Chapter 61
Reborn Before The Divorce
âIâll go ask if thereâs any medicine for bruises.â
The nurse left their room and went over to Vincentâs side.
âDr. Wallaker, do you have any topical medicine for bruises? Mrs. Pascall has a large bruise on her arm.â
âI didnât bring it since itâs for external injuries. Is it serious?â
âItâs not too serious. It should heal in about a week if she takes care of it.â
âIâll have someone go buy the medicine later,â Jesse said.
âOkay.â
After Vincent and the nurse finished treating her, they left. Today, the atmosphere in the Pascall family was not good, so it was impossible to ask them to stay for dinner.
âMom, Dad, weâre heading back now,â Jesse said, taking Nydia with him.
They sat in the car. Nydia hunched over, unable to stop herself from shaking and afraid to lean back against the seat in case she bumped into her injury.
In comparison, Jesse seemed unharmed, except for his slightly pale lips.
The car was quiet. Nydia knew that Jesse wouldnât speak unless she did.
âThe situation online is getting worse. Shouldnât we intervene?â Nydia spoke up.
âIâve already taken care of it.â
Okay, there was nothing else to talk about.
âI had someone investigate, and it seems to be related to Mrs. Wollridge, Louieâs wife.â Nydia continued.
Jesseâs brows furrowed, and his expression was displeased.
Seeing him like this, Nydiaâs heart sank. What did he mean?
âYou seem to know a lot of people,â she said tentatively.
That didnât sound like a compliment.
âI hired a hacker last time to investigate Martyâs case, and since this also falls under the hacker category, I asked him to help out with this too.â
âDo you already know it was Mrs. Wollridge who did it?â Noticing Jesseâs lack of surprise and all his attention focused on her, Nydia could tell that he probably already found out.
âYeah.â
Since thatâs the case, she wonât say much more. If he said he would take care of it, heâll take care of it properly.
Nydia sighed inwardly. This man clearly cared for her and was concerned about her, but he always had a cold and impatient demeanor that pushed her away. It was really frustrating.
Suddenly, the car braked hard. Nydia wasnât wearing her seatbelt and wasnât sitting firmly, so she was thrown forward. Jesseâs reflexes were fast, and he pulled her into his arms, but he hit the seat himself and let out a muffled groan.
âSir, maâam, Iâm sorry!â The driver immediately apologized, and an electric bike rode away. If the driver hadnât braked in time, they would have crashed into the bike that suddenly appeared.
âItâs okay.â Jesse said in a low voice.
The car started moving again, but not very quickly.
Nydia raised her head from his embrace, and Jesse looked down, but he froze.
A tear was rolling down Nydiaâs eyes.
His body instantly tensed, and he didnât know where to put his hands, eventually placing them on his lap, fingers curling up.
âDid it hurt just now?â Nydia choked out.
Every time she was in danger, he would rush over, regardless of his own situation. Even if he didnât have any injuries, that bump just now would have hurt him. Not to mention he had so many injuries on his body.
âJust take care of yourself!â Jesse turned his face away, not looking at her eyes again.
