Chapter 5

Jesse stood there stunned, shocked and suspicious.

He pushed Nydia away and his face clouded over, “Nydia! It’s really difficult for you to sacrifice so much for Barclay!”

“What does Barclay have to do with anything?” Nydia stood there dazed.

“I kissed my husband, it’s only natural!”

Husband…

This title was like a heavy hammer that slammed down on Jesse’s heart.

From the time they got married until now, Nydia had never called him that. Now, she would say and do anything to help Barclay!

With these thoughts, Jesse turned around with a cold face and left in his wheelchair.

Nydia was confused.

The next time Nydia saw Jesse was in the evening. The family of four were sitting together for dinner.

Nydia was worried that her sudden warmth would push the two children further away, so she didn’t show much enthusiasm and didn’t even offer to help them with their food.

But the two children occasionally glanced at her, especially Tavish.

His eyes were filled with a bit of inquiry, confusion, and caution. Seeing him like this, Nydia remembered a time in her past life when Tavish was sick and wanted her to hold him, but she pushed him away roughly. He fell to the ground, looking at her with red eyes and asked aggrievedly, “Mommy, why don’t you like me? Am I not obedient enough?”

At that time, she didn’t like him just because he looked almost identical to Jesse, but she forgot that he was also her child, and he was still so young.

“Mommy, what happened to your hand?” Molly suddenly spoke up.

Her mouth was full of food, and her round eyes looked at Nydia’s hand wrapped in gauze.

“I accidentally hurt myself, but it’s okay.” Nydia said with a smile.

“Mommy, be careful!”

“Okay, thank you, Molly.”

Tavish kept his head down and kept picking at his food, his long eyelashes trembling slightly.

Sure enough, Mommy liked Molly and not him.

No, Mommy probably didn’t really like Molly either. The next target she was going to deal with might be Molly. He had to protect Molly and make sure she didn’t hurt her!

Jesse remained silent, occasionally warning Nydia with his eyes not to play tricks.

After dinner, Nydia went back to her room to rest. She had to heal her wounds before she could do anything else.

Although the two children were only four years old, they still had to attend classes every day, such as etiquette classes, enlightenment classes, foreign language classes, and so on, so they didn’t have much time to stay at home.

At eleven o’clock that night, Jesse was in his study.

“Sir, Madame has replaced all the coffee beans in the jar,” the butler reported to Jesse.

“Has the test results come out?”

“The test results are out, and there are indeed toxic substances in the coffee beans.” The butler handed the test report to Jesse.

Jesse’s face was instantly filled with gloom after reading it.

“These toxic substances won’t cause harm in a short period of time, but if consumed for a long time, they can cause heart paralysis and easy sudden death.”

This woman actually wanted to poison him?

“Sir, you need to check your body as soon as possible.”

“Arrange for a private doctor to come to the house for an examination.”
