Chapter 121
Secret Billionaire’s Contract Bride: Marrying My Enemy’s Lover
Chapter 121
Tabitha brought a glass to my lips. Her hand laying under my chin gently.
âYou need to drink, Adelaide. Your baby needs itâ
My eyes went wide as I took the water into my mouth. I ripped my lips away from the bottle.
âIâm not pregnant, I donât know what baby you are talking about.â
If she knew, did that mean that Ashton and Angela knew too? I couldnât risk them finding out I was
pregnant. I would have to convince them I wasnât pregnant. No matter what happened, I had to keep
this baby safe.
âDonât worry, Iâm the only one that knows. I didnât tell them that youâre pregnant.â She smiled softly at
me before she brought the water to my lips again. âI am not a cruel person. A baby is a gift and should
be treasured, not abused or used as a bargaining tool.â
1 took the water from her and made sure that I was hydrated. My hands were still bound to the chair
but at least Angela and Ashton had stepped away.
Ashton may have thought that he was the mastermind behind this whole operation but the poor fool
was being played like a violin. This was Angelaâs plan. She didnât need the money, she wanted the one
thing that she knew she could never have as long as I was around.
âTabitha.â I looked into her eyes just praying that somehow I could get through to her. âPlease, you
donât have to do this. I know that you are innocent in all of this. You have been roped into doing this by
these two psychos. You are a good person. Please just untie me and let me go.â
I could see the conflict in her eyes. She wanted to let me go but I also knew her blind loyalty to that
man was unwavering. She had stayed with him after everything with Corinna for crying out loud. If she
could put up with that, who knew what she was willing to do?
âI canât.â She looked away from me, placing the water down. âI need to do this for Bella. The money
from the ransom will be used for her future and her education later on.â
Oh, how wrong she was.
âNo, it wonât be, Tabitha. Angela is playing you both. Ashton wants to be with Angela but Angela wants
Damon. She wants to keep him all to herself and she is using you two in this plan of hers. I donât know
exactly what it is yet but I do know that itâs not good. And she will treat you like collateral. You canât trust
her.â
I could tell that my words were upsetting her from the way she was scowling at me. She shook her
head sadly and stood to
her feet.
âYouâre wrong. Ashton and I have been very happy together since his divorce. 1leâs been around more
for me and Bella. He cares about us-about me.â Even from the look in her eyes, I knew that was trying
to convince herself that her own words
were true.
Despite her part in all this, I felt bad for her. Sheâd fallen in love with a monster and she really had no
idea what he was capable of doing.
âCan you truly say he treats you kindly? He only came to find you after the divorce with my sister. If
they had not gotten divorced, he would have never left her side. The man has an agenda and you are
simply a means to an end for him. I know you donât want to see it that way because your love for him is
blinding you but you know Iâm not wrong about this.â She tore her eyes from me, her lips coming in
between her teeth. âHe loves me. I know he does.â
âNo,â I pleaded with her to see sense. âHe doesnât love you. He loves what you can do for him and
there is a difference. You need to value yourself more than you care for him. You need to stand up and
choose yourself because if you donât-â âFor fuckâs sake shut up.â
Angela came around the corner and into the living room. She had changed into a black outfit that
looked like she was a spy in some bad 2000s movie. âDo you know that you talk way too much? Itâs
actually irritating. And you, Tabby, you can leave.â She waved her hands dismissively at her and
scowled with disgust.
âBut Ashton told me to stay with her.â
âAshton isnât in charge, I am and I am telling you to leave me alone with my little friend over here. We
have some catching up to do, donât we Adie?â
âGo to hell, Angela,â I hissed at her with as much venom as I could muster. She was grating on my last
nerve and all 1 could think of at this moment was, yet again, she was causing havoc in my life.
A permanent solution needed to be found for her.
âSuch harsh words for a little small-town girl like you. Do you kiss your husband with that mouth of
yours?â
I glared at her but this time I didnât respond.
âTabitha leave, you are no longer needed here.â
Tabitha nodded solemnly and stood up. She gave me a look before she exited out of the room leaving
me with the witch.
âOh, how the tables have turned,â she leered at me with a smirk on her face. âYou called your
checkmate a little too early. Adelaide. You forgot that you were playing with a master.â
I scoffed. âAre you ashamed?â
âOf what exactly?â
âThe fact that you duped them both into thinking that this is all about the money. But I have to hand it to
you, Angela, you really have outdone yourself this time.â
âItâs not my fault the two of them are gullible and broken. The poor girl canât even see that this man
wants nothing to do with her and Ashton still wants the perfect life. When people are desperate that is
when you strike. You can get people to do practically anything when they see no other option.â
I looked over her shoulder and saw that Tabitha was peeking around the corner.
Yes. This was exactly what I had hoped for. I just needed her to rat on herself and then maybe I would
find an ally in Tabitha.
âI always knew you were sick and twisted but to make Ashton believe you love him when you know that
Tabitha has given her entire heart and soul to that man? I didnât see that coming.â
âShe fell in love with the wrong man, and besides, it wasnât hard to convince a narcissist like him. All I
needed to do was tell him everything he wanted to hear. Hook. Line. And sinker.â
This was perfect. This was exactly what I wanted but when I looked over her shoulder and hoped to
see the small peak of brown hair by the corner, it was gone.
Where had she gone?
Angela grabbed my chin roughly forcing me to look her way. She brought her face mere inches from
mine, the smell of her lunch wafting in my face.
âBy the time he finds you, you will be dead somewhere in a ditch and I will be right there beside him to
comfort him when he needs it most. With you out of my way, he will finally be where he belongs.â
She had lost it for sure.
âCheckmate, Adelaide.â
Before I could respond to her Ashton came around the corner with a furious look in his eyes. His face
took on this ferocious red color and the vein in the side of his head popped out.
âWhat the fuck, Angela?!â
Oh no, Angela. This game was still in motion.
