Chapter 61
Secret Billionaire’s Contract Bride: Marrying My Enemy’s Lover
Chapter 61
*Damon*
I cut my engine off and I saw her already standing outside the building. I was already floating on cloud
nine. Adelaide and I were better than ever and business was fantastic. I had just closed in on a 60
million dollar deal with Alesso, an Italian businessman, and now I was set to strike a new deal with a
guy from Dubai who wanted to open one of his chains here in LA.
Maybe the saying that you need to break apart in order to come together was true. Because that was
exactly what Adelaide and I were.
I saw Angela standing at the entrance of the building. She had a smile on her face and she wore an all-
white pantsuit. But the one noticeable change I found was that she had dyed her hair blonde. It was a
stark contrast from the red that I had met her with.
I walked toward her with a skip in my step. âGood morning.â
She stepped toward me and kissed both my cheeks. âGood morning. You look happy.â
âWhat is there not to be happy about? The sky is blue, the sun is bright, and my wife is smiling and
happy.â
âYour wife?â She cleared her throat a little. âYou guys fixed things?â
I nodded. âAnd weâre better than ever. How are you doing?â
She shrugged, âIâm okay. Iâm just working a case for this movie star, but itâs a quick fix.â
âGood to hear. So, whereâs your friend?â
âOh he couldnât make it but he did give me the keys so we can view it.â She dangled a pair of keys in
the air. âShall we?â
âLead the way.â
The location was okay. It wasnât too far out from the house and I think it was also relatively close to the
studio, which meant that when Adie was shooting I could stop by. It wasnât necessarily in the downtown
area but it was close enough.
The building itself was about two stories high and medium-sized. In Vegas, I had a ten-floor building
that I had constructed which I cleverly named The Tower. This was much smaller in comparison but
there also wouldnât be as huge a team here as there would be in Vegas.
up
âFrom what I was told this would run you a cool 3.9 million but they are open to negotiations. So just
keep that in mind. If you can offer cash then that would be even better. I think then you would be in a
better place to negotiate for the price.â
âHmm,â my eyes moved around the building taking in the build of the structure. I was very particular
when it came to these things. A lot of the time realtors just spouted out a bunch of stats and facts that
often caught a lot off guard.
Theyâd lie and say that certain materials were imported from Italy when in actuality they were from
China, like the majority of building materials. They were easier to source and to buy. Unlike materials
from within the states which had a much higher value for pretty much the same quality.
âSo there are two levels of course. All the floors are made of hard tile and the bathrooms have white
marble. Itâs not anything really fancy but it is beautiful.â
We walked through the building together as she showed me the empty space.
There was a lot of potential here and I had no doubt that I could turn this space into something to
behold. But in the same breath, the price point was not really equating to what I was seeing
âSo what do you think?â We walked outside into the hot LA heat. âI think itâs a good starting point and
from the work Iâve seen you do, I know that you could turn this space into something truly special.â
friend in you Mr. Steyn.â
âSo tell me what your homework assignment found about me?â
âThat youâre a talented developer and on the Forbes 100 list. You also love to be active and have a
passion for the finer things in life.â
âYou got that all from an article?â I arched my brow. Who was even writing these things? I didnât give
interviews often.
âI may have done some personal digging.â She smiled bashfully. âI just like to know who I have near
me. The world is scary for single women like me.â
âYouâre single? I donât know why I presumed you were married.â I looked down at the hand that I swear
I had seen a ring on. But her left hand was very much missing a ring.
The smile faded from her lips. âI was married butââ
Her words were cut off by my phone going off.
âSorry, excuse me,â I stepped away from her and took my phone out of my pocket. I smiled as soon as
I saw the caller ID.
âHello, wife.â
âHey, husband.â Her face lit up my screen. âI thought I would bother you for a little bit before I have to
go in for my meeting.â
âThatâs sweet. Well, I just viewed the building with Angela and I like it. It needs a few tweaks here and
there but for the most part, itâs good.â
âIâm happy for you, baby.â There was something in her tone that I didnât like. Something was off.
âOkay, out with it.â I sighed. âAnd donât try to feed me some bullshit like youâre okay when youâre clearly
not. Whatâs wrong?â
âNothing is wrong.â She was trying to play it off but I could see right through her.
âI can tell that something isnât okay so either tell me now or weâll continue to have the same
conversation over and over again until you finally talk.â
âOkay fine. The real reason I called you was because I wanted to see what the Angela woman looked
like.â
âAre you jealous, wife?â I couldnât help but tease her. She was being just far too cute. âI already told
you. You have nothing to worry about. In fact-Angela?â
My wifeâs eyes went wide. âWhat are you doing? Donât call her over here.â
But it was too late Angela was already walking toward me. Her eyes shifted from my phone to my face
with a curious look in her eyes
âAdie. Iâd like you to meet Angela Angela, this is my beautiful wife Adelaide.â I smiled at my wife who
was smiling too but I could see the murder behind her eyes.
âOh my goodness, you are stunning.â Angela greeted Adie. âIâve heard so many wonderful things about
youâ
âItâs so nice to meet you too, she said back. âDamon tells me youâre a lawyer?â
âYes, I am. I work in corporate law but I do represent some A-listers,â she replied.
They were being so nice to each other, I just knew that they would get along well. Adie was worried for
nothing. Angela was a
sweet woman who only wanted to help a man when he was down.
We chatted for a little bit longer before Adie had to go..
âI see why you love her. The woman is radiant.â
âShe is, isnât she?â I had known it from the very moment I laid eyes on her. She was my one, my
person.
âTell your friend that Iâll be in touch with an offer and Iâll see you around okay?â
âOf course,â she said her goodbyes and walked toward her white Porsche.
Things were looking up for me and just like this day, the future seemed endless and limitless. I only
hoped that the grey clouds were far away. But I should have known that things in my life never stayed
sunny for too long.
