Elian's POV
I had been asked questions all day today, from different pack members that approached me in the halls, the elders that wanted to find out if there was any way that this was pairing was possible, and of course, the pups of the pack that asked me what my favorite color was and more innocent, fun questions.
"If you could be one mythical being other than the one you are now, what would you be?" Declan asked, his curiosity being shown through his bright eyes.
From the first time I had met him, he surprised me with his blunt attitude. Now, he was happier than the last time I had seen him, since he found out that I was his Luna. He ran up to me with his arms extended, and in return to show the excitement of my feelings, I collected him into my arms and soared through the sky. Afterwards, I had a line of pups and every young, adult werewolf lined up to take a turn. As if I were an amusement park ride.
Perhaps, I should have charged in advance...
I stroked my imaginary beard as I gazed into the sky, acting as if I were thinking pretty hard to answer Declan's question, "I think I would want to be a merman."
All of the pups groaned and sighed as Declan voiced his thoughts, "That was wrong Elian! You were supposed to say werewolf. 'Cause we're the best in the entire world."
Nods and smug smiles in agreement were shown everywhere as I sighed in return and apologized for my wrong answer.
"It's quite alright. We forgive you. So, I guess the Alphas were your mates after all, right?" Declan asked.
I nodded and remembered that I hadn't seen the twins since the welcoming ceremony this morning, "I suppose we are."
"Are you, like, going to be here all of the time now?" He questioned me with hopeful eyes.
I frowned and shook my head, "I'm not exactly sure on that matter, I will have to get back to you on that."
Declan accepted the offer of the information he wanted before dispersing among the crowd of pups. As everyone soon left me to be by myself, I decided to go in search of the twin Alphas. I checked the bedroom, which smelled of sex and was in need of clean sheets. Next, was the backyard where the pups were, just in case the Alphas decided to check up on me as I was looking for them.
Soon enough, I found them near the pack grounds' borders. They wore expressions that represented stress, with their hands running through their hair and Kasey attempting to get back into the bad habit of biting his fingernails.
They immediately were aware of my presence without even seeing me, curse the abnormal scents that they could pick up in less than a heartbeat.
"Hello, young one," Kaspar announces as the other werewolves that once surrounded him and his brother left to give privacy to the Alphas and their Luna.
I softly smiled and he returned the gesture, "Just wanted to check up on you."
"Do you really think we are the ones that need checking up on?" Kasey asked, lightly teasing me.
I rolled my eyes, "Seeing as though you are the mates that are temporarily freaking out due to the stress, I would find it necessary that I check up on you. And not to mention that I am definitely faster than the two of you which allows me to be dominant in some situations..."
The twins scoffed and smiled, "Well then, should we put your speed to the test?"
"Whenever you're ready."
That evening was one of the most free, enjoyable evenings that I have had in a long time. My wings were extended outward, ready to be challenged, and once the Alphas transformed into their forms, my wings were set loose. Whenever I let my wings out, it felt like stretching after sleeping for a long time or being stiff. It felt refreshing and I could never get used to the feeling. The twins' werewolf forms were breathtaking. Both had white fur with streaks of silver and black throughout its body, much like the color of my hair. The only way that I could differentiate between the two were their eyes, the same shades as their human forms.
We'd go wherever the wind took us, and I would be a step ahead. Weaving through trees, pushing myself to be faster and faster for the flight. The werewolves on the ground were surprisingly close to me, as in their distance. I could tell that they were pushing themselves as well, believing in their miniscule minds that there could be a chance of beating me in this race.
Of course, that would never happen in a million years. Soon enough, I saw edge of a cliff and noticed that it was the end of our short lived journey. Ahead of the cliff were mountains, endless with peaks that exceeded over the horizon line. Between the cliff and mountains were clouds. With no clue what was underneath the clouds, my curiosity grew more and more. As I was about to make an impulse decision and go see it for myself, the Alphas caught me before I could go down there.
"Eli, how about we not go down there?" Kasey lightly asked as if I would think that his question would come off as a challenge.
I slightly nodded, distracted by his appearance. Once the Alphas changed back into their human forms, they placed the pairs of shorts that they held in their muzzles on and walked on without a shirt. Their impressive toned abs on display, as if I could ever achieve that kind of perfection.
What I'd do to lick chocolate syrup off of those bodies...
I shook my head, clearing my mind of any dirty thoughts before I had the chance to get turned on at the wrong moment.
I lowered myself down to the ground where Kasey and Kaspar stood with a smug grin.
"What did you say again? Didn't think that I could ever be faster than you, could you? Well, my dear mates, you just got your asses handed to you on a silver platter."
Kaspar fought the smile and Kasey rolled his eyes. They walked over to one of the last trees that were planted near the cliff and sat down below the colored leaves that would fall one by one here and there. It reminded me of the closeness of winter, the cold and bitter season of all. My wings were away where they belong for the time being and I made my way to the twins.
Soon after the little trip, I soon found myself laying down on the ground, content and satisfied with life at the moment. My head was placed in the lap of Kaspar and my lower half of my body was over Kasey, much like the position we held when we were seated on the bench in my grandparents' garden. Soft strokes to my hair made me sigh, loving every minute of it. We talked about everything and anything and then at other times, we'd have comfortable silences, just enjoying each others' company.
"Elian, we're close in the investigation of your parents' murderers. Kasey and I wanted to tell you when it seemed to be the right time. We've been working pretty close with your people, desperate to put this case to rest and move on," Kaspar mentioned as those words soon caught my utmost attention and I sat up slightly, patiently waiting for some answers.
"Well, your parents were such powerful, magical beings. Too powerful to be killed by manslaughter, arrows, bullets, or any other weapon. The only thing that could kill such a good, strong leaders is dark, black magic. Once seeped into the body of a good heart and soul, it spreads until it takes the whole being into the darkness. Consumed with madness, this could happen in minutes or days depending on how skilled the person is," Kasey informed, while I tried to connect the mental dots.
"Okay, care to elaborate a bit more?"
"We believe that it was someone from the Unseelie Court that may have murdered your parents," he added.
I didn't get it...
The Unseelie Court was like the dark side of the realm of the Fae, In contrast to the good deeds that most of the Seelie Court do, the Unseelie Court do the opposite. They create havoc and chaos wherever they go. That still did not mean that they would go as far as killing one of their own. Whatever little respect they had was reserved for their realm and all Fae, they were out for the other supernatural beings. I simply couldn't understand how this was possible. I should possibly meet the head of the Unseelie Court soon, it has definitely been too long.
Once I had explained this to the twins, they shook their heads and stated that this was what they believed in regarding my parents' case. I stood my ground and defended my kind, whether or not it would be from the Seelie or Unseelie Court.
The Alphas finally relented in the attempts to try and believe the words they were saying and left to prepare for other big meetings concerning the pack's well being. I would have tagged along, but I soon had to talk to Nikolai. He knew that this talk, or part two to the previous talk would come sooner or later...
I found him in the garden, picking at flower petals from a flower that he has in his hands, like a little, lovesick puppy. As soon as I cleared my throat, making myself known to him, he jumped up and threw the flower behind him and into the bushes.
He looked flustered at my surprising visit but was still able to regain composure, "Elian, what can I do for you?"
"I'm sending you to Italy," I simply said, not bothering to negotiate with him.
His eyes widened and he started to shake his head, "Elian, with all due respect, I strongly believe that I should stay here. I mean, what business could I possibly have in Italy?"
I tried to come up with an excuse as to why I would need to send him to Italy... Other than the fact that he needs to realize that fate brought him and Ambrogio together. And I guess I kind of pushed them together as well.
"Uh, I'll be visiting soon and I need you to stay there and make sleeping arrangements for the Alphas and I, including other people who plan to join us."
His expression was deadpanned, "I guess I could go and do that for you."
I surprisingly thought that he would retaliate and question my orders, so I smiled and thanked him for his cooperation.
Before I was able to disappear from his line of view, he yelled out to me and I knew that it would be too good to be true for him to just listen.
"Wait, why have I never had to make these arrangements before, when you had other places to travel to? Why now?"
I sighed and just decided to be blunt and honest, "Nikolai, you're smart. Smart enough to know that the reason I am sending you to Italy is because I think that you just need some time with your mate before you make any rash decisions."
He pouted and groaned, "Why can't I make my own decisions? I already know, truly know, that I could never be mates with the vampire."
I scrunched up my nose in distaste to his words, "You never know, and besides, this is an order. I expect you to start packing tonight and be on your way tomorrow morning."
It was his turn to sigh and reluctantly nod. As I flew away from the garden, I felt as though there was something wrong with him, either emotionally or mentally. He didn't seem himself to me in some way, but I couldn't put my finger on it.

Bright and early in the morning, I gave my farewells to Nikolai and decided to go explore the camp grounds a little more by myself.
As I hovered over the fallen leaves and dark green grass, I thought about whether or not I did the right thing for Nikolai. Perhaps since I pushed him in this direction, he'll be more resentful towards Ambrogio and their relationship would not grow in the slightest. Or maybe, well hopefully, this journey and time with his mate will allow him to come to terms with this ordeal and he'll fall in love with Ambrogio over time.
"Elian! Eli! Where are you?!" I heard yells from the other side of the forest coming nearer and nearer.
I walked towards the familiar voices, worried about what they had to say next when I found them. Soon enough, I found Kaspar and Kasey with concerned expressions.
"Eli, I am so sorry," Kasey said as he held me close to his chest.
I kindly removed myself from his embrace, mainly because I was confused as fuck.
"What the hell is happening?"
"Stefan and Zane's pack was attacked, and there is no information provided on whether or not anyone made it," he said.
"Although it may be alarming, I think that Stefan is a strong Alpha and will pull through with his people and his mate by his side. They'll soon seek shelter in our pack any day now," Kaspar mentioned, trying to calm down the erratic nerves that had taken over my body.
This couldn't be happening, I couldn't move, talk, or even respond to my mates to reassure them that I was okay because I wasn't. I wanted to go to Zane, I wanted to make sure that he was alright. And in that moment, I made sure that I wasn't making any skin to skin contact with my mates before going back to the pack that first welcomed me with loving arms and accepted me for my life choices. That pack was a temporary home for me but it felt like I had been there for ages.
The sight before me was disastrous, one that could not be soon forgotten when all was said and done. Blazing fires in the trees, swarming and frightened bodies trying to collect their young ones and escape from the horror. My eyes scouted for Zane, and they soon fell upon the recognizable body of the young, male Alpha.
