Chapter 33
Love Addiction: Doting On My Love
Violet felt even worse. She said nothing and just continued crying.
He gave her a mocking sneer. âYou poisoned their produce and ruined Imperial Palaceâs reputation.
The fruit. farmers couldnât sell their produce anymore. You should have known they would want revenge for that. Theyâre already being nice by only doing this to you.â
âPoisoned?â
Violet stopped crying once she heard what Lucius said. Her mouth fell open. She could not believe that Agatha would do something like this.
âI brought you here today to remind you that you deserve all the punishments, no matter how many of them are rained down upon you.â
He had more to say, but did not. He just looked at the table. Since Violet had only been paying attention to herself, she did not notice that his bowl had been full of gravel as well. He came here once a year to eat food filled with gravel so that he would remember the humiliation and lesson he learned in the past.
âThatâs unfair! Why do I have to suffer the consequences of Agathaâs actions?â Violet clenched her fists and dug her nails into the wound on her palm.
Luciusâs expression turned cold. He glared at her. âDid you really think youâll become someone else after getting a new face via plastic surgery?â The mockery in his voice was incredibly obvious. It was clear that he was laughing at her.
Violet felt her heart clench in pain. She gnashed her teeth. âIâm not Agatha River!â
Luciusâs expression turned even darker and sourer.
But Violet could not be bothered by it. She just ran over to him and hugged him. âPlease give me one last chance to prove that Iâm not Agatha River. If If I still canât prove my true identity, you can do whatever want with me!â
you Lucius ignored her, but she did see someone behind him handing a phone to him. Not even caring whether it could be an important phone call, she snatched the phone, rejected the call, and dialed her fatherâs number before setting the call on speaker mode.
She was sure that if Patrick picked up the phone, he would help her. No matter how bad things were between them, blood was still thicker than water, and he would not turn his back on her.
She heard the dial tone, and her heart leapt to her throat while she prayed that Patrick would be the one to pick up the phone this time.
âHello?â
God did not forsake her. She heard Patrickâs voice.
âDad! Itâs me. Violet!â Violet cried out.
Patrick fell silent.
D âItâs me, Violet,â she repeated while gripping the phone tightly. Due to how worked up she was, her voice quivered, but she stared at Lucius with refusal to give up.
As long as Patrick said something, he would acknowledge her Identity, even if he only yelled at her.
âViolet is dead.â
What?
His answer was completely against her expectations, and Violet was stunned. âDad?â
But Patrick had already hung up.
Violet had been driven to the edge of a cliff, and her fatherâs words were the final nudge that pushed her off the cliff.
She was dead?
The phone fell to the floor, and she wrapped her arms around herself. The weight on her chest was so great that she felt like it was about to cave in, yet her mind was blank.
âWhat other tricks do you want to play?â
Luciusâs soft and cold voice came from above her head.
After a moment, Lucius waved a white sheet of paper in front of her. She only looked up after a long time had passed. Lucius handed the paper to her.
She took it and opened it with trembling hands.
It was a death certificate. It stated that Violet Wickham had died four years ago.
When Violet boarded the helicopter, she was chained up again, and Luciusâs subordinate held the chain like he was walking a dog. Lucius had done this to humiliate Violet.
