Chapter 99
Reborn Before The Divorce
Nydia stood up, straightened her clothes and hair, and flashed a charming smile at Jesse. âIâm going out,â she said.
Jesse watched her figure as she walked away, the spaghetti straps of her dress outlining her slender waist and the curve of her hips. Her ankles peeked out from under the hem of the dress, almost luminous in their paleness, and he felt his breath catch in his throat at the thought of grasping them with his hand.
Images flashed through his mind, and he felt a burning heat suffuse his body.
With a loud bang, the door closed behind her, cutting off Jesseâs view. He looked down at his legs, clenching his fist and striking the bed with a fierce blow.
He forced himself to calm down and picked up the phone to call Vincent.
âIs there any way to treat my legs?â he asked.
Vincent was surprised that Jesse would call him to ask about his leg injury, but he responded eagerly and methodically, âIâm still thinking about it, but thereâs one condition. You must keep your leg muscles from atrophying on a large scale, otherwise, even if there is a treatment in the future, it will be useless.â
Jesse had been cooperative before, but there had been no improvement, which had made his mood worse and he had stopped cooperating with the treatment. Why did he bring it up again now?
After hanging up the phone, Jesse rolled up his pants and looked at his legs. His face was dark and he didnât want to see them himself. What if Nydia saw themâ¦
Meanwhile, Nydia was deeply puzzled. She had clearly seen strong sexual desire in Jesseâs eyes earlier, and when he kissed her, he was urgent and domineering, his hand on her waist scorching hot. Why did he suddenly stop?
Could it really be that he couldnât perform?
Stopping now is better than stopping later because itâs too embarrassing if you canât go on. Nydia gradually calmed down as she thought about it, while Jesse took a long shower to cool down the heat inside his body.
The next morning, during breakfast, Nydia noticed that Jesse wasnât feeling well. âYour⦠complexion doesnât look good,â she said, noticing that Jesseâs lips were dry and red, his eye sockets were sunken, and he had dark circles under his eyes. His nose was also dry.
âItâs nothing,â he replied hoarsely.
Nydia reached out and touched his forehead, but he immediately grabbed her wrist. She could feel the heat in his palm. âYou have a fever,â she said.
He hadnât had a fever when he was injured before. Why did he have one today? âItâs nothing, just a cold. Iâll take some medicine and be fine,â he said, clearly not taking it seriously.
He didnât feel quite right when he woke up this morning. His throat hurt and his head was heavy. He probably caught a cold after taking a long shower last night and drinking a lot of alcohol, which caused his body to go from hot to cold.
âDaddy, mommy, are you both competing to have a fever?â Molly pouted and asked.
Why did mommy get a fever first and then daddy also get a fever?
âDaddy and mommy are not behaving well. We didnât take care of ourselves and got a fever. You both should take good care of yourselves.â
Mollyâs eyes turned like peaches as she smiled like fox.
âWhen mommy was sick, daddy took care of mommy. Now that daddy is sick, mommy should take care of him too. If you donât take good care of him, you will be criticized and have to write a self-criticism letter.â
âWhat?â But that depends on whether Jesse is willing to do it!
âAt New Year, letâs see who writes more self-criticism letters, daddy or mommy.â
Jesse and Nydia glanced at each other and both saw helplessness in each otherâs eyes.
âMommy, you have to sleep with daddy tonight,â Molly reminded them in a childish voice.
