkay and cut! Thatâs a wrap for today, ladies and gentlemen. The next time I see you all we will be in
Parisâ
Everyone around me clapped with excitement. The film was progressing so well and we were even far
ahead of schedule. The past two weeks had been grueling but they had been worth it. It was even
sweeter now that my husband and I were finally back on track
âOh la la, mon cherie.â Lucas came up beside me and draped his arm over my shoulder. âWe shall be
in Paris for a whole three weeks! The food, the culture, the men!â
I couldnât help but laugh at his antics. Of course, those were the most important things to him. But for
me, this was a chance for me and my husband to get some real downtime. We had been put through
the wringer the last two months and we deserved to just fall in love all over again in the city of love.
âOn that note.â I hugged my friend and detached myself from him. âI need to head home to see my
man. Thank you very
muchâ
To be in love and happily married.â
âItâs a dream.â I batted my eyelashes.
And it was. Being married to Damon was everything and though we had our challenges I would never
trade him in for the
world
In my peripheral vision, I could see Gabriel headed toward me and I decided to make a quick exit.
His words still lingered fresh in my mind. And though I didnât ice him out completely I couldnât have him
lingering around me. Damon was still not comfortable with him and I wanted to respect my husband.
I had been in denial of it at first but after that lunch date with Gabriel, it was clear where he stood. And
though he had made no advances my way it didnât mean that he wasnât going to if given the
opportunity.
Those had been words that had come directly out of his own mouth. I needed to be careful here. And
being careful meant keeping my distance. I was still yet to tell Damon about the conversation and there
was a part of me that didnât want to tell him. I didnât think that it was exactly necessary. What good
would it do for us now that we were finally in a good place? I had made it back to my trailer when I was
caught by the wrist
âAdelaide.â I closed my eyes, cursing myself for not just heading straight to the car.
I turned around pulling my hand out of his grip. Thankfully he didnât hold on to me tightly. I took a step
away from him, creating muchâneeded distance.
âCan we talk?â
âWorkârelated?â
He scratched the back of his neck. âUs related.â
âThere is no, us.â
âYou know what I mean, Adelaide. What I said when we had lunch together, I-â
âItâs fine, Gabriel.â I tried to add a little light laugh to make it lightâhearted but it only made it a little more
awkward. âI need to get home to my husband. Weâre going to Paris tomorrow and I need to get
packingâ
âHeâs coming with us to Paris?â
âYes.â That wasnât the full truth. Damon was coming to Paris but he was going to spend the week with
me before I was scheduled to shoot for the movie. It was all preâplanned out. âI need to go. See you in
two weeks.â
I decided to just head straight to my car. I had my keys and anything else I had left could be taken by
Lucas or Jenna. I just needed to get home to my man.
As soon as I walked through the door I was greeted with a hundred red roses and a smiling husband
who had both his hands behind his back.
âWhatâs all of this about?â I tried to peer behind his back but he kept the object well hidden.
âJust because I love you.â He smiled and leaned forward toward my lips. âGive me a kiss.â
I laughed lightly and kissed his lips. I melted into him, my hands pressing against his chest.
âIf this is how I get to come home every day then sign me up. I joked, pulling away from him. âThe
flowers are gorgeous, baby.â
âWell, those are simply an addâon present to this.â He pulled his arms away from his back and
presented me with a large velvet box
Chapter 77
My mouth hung open âDamon..
He opened the box and side lay the most beautiful necklace I had ever seen in my entire life. It was a
teardrop necklace that had a large blue sapphire as the center of attraction Diamond made up the rest
of the gorgeous piece.
1 Idom know what to say â
He placed the box on the small table that had a large vase filled with flowers. He gently took out the
necklace and sand,
âTurnâ
I did as I was told and lifted up my hair. I was dressed in sweats and a tight tank I looked like I
belonged in a shelter I had not business wearing such a magnificent piece
The cool damond touched my skin and I shivered Just from the sheer weight of it. I knew that it cost a
hefty sum. I afraid to even ask how many zeros he had decided to cash out today
He clasped the necklace and then moved me so I was facing hum âIt sunts you wellâ
âLet me seeâ I walked over to the mirror on the side of the wall
Immediately I was stunned into silence The sapphire complimented my tan skin and glistened against
the chandelier lights. I felt like a princess
âItâs beautifulâ I whirled around to face my husband. âBut itâs too much, babyâ
âWell I think itâs not enough. Thereâs no jewel on this earth that will ever be enough to be matched by
your beautyâ He placed his hands on my hips pulling me toward him. âI know youâre worried about the
price but donât be, okay? Iâm a billionaire with a big R
âShut up,â the tears were already starting to pool in my eyes. âYouâre so good to meâ
âI love you and I have far too much money, more than I know what to do with Why shouldnât I spoil the
love of my life?â
I looked down at the diamond necklace. âI love it, babyâ
âAnd I love youâ He kissed my lips softly. âAnd I canât wait for us to be living it up in Paris. Just the two
of us in complete and utter bliss away from the world. Just me and my babyâ
That did sound like heaven
The moment was perfect except for the part where my stomach roared to life.
âLooks like someone is hungry.â
âI may have forgotten to eat lunch today.â
He rolled his eyes. âWhat am I going to do with you? Come on, let me make you something to eat.â
âUmm are we sure thatâs a good idea?â
âOh, come on Ive been practicing. My PR and J is fiveâstar level nowâ
âI even fear you making that.â I joked, causing him to frown. âWhy donât we just order in? Iâll even watch
a Marvel movie with you
That piqued his interest âDo I get to feel you up?â
âDonât you always I teased him back.
âMrs Steyn, you have yourself a deal.â
âGood, âcause weâre doing Thaiâ
Immediately his smile dropped. âYou tricked me.â
The man hated Thai food with a passion. Why? I had no idea. It was delicious and tasted ten times
better than the food he tried to feed me
âNo,â I reached up on my toes and kissed his nose before scurrying to the stairs. âI just play the game
better than you.â
âYouâre going to regret that.â He smiled at me from the same spot I had left him.
âI look forward to my punishment, Mr. Steyn.â
