Chapter 4

From a Vampire's Brother to a Human's Mate (Book 2: Completed)

Anthony’s POV

My heart was racing, my wolf growling, my head pounding. My whole body was alive. I had never been so turned on in my life.

‘Go after her’ my wolf growled.

I stepped towards the door and then stopped myself.

“I can’t!” I growled back fighting.

Worthless. She said she was worthless. Who in their right made her think of herself so lowly?

Worthless. I scoffed at the idea that simple girl meant the world to me and she thought she was worthless!

I took a few deep breaths trying to calm myself down. I leaned against the wall and slid to the floor putting my head in my heads to hold myself together.

My head was pounding heavily because my wolf would not stop growling at me demanding my attention.

I needed to calm down and hold myself together.

“Tony? I heard the voice but I focused on my breathing.

“Tony, what are you doing on the ground?” Suddenly the voice broke through and not just the words.

“June?” I looked up at my baby cousin confused.

In all actuality the blonde, blue eyed beauty leaning over me was not a baby. She was only a year younger than me and her brother Travis. Like all werewolves she was exceptionally beautiful.

“What are you doing out of the pack house?” I instantly got protective. Flavia, though my cousin, was one of my pack’s females and female wolves, especially high ranking like Betas or Alphas, were a prize possession and rare. This was because when hunters came to attack packs they went for the females and killed and raped them in order to stop the reproduction process.

June was an exceptionally beautiful Beta and we did not take that lightly.

“Come on, Tony,” She complained.

“Running around, unmated, unprotected like you do . . . You know how unsafe it is,” I growled.

“Travis,” She sighed, “He called me. Said something was bothering you . . . so automatically . . .” She sat down next to me.

“I’m fine,” I growled looking away from her.

“Come on, Tony . . . you know you can tell me,” She placed a hand on my shoulder.

“I found my mate, but she’s human and she doesn’t know . . . I she has a boyfriend, but I don’t think she likes him. I think something is actually going on between them. I can’t get in the middle of it, though, without seeming like a fucking stalker, but she might be in danger and I can’t help myself. She thinks she’s worthless, June. . . who tells someone that they are worthless?” I looked to her helplessly.

“Wow,” She breathed.

“Yeah,” I sighed.

“Well, why don’t you just get close to her without getting in the middle of it?” She suggested.

“How? How can I possibly do that? Watching her kiss another guy is not exactly easy. He is taking what is mine and I want her,” I growled.

“Become her friend . . . get her to trust you and the mating will come with time,” She said seriously.

“You sound like my mother,” I scoffed.

“That is because she is a very smart woman,” She smiled. “Now get up, pull yourself together and go to class. You’re a school boy now, remember?” She teased getting up.

“June, I can’t . . .”

“Shut up, you are going to class even if I have to walk you there myself,” She growled cutting me off.

“Fine,” I grumbled standing.

“I’ll see you at home tonight,” She stood on her tip toes, kissed my cheek and then she was gone.

I sighed and walked out of the weight room and towards my next hour which I guessed to be third.

“So did Juneget to you?” Travis walked up beside me.

“Yes,” I breathed.

“Are you doing okay? I mean . . . you have been weird since you attacked me yesterday morning,” He pointed out.

“I have had a lot on my mind and coming to school really isn’t helping. I am just trying to straighten everything out. Sorry if I freaked you out,” I said not meeting his eyes.

“Well, I am just glad you didn’t break my neck. It was damn close,” he rubbed the back of his neck.

“Yeah, sorry about that,” I looked at him.

“I’m fine. Clearly, just worried about you, Cous,” He smirked.

“I’m good,”

“Hey, Travis,” The red head that was with Dawn yesterday appeared in front of us, smiling.

“Hey, Julie,” He smirked at her.

“There’s gonna be a party at Dawn’s tonight. Ian is throwing it and I was just wandering if you would like to go,” She smiled up at him.

“Why not? What do you think, Tony?” He looked to me.

All I needed to hear was Dawn. “Yeah, sure,” I replied easily.

“Okay, here’s the address,” She grabbed Travis’s and that’s when I saw it.

It was the littlest reaction. Goosebumps spread from their hands up each other’s arms Julia sucked in the smallest puff of air, her lips only parting slightly, her blue-gray eyes suddenly had a light to them as Travis’s eyes flashed and became his wolf’s and then it was all over. That happened in a matter of seconds, but I caught it because I knew what that felt like.

“Umm . . . sorry. Here’s the address. She quickly wrote something on his hand and then let go. “I guess I’ll see you at 6,” She smiled slightly dazed and then hurried down the hallway.

“What the . . .” Travis was also dazed.

I laughed and slapped his back.

He shook his head and looked at me confused.

“Did I just . . .

“Yes, yes you did,” I smirked. “So . . . that party tonight . . .”

Dawn’s POV

“Do you really think it is a good idea to throw a party while my mom is out of town?” I asked as Ian’s nearly identical older brother set out the beer and other alcohol in the kitchen.

“I would not be the one to ask for moral advice,” He smirked over his shoulder at me. “I just bought tons of alcohol for underage kids and I feel no remorse.”

“Did Ian give you enough money for all of that?” I asked skeptically.

“Yeah, we’re all good,” He nodded and turned to face me. “How are you doing?” He asked seriously.

I looked over my shoulder towards the living room where Ian was messing around with some of his buddies who were already here.

“I’m fine,” I breathed looking down at my hands that rested on the island.

“Are you sure?” he said seriously, placing his hands over mine.

“Jacob, just  . . . stop. You’ll get me in trouble,” I sighed looking away from him.

“I know what he does to you,” He countered.

“No you don’t,” I snapped. “You know nothing. Stop prying and leave me and Ian the hell alone,” I pulled my hands away from him and stood from the stool.

“What’s going on in here?” Ian walked in painfully wrapping an arm around me tightly.

“None of your business, Ian,” Jacob growled dangerously.

“Get the fuck out of here. You got your money, now go,” Ian snapped.

“Fine, whatever,” He glared at his brother and then he turned to me, “If you need anything . . .”I turned away from his meaningful gaze, “You can call me,” He breathed.

“Back off,” Ian squeezed his arm around me.

“Yeah,” He scoffed and then walked out the door.

I flinched when I heard the front door slam.

Ian turned his glare on me and my heart stopped then picked up double time.

“What was that all about?” He demanded.

“I don’t know . . . he was just asking me questions about . . .” I hesitated.

“About what?” He growled.

“About us . . . I just brushed him off. He didn’t mean anything by it,” I sighed.

“Whatever,” He growled releasing me.

“Ian, get back out here!” Someone called laughing.

“Go upstairs and get changed into the dress I bought you,” He growled.

“Okay,” I nodded and then turned for the stairs.

I hurried upstairs and locked myself in my room. I refused to cry as I got into the shower and soaked under the hot water.

I would not allow him to control me anymore. I knew crying only made me weak. I needed to stay strong otherwise I would lose myself and I can’t lose not now. Not when I had something to look forward to. Not when I just met Tony.

I got out of the shower and blow dried my hair and then curled it. As it was cooling off I did my make-up the light black and white eye shadow and pink lip gloss was simple.

I then finished my hair by ratting it and pulling it back into a half-up do that left my bangs hanging over my forehead.  Last I slipped into the tight white cocktail dress that had jewels cut in on one side. I slipped on the plain black heels that I picked out.

I took one last quick look in the mirror and realized that lucky the short, tight dress and covered all the bruises.

I sighed and took a deep breath forcing a smile on my face.

I can do this. I nodded to my reflection.

With that I walked downstairs and to the now full and loud house. The music was pumping the teens were laughing and grinding and drinking. I looked over the crowd as I made my way down the stairs.

As I was scanning I suddenly got trapped in the deepest, beautiful green eyes and my body completely froze.
