Kevin made no attempt to conceal his identity as an illegitimate child.

“So that’s how it is,” Xu Yang feigned a sudden realization, “then what are you doing looking for me? I’ve sent your father to jail, he’s been sentenced to death, and he will soon carry out his sentence. You’re not looking to avenge him, are you?”

Kevin shook his head, “Mr. Xu, please don’t get me wrong, what I’ve said is just basic information, accessible with a little research. After seeing the news about my father, I looked up your information online and learned all this.”

Xu Yang nodded, “Getting back to the original question, why are you looking for me?”

Kevin said, “Our Burton Investment has a branch in Harbor City. China has always been an engine for global economic growth, now and in the future. Burton Investment is very optimistic about China’s development and wants to invest here. We’re eager to cooperate with you, Mr. Xu. I took this opportunity to get to know you and to assert that my father’s affairs will not affect our interactions. I’m very willing to become friends with you.”

Xu Yang laughed, “As long as you don’t mind, I certainly don’t have a problem.”

Kevin said, “I won’t mind, as I mentioned before, my father got what he deserved.”

Xu Yang said, “Well then, I look forward to our future cooperation.”

“I do as well. I won’t trouble you further for now, see you next time.” Kevin stood up to leave.

After Kevin and his assistant left, Wang Xiaocong closed the door and said, “If we didn’t know his background, I almost would have believed him.”

Xu Yang nodded, “Indeed, he hides his emotions well; someone unaware of his background wouldn’t notice anything awry. He truly lives up to being a secret agent of FAI.”

Wang Xiaocong asked, “What’s his purpose in telling you all this?”

Kevin wouldn’t bring it up without a reason; there must be a purpose to his words.

But what that purpose was, he couldn’t guess.

After pondering for a moment, Xu Yang said, “He must be trying to confuse us, fearing that if we notice his arrival, it might be detrimental to us.”

Wang Xiaocong scoffed, “This guy is really good at pretending. He wants to confuse you, then find a chance to kill you—wishful thinking.”

Xu Yang replied, “I’m not afraid of that. What I fear is that he connects with the temporary consulate of the pretty country in Harbor City and does something adverse to Harbor City or to China.”

Wang Xiaocong’s expression turned grave, “If that’s the case, it’s indeed trouble, and not something we can manage.”

Xu Yang sighed, “Exactly, we can’t intervene. Let’s not worry about these things; the relevant departments will handle them. I just need to deal with him if he makes a move against me. I hope he doesn’t do anything foolish.”

The next day.

Kevin had Burton Investment’s Harbor City branch invite the elite of Harbor City to board the Crown cruise ship. He said a cocktail party would be held on the cruise for everyone to socialize and mentioned there was a major project he wanted to discuss with the major families of Harbor City on board.

The time was set for ten o’clock in the morning two days later.

Even Xu Yang and Wang Xiaocong received invitations to board the cruise.

“What exactly is Kevin up to?” Wang Xiaocong felt certain that Kevin surely had some sort of scheme.

But what the scheme was, he couldn’t figure out.

As for the big project, inviting all the major families and tycoons in Harbor City to participate, it just sounded too vague.

“I don’t know, who could guess it, but I found out that after he left the hotel yesterday, he went to the temporary consulate of the Beautiful Country in Harbor City, and didn’t leave until the evening,” Xu Yang said.

“This guy must be conspiring with the FAI on something,” Wang Xiaocong speculated.

“Maybe, but with this kind of thing, you can only know for sure when it actually happens. It’s not just us; even the relevant departments can’t do anything about it,” Xu Yang said, shaking his head.

“With your badass hacking skills, can’t you hack into the temporary consulate’s surveillance?” Wang Xiaocong asked.

“I can hack in, but all I saw were very common things. There were no electronic devices in the room where they talked, not even mobile phones. It’s impossible to know what they were talking about,” Xu Yang replied with a shake of his head.

“These bastards are really cautious in their actions,” Wang Xiaocong cursed through gritted teeth.

“If they weren’t cautious, they probably wouldn’t become FAI agents,” Xu Yang couldn’t help but sigh at the other party’s prudence.

But isn’t this just the way agents operate?

In spy films, isn’t this how the agents conduct themselves?

Films are rooted in reality; Kevin’s behavior is quite normal.

“So, are we going to join in on the fun?” Wang Xiaocong inquired.

Wang Xiaocong replied, “Sure, if I die, I definitely won’t blame you. But I know I won’t die that easily; there are so many internet celebrities I haven’t dated yet.”

Xu Yang turned away, speechless and rolling his eyes.

At a time like this, Wang Xiaocong’s thoughts were actually on internet celebrities.

Just then, Xu Yang’s phone rang. It was a call from Song Qingya.

After picking up the phone, he heard Song Qingya say, “Xu Yang, are you planning to leave Harbor City?”@@novelbin@@

She thought Xu Yang was going to leave Harbor City since he had told Wang Xiaocong he would be busy for the next few days.

Xu Yang replied, “No, I’m planning to wait until you’re finished with your stuff before leaving. Then we can go to your city together.”

“That’s great,” Song Qingya said. “Today, I received an invitation from the Harbor City branch of Burton Investment of the Beautiful Country. They mentioned a big project they want to discuss with all the major families and tycoons in Harbor City. My family wants me to take a look; why don’t you guys come along and have some fun too?”

Xu Yang laughed, “I received one too. Wang Xiaocong and I have already decided to go and have some fun. I was actually about to ask him to call you to see if anyone from your family was going.”

Song Qingya replied excitedly, “That’s wonderful, then we can all board the boat together when the time comes.”

Xu Yang nodded and said, “Okay.”
