Chapter 100
Secret Billionaire’s Contract Bride: Marrying My Enemy’s Lover
Chapter 100
I was about 17 weeks pregnant and my clothes were all getting tighter and tighter by the day. It was
getting harder and harder to hide my growing belly. We had still not announced it to the media because
I wanted to keep this one little precious thing to ourselves. I wasnât ready to share our little baby with
the rest of the world.
When things were exposed to the world they somehow always ended up ruined and I didnât want that to
be the case for us and the baby.
After all that had transpired with Ashton, Damon was being extra cautious with me. Unless it was work
he rarely let me out of his sight. It was kind of obsessive but cute at the same time.
He liked to do these little check-ins every now and again to just make sure that I was alright. Now that I
was in the second trimester all the morning sickness had gone away and I was happy. I was able to
keep more food down but the need to pee every few minutes was insane.
I stretched my feet and stared at the screen for a little while longer before turning my laptop off.
Today had been another full day of filming and I was exhausted. My bed was calling my name and I
was ready to answer its call.
I switched off all of the lights in my trailer and made my way to the parking lot where I saw Gabriel by
his car using some very colorful language with whoever was on the other end of his phone call
I paused and watched him for a while.
Gabriel was not an explosive person so the fact that he was blowing up right now meant that something
was seriously wrong.
âThis is bullshit honestly,â were the last words he said before he hung up the phone. He ran a tired
hand through his hair and cursed under his breath. He lifted his eyes to meet mine and instantly he
straightened himself out and put on that easy going smile of his.
âAdelaide, heyâ
I walked over to him curious as to what had transpired. âAre you okay?â
âMeâ Yeah, I just needed to sort something out today that hadnât been sorted out the way I wanted it to
be.â
âIs that why you were screaming at those people on the phone?â
âI wasnât screaming at anyone on the phoneâ He tried to laugh it off but I saw right through his façade.
He let out a heavy sigh and finally dropped the little act he was trying to put on. âMy house has been
infested and I was just told that I need to move out for a week or so so they can get the bug problem
fixed.â
âOh,â well that was the last thing I had been expecting to come out of his mouth. âDo you have a place
to stay?â
âI was going to stay at the Havner but I still need to go and collect my stuff and then I need to also-â
âYou can stay at my place.â The words blurted right out of me like vomit, âI mean, you donât have to
waste money on a hotel. You can just come and stay at mine for free. We have far too much space and
it really wonât be a bother at all.â
What was I doing? it was not lost on me that my husband still had his feelings about Gabriel but since
we were in the business of helping out our friends then why not?
âAre you sure? I know the last time your husband wasnât exactly too fond of me.â
I waved him off trying to quiet his concerns. âHeâll be fine, and besides itâs not like you still have feelings
for me, right?â
He nodded. âRight. Well, if thatâs the case then Iâll just head back home and get my stuff. Can you send
me your address?*
âMhmm,â I nodded.
âGreatâ The smile returned to his face but this time it reached all the way up to his eyes. âThank you for
this, Adelaide. It means a lot.â
He hesitated for a brief second before he leaned forward and placed a quick chaste kiss on my cheek.
The movement caught me off guard and all I could do was just stand there like a fool.
He gave me a wink and then he got into his sleek McLaren and drove off, leaving me standing there
gaping like a complete and utter fool. It took Lucas coming up behind me and clearing his throat to
bring my attention back to the present.
âGirl, what was that?â He crossed his arms over his chest and arched his perfectly tweezed brow. âDid
that man just lay a big fat wet one on your cheek?â
âIt wasnât like that, he was and then I said⦠oh Lucas, I think I just fucked up.â
âSweetie,â he said as he pulled me into his side with a little puppy dog face on, âyou royally fucked up.â
I should text my husband. That would be the wise thing to do so that he is not caught off guard when
he comes to find this man in our house
But i had been staring at my phone for the past hour trying to formulate the text to send him. I had
contemplated a phone call but then I didnât want to risk hearing his voice. I didnât want to hear the hurt
or the anger in his tone.
Avoiding him was certainly not the way to go about things but I didnât know what to say. And I couldnât
just un-invite the person I had asked to stay at my house-it was rude. So I needed to sort out this mess
before he came home for dinner.
I was home alone for now. Corinna was at a meeting with that Daniel guy. Apparently, they were
working on a new project together. I knew she liked him and I hoped to the heavens that he genuinely
liked her. There were a lot of horrid men in this world and she had been dealt some very shitty cards
and she was in need of a win for once.
The doorbell rang.
Heâs here.
I got up from the couch and made my way to the foyer to open it for him.
âHeyâ I smiled, opening the door up for him. âDid you find the place okay?â
He stood there with his suitcase and signature smile. His eyes were taking in what was behind me and
I noticed the awe and wonder in them.
âYou live in a beautiful fortressâ was the first thing he said to me as he walked into the foyer. His eyes
looked all over the area drinking in the beautiful interior that was mostly courtesy of my husband. This
was his forte, not mine.
âItâs all thanks to Damon if Iâm being honest. Heâs the true genius behind both our home and the
security system.ââ
He had upped it since the whole Ashton incident and I had humored him. Was it a bit excessive? Yes.
But this made him feel much better. We now had armed guards on the premises and the surveillance
was some of the best that money could buy.
âLet me show you to your room.â I turned to walk him down the hall when I heard a throat clear behind
us and my entire body went stiff as stone. I turned slowly already knowing who I was going to see
behind me.
âDamon.â
But my husband wasnât looking at me. His eyes were hard set on Gabriel. The tension grew thicker in
the air.
The silence was deafening. You could hear a pin drop.
âWhy the fuck is he in my house?â His tone was low and calm which only added to the iciness in the
room.
I should have just sent that text.
