Chapter 33

From a Vampire's Brother to a Human's Mate (Book 2: Completed)

Tony’s POV

As soon as Dawn fell asleep I laid her down on the bed and tucked her in. I went out into the hallway to find Travis so I could check on Julie.

He was coming up the stairs as I was walking out of my room.

“Hey, Travis,” I got his attention.

“What up?” He asked, walking up to me.

“Is Julie alright? I didn’t mean to snap at her earlier. It’s just . . .”

“No, I completely understand. She was out of line snapping at you and Dawn like that,” Travis shook his head.

“Yeah, but I understand where she is coming from. Dawn isn’t safe in this world, but I feel like I just got her to really be comfortable with me and now with this . . . I just want things to get to normal. I mean for us of course. I want Dawn to know what normal for us is,” I complained. “I am making no sense.”

“No, you are making perfect sense, but these are the difficulties of having a human mate. Don’t worry. You are a strong Alpha and she will be strong for you. Dude, your mom had not only two mates, but one of them was a vampire. I think your family is just cursed with having difficult mates. And then there is whatever is going on with Felix and Hannah. Like really?” He scoffed.

“Just consider yourself lucky,” I laughed.

“I do,” He smiled and looked down the hallway.

Julie’s head popped out of their door. “Travis, what are you doing?” She asked stepping out into the hallway. “Oh, Tony. I just wanted to apologize,” She stepped towards us, but I raised my hand to her.

“You’re fine. I wanted to apologize to you. I understand where you were coming from,”  I nodded my head, “I should be the one apologizing for snapping at you like that.”

“No, I know why you did it. I didn’t think before I spoke. I understand now what that must have seemed like to you, but I was really just worrying for her,” She explained.

“Like I said, I understand. Don’t worry about it. Go, get some sleep.” I nodded to both of them.

Travis led Julia through the door and closed it behind them.

I let out a deep breath and looked to my door where Dawn was sleeping behind. And then I heard someone stomping up the stairs and I turned and look to the stairs again.

“Oh, hey Tony,” Hannah bit out.

“What is going on?” I looked to her angry yet tired face.

“You’re brother won’t listen to me , won’t talk to me, won’t even look at me!” She snapped. “He is acting like a complete child! It’s like suddenly because I am a witch he doesn’t want me anymore.” That was when I saw the tears in her eyes. “Ugh!” He looked away frustrated and wiped at her eyes, then covered her face.

“That’s not it, Hannah,” I sighed. “Hey look at me,” I pulled at her wrists gentle until she let them drop from her face. “I have never seen my brother care for someone the way her cares for you. He never lets a girl boss him around or hang around him for as long as he has with you. You mean something to him and that is why he has become so childish and most of all I think he is hurt. He believes that you don’t trust him because you weren’t able to tell him about you when he told you about him. That took a lot from him.” I explained.

“You know this is all your fault,” She sighed. “You and your alpha senses you just had to figure out that I am a witch, didn’t you? I was just trying to help you and you . . . you ruined everything!” She snapped and I pulled her into a hug.

“Yeah, I’m sorry about that. You know I can talk to him for you. Make him pull himself together so that he can get his head straight and realize what a huge mistake he is making.” I rubbed her back.

“I don’t need you to solve my problems,” She pulled away from me.

“I am not trying to say that you need my help. I am just saying that maybe my stubborn brother can use a kick in the ass to get his head straight once in a while. Let me just talk to him,” I explained.

“Fine,” She sighed and continued to stomp off down the hall.

I sighed and walked down the stairs to go find him. He wasn’t in the house. I could tell because his scent was too weak so I continues straight out the back door. I follow his scent through the woods moving slow and choosing not to shift. I needed to think about what I was going to talk to Felix about.

I didn’t mean to affect their relationship. I was too focused on my own. I realized I had been so selfish these last weeks because I was so confused about myself, but know that everything I was calming down I needed to fix things I had broken.  Travis has seem to forgiven me for all I had done to him and now I need to focus on Felix and make sure everything thing with him is okay.

I was so lost in my thought that I realized I hadn’t been paying attention so I didn’t notice where I was at until the smell hit my nose and I stopped dead. I was in the vampire territory and I could see just in front of me through the trees was the mansion in which the vampires lived.

I hadn’t planned on showing up here, but it made sense that this is where Felix would go if he wanted to get away.

I slowly walked forward on high alert trying not to raise alarm, but ready to protect myself if I did.

Just as I got to the edge of the stairs when the door burst open and a bulky vampire burst through the door and came charging at me.

I stepped back and tensed up, ready for his attack.

“You stupid, little pup. You are a little outside of your territory here,” He hissed. “I suggest you turn back.” He glared as stomped towards me.

“I am here to see my brother,” I growled back. “I am not turning back.”

“Ha! You have no brother here, you damn mutt!” He snapped back.

“You can’t tell who is and who is not my brother. You don’t even know me!” I snapped back, my temper was getting the best of me as he stop just in front of me toe to toe ready to attack if I didn’t step down.

“James, enough!” A blonde hissed as she burst through the door to the top of the steps.

The bulky vampire turned to her and scoffed, “Always protecting the mutts. You and Marcus ruined this coven. There is a reason we are not tolerant of these things,” He pointed at me.

That set me off somehow, “Get that hand out of my face,” I slapped his hand away.

“You son of a bitch!” He snapped and turned on me.

Before I could even react the blonde was in between us holding him back. “I am older and strong, James, don’t push me! This is Kendra’s son. And that means he was Marcus’s family and Felix’s family. Now if you don’t want to follow this coven’s leader you are damn well welcome to leave it. Now calm down!” She shoved him back.

“Come on, Anthony,” She looked to me and then started walking up the steps. I paused for only a moment and then followed her up.

“How do you know who I am?” I asked.

“I know your mother. I helped deliver you and I am the one who raise Felix when he stayed here,” She explained as she walked me through the house.

“You seem to be okay with wolves. Why is that?” I looked around the big open house.

She smiled back at me. “I was in love with your uncle’s best friend, Alex, who was obviously a wolf. You uncle wasn’t too approving of vampires,” She shook her head.

“What happened?”

“Well, what usually happens? He found his mate and moved on and I was left here,” She shrugged. “Its not nearly close to what your mother went through, but it hurt.” She after we climbed more stairs we stopped in front of a large wooden door. “This is Felix’s room. Warning though . . . he won’t even talk to me,” She sighed and walked away.

I felt shocked and less prepared to face Felix than before. So vampires and werewolves used to coexist. What happened?

I shook my head and pushed through Felix’s door and marched right in.

I was shocked to see him shirtless and sitting on the edge of his bed with his head in his hand.

“What the hell are you doing here,” He growled sounding pissed.

“I am here because you are being a serious ass to Hannah,” I snapped at him.

“I am being an ass to her? Do you even know what she did to me?” He looked up to me.

“What do you mean? It’s not like she kept from just you. This isn’t about you!” I nearly yelled.

“Shut the hell up, Tony. You know nothing!” He stood and walked over to the balcony.

“Then talk to me,” I breathed.

“I told her.” He sighed. “I told her everything. I sat her down, scared to death and told her all my secrets because I trusted her. I believed she was the one. And she sat there . . .” He turned back and faced me. “She sat there and took it all with grace,” He laughed. “She lied through her teeth and acted like everything was all right.” He stepped away from the balcony towards me. “I thought she was understand, but no I find out it is because she is a lying bitch and she already knew everything!” He tossed the chair in front of him and he broke into pieces against the wall.

My eyes flinched and then I looked to him as he fell to the bed again his head in his hands.

“She didn’t mean to hurt you. I know what it is like taking that step. What if she just didn’t want to make you seem weak? If you revealed your huge secret and she just brushed if off saying she already knew then you would still be upset. And just because you decided to trust her does not automatically mean she has to be ready to trust you. Now grow up! I know you hurt, but she’s hurt too. Don’t let this get in the way of a relationship where you finally found someone you really care about.” He didn’t look up at me. I sighed and moved to sit on the bed next to him.

“Tony, just go away,” He sighed shaking his head.

“I am not leaving you like this. I need you. I need you to be the strong brother you have always been, the one I look up to so I know what to do. Don’t give up on me know. This is something good that’s finally happened to you. Just let it happen,” I pleaded.

“She doesn’t want me anymore,” He shook his head.

“Are you kidding me? She is just as stubborn as you. She is not giving up on this,” I laughed. “Just come back with me. Tell her you lover her because I know you do.”

“I can’t . . .”

“Yes you can. Get dressed,” I stood up.

“You know you’re an ass,” He laughed shaking his head.

“I know, but this ass is your brother,” I smiled, “Now let’s go.” I grabbed a shirt and threw it at him.

“Fine. We got a big fight tomorrow anyway. You know I am not going to miss out on that,” He smirked throwing his shirt on.

“Now, there’s the Felix I know!”

“Shut up,” He rolled his eyes and we walked out together.
