Chapter 73
Secret Billionaire’s Contract Bride: Marrying My Enemy’s Lover
Chapter 73
*Damon*
On the one day I needed to get back to LA, Vegas decided to rain. It was the fucking desert and it had
decided to rain. What the fuck?
I called and texted my wife but she was giving me the cold shoulder. The only thing I got back from her
were the three words I needed to hear to know that we would make it out of this mess alive.
âI love youâ
I would be lying if I said that I hadnât had my doubts about her feelings. toward me. What I had said to
her was wrong and if it had been me I would have been so hurt by the accusations, I donât know what I
would have done. She was far more gracious and I was truly undeserving of a wife like her.
I parked my car in the driveway and saw that her car was missing. I didnât know if that made me
relieved or sad. I wanted to get my groveling done immediately but maybe I needed to better prepare
myself some more.
I had been expecting to come home to a silent and empty home. But to my utter shock and surprise the
first thing I heard the moment I stepped foot into the foyer was the unmistakable voice of my older
brother.
âYou bitch! How could you do this to me?!â his voice roared from the living room traveling all the way
into this room.
There was only one person he would speak to like that and though I didnât like her he didnât get a pass
on disrespecting her in my house. I left my bags at the front and marched my way to the living room.
I had been on edge for the last 48 hours and drilling my fist into my brotherâs face felt like a great way
to relieve the stress that was trapped in my shoulders.
âLeave Ashton.â I came to see Corinna on the other side of the room near the corner where a plant
stood tall. Her face was stern and unwavering but from her body language alone I knew that she was a
little uneasy.
âAnd what do we have here?â I kept my tone easy and light. I leaned against the door frame and looked
at my brother. âWhat are you doing in my house, Ashton?â

âI came to get my wife.â
âLast I heard, sheâs divorcing your sorry ass.â
My brotherâs eyes blazed. âThat was just some bullshit tantrum she was throwing. Corinna knows the
deal we made and she needs to stick to it. I know you could give two fucks about me, brother. Allow me
to just take my wife home and I will gladly leave your tin can of a home.â
âTin can?â I clicked my tongue on the roof of my mouth. âNeed I remind you that you have nothing to
your name? This tin can of a house is far more than you can afford.â
âI have money,â he spat.
It was such a shame to see how the mighty and brilliant Ashton Steyn had fallen. He prided himself in
being in a far better tax bracket than most and here he was squandering for change from his wife who
was worth tens of millionsâthanks to the inheritance.
âWhat you have is the kindness of your wifeâs heart to allow you to have access to her wealth. You are
nothing in this world, Ashton.â I kicked off the frame and took a few steps into the room. âWhat you are
is a washedâup politician whoâs clinging onto the little popularity he has. You know sheâs your best shot
at governor, right? Thatâs why you want her to come with you. The debate is in three days no? Now
what would the press say if they saw you arrive alone? That would confirm the split,
huh?â
Ashton balled his fists at the side of his body. His face took on a red tint as the anger filled his veins by
the second.
âI should say the same to you, brother,â some of the anger melted from his face. âLast I read your wife
was opening her legs for yet another successful man. Tell me, do you think he humps her from behind,
or does he likes to take it from the front?â
He was baiting me. I knew he was. But the fact that I was currently in a fight with my wife over this
actor did nothing to bring about my levelâheaded nature.
That was the thing about Ashton. He knew how to get under my skin and it was the most annoying
thing in this world. He was very skilled in this regard.
âKeep talking about my wife and I will have you buried six feet under in

two seconds flat.â
âOoh scary,â he waved his hands in the air. âItâs okay. Your wife has been passed around a few times so
it shouldnâtâshit!â
My fist connected with his face and to my dissatisfaction, I didnât hear the crunch of a broken bone
beneath it.
I guess I would just have to swing again.
He lifted his head and looked at me with a bleeding nose. âTouchy I see.â
I grabbed the collar of his buttonâdown, moving us back till his back hit the wall. âIf you ever speak
about my wife again, I will put a bullet in the middle of your head.â
The bastard had the nerve to grin with blood staining his teeth. âViolence is not your look. All this for a
piece of pussy?â
My fist connected with his stomach again making him heave. But instead of being normal and shutting
his mouth, he kept going.
âI wonder if I go back to her will she spread her legs for me again? I remember how she liked to be
taken from behind. Tell me, brother, do you fuck her like a whore or a bitch?â
Red. All I could see was the blinding rage and I lost it.
Punch after punch, I drilled into him.
I was going to kill him. I had warned him and he had pushed and pushed and now he was going to pay.
When it came to Adelaide I became unhinged. I was not afraid to spill blood for her and that was what a
lot of people didnât understand. I was willing to kill for her.
âDamon, stop! Youâll kill him.â I could barely register Corinnaâs voice. âDamon!â
My brother grunted taking every hit I gave him. At this point, he was bloodied and bruised but I wasnât
stopping. I wanted this asshole to pay for what he said. But if I was being honest, there was more to it
than that. The whole, Gabriel situation had fucked my head over and I didnât know how to deal with it.
My marriage was hanging in the air and I didnât know what would happen next.
And now I was taking it all out on my brother.
âDamon!â Corinna screamed again but this time she grabbed my arm

when it pulled back to hit Ashton again. âStop. You canât let Adie walk into this. Please. Please.â
Thatâs when I stopped. I didnât stop because I was about to kill my brother, but because this whole
ordeal would affect my wife.
I dropped him to the floor and stepped back. I turned to look at Corinna who had tears running down
her face. She looked absolutely terrified and for some reason that hit me harder than I thought it would.
âGo upstairs.â I made sure to keep my voice gentle and calm. I didnât want to scare her. âIâll take care of
this.â
She nodded weakly and made her way out of the room.
C
Ashton spat out bloodied spit onto the floor. I had the urge to kick him in the stomach but I held back.
The idiot wasnât worth my time.
âYouâre lucky I didnât kill your ass.â I spat. âBut make no mistake, open your mouth like that again, blood
or not, youâre dead.â
