Chapter 31
From a Vampire's Brother to a Human's Mate (Book 2: Completed)
Tony's POV
She laid curled up on my chest playing with the collar of my shirt.
My heart was still racing and I knew she could hear it with her ear on my chest. I had never felt happier in my life. I had a mate, well not completely, but that didn't matter to me. She had accepted me and that was all that matter.
"Tony," Dawn giggled. "You can relax now."
"I know, but it's hard. You just gave me the best news of my entire life. It will take me a little while to get over that," I kissed the top of my head.
"The idea of being with you forever . . ." She left of a deep breath. "I don't know it makes me feel like nothing else matters anymore. Not Ian or what he did to me or the worries that life bring," She looked up and met my eyes. "Just you and me. I like that," She smiled easily.
"So do I," I sighed I leaned into her and pressed my lips to hers.
She grabbed my shirt with her god hand and pulled me as she rolled onto her back so that I was on top of her.
I instantly pulled away, "Careful," I breathed making sure to put none of my weight on her.
"I am fine," She sighed and rolled my eyes. "You don't have to worry about me. I know you will never hurt me."
"I am not so sure. I haven't told you everything about werewolves. We can be very unpredictable . . . especially when you get me excited like this. I don't want to put you at risk while you haven't even healed yet," I shook my head.
"We will take it easy," Her hand went to my cheek and her fingers played with my hair.
"If your arm or leg even feels swore you tell me and I will get the doctor," I breathed looking her straight in the eye.
"Okay," she rolled her eyes and pulled my hair so my lips met hers again.
I easily kissed her back, but it wasn't like our kisses in the past. It wasn't raw physical passion at all, but the emotion that was behind it made it a whole new level of hot.
He hands stuck in my hair and my hands were on either side of her supporting my weight and that was alright. It was comfortable and warming. My wolf was giving me this moment with my mate. He understood why we couldn't take her yet and he was happy with the fact that she finally knew and that claiming her would come soon after. I was at a very comfortable moment in my life and this made me and Dawn happy.
I rolled over and wrapped my arms around her waist holding her to my chest.
She smiled against my lips and pulled away.
"This is nice. Relaxing," She breathed watching my face as if memorizing it's every detail.
"Yeah, my thoughts exactly," I agreed memorizing her face as well.
"So," She pulled her arms back so that she was resting her arms on my chest and her chin on her arms. "What happened between Felix and Hannah while I was out?" She asked.
"Well, we didn't know about Hannah. At all. We thought she was human like you, but the night of the dance when we found you I completely lost myself to my wolf. As an Alpha when my wolf takes over my body it's a struggle for even me to get back to myself. If anyone else tried to get me back I could easily kill them. Hannah, though," I sighed and folded my arms behind my head, "Hannah stepped right in and calmed me right down and got me in control of myself. Right then I knew something was up with her. Felix and I confronted her and she admitted she was a witch. Now when Felix admitted to Hannah that he was a vampire it was a big deal for him. That is a huge part of his life that he trust Hannah to keep secret. By telling her he showed her just how much he trusted her. That would have been the opportune time for Hannah to admit that she was a witch to show that she also trust Felix, but she didn't. Now Felix thinks that Hannah doesn't trust him and I think he is rethinking the trust he placed with her," I explained.
"Wow, Felix really cares," She stated shocked.
I laughed, "Well, yeah. Felix wouldn't show a girl any attention if he didn't care. I have never actually seen him go after a girl. He is way too used to girls going after him. He usually doesn't have to put much work into it."
"I hope they work it out," She breathed looking away from my eyes.
"Hey," I called her attention back to me with a smile, "If we could work through our problems, I am sure they can work through theirs."
"Yeah, good point," She leaned in and pressed her lips to mine again. I wrapped my arms back around her.
"Tony," There was a knock on my door.
Dawn rolled off of me and I sat up, "Come in, Travis."
"Sorry but there is some serious that needs to be addressed downstairs," His eyes shot to Dawn and then back to me
Dawn looked to me worried, "I'll come . . ."
"No," I stood from the bed, "Get Hannah and Julie back in here to keep her company," I told Travis," He nodded and walked back out.
"Nothing will happen to me while I am here. Why can't I just come see what is wrong?" She looked at me seriously.
"You shouldn't be walking on your ankle and I don't want to throw you into the werewolf world like this. A meeting with my dad and the warriors can be intense. Julie will be here you can ask her any questions you need or want to know," I replied.
"I can handle it," She crossed her arms over her chest.
"That's my girl. Stubborn as ever," I rolled my eyes. "Don't worry, when the time comes you will be involve with all of this. Just not yet," I explained.
"Whatever," She looked to the door as Julie and Hannah walked in.
"Thank you," I nodded to them and then I walked out and meet Travis.
"What is going on?" I asked as we headed down the stairs.
"Ian, he is back up and moving. And coming straight for Dawn, but we have some shocking news," Travis replied quickly.
"What now?" I growled.
"He's a hunter," My dad replied as we entered the conference room.
That news and the fact that the room was filled with the pacts strongest warriors headed by my dad and Uncle Ro shocked my silent.
"What happened?" I looked straight to my dad as I moved to stand by his side.
"He sent a threat to our home," Dad slid the paper over to me. "Turns out Dawn had gotten herself wrapped up in this world before she ever met you, Son," He sighed.
"Who is he?" I scanned the paper in front of me but the words didn't really register.
"He is the son of the Hunter who led the attack on us on the day you were born. I tore him to shreds the moment after he stabbed a stake through Felix's dad's heart. His wife went into labor a day later. Apparently she was already in critical condition because of how bad he beat her."
"Like father like son," Uncle Ro spat.
"He wants pay back for Dawn and his father," Dad stated.
"That makes this my fight. It sounds like he is making it personal so he is not going to bring his family into it. Neither will I," I met eyes with every man in the room.
"He has a brother that will fight by his side," My dad disagreed.
"I have Travis," I looked to him.
"As always," He nodded.
"Son,"
"Dad, I appreciate your help and I am glad all of you are willing to accept my mate, but I do not want to put unnecessary lives at risk. This is between Ian and I. This is about Dawn and that makes this my fight," I cut him off.
"This is also about his father . . . whom I killed. That makes it my fight," He shot back.
"And a fight that is my Alpha's is a fight that is my own," My Uncle Ro nodded to dad.
"And mine," Chorused throughout the room.
"You have to learn that as an Alpha you have wolves who will have your back . . . no matter if you want it or not," He smiled.
"And one vampire . . . well at least one," Felix smirked leaning against the door way.
"Okay, here is the plan. Travis and I will go and no one else. You all and whoever else wishes to follow will stay a little behind and out of sight. You will not dhow yourselves unless he makes some kind of move to bring out more men. I would like to keep this as small of a fight as possible," I explained.
"Where do you plan to go through with this?" Dad asked.
"There is an open field just outside his land. If I go to him there, he will have no reason to come and the people here will be safe, but still I want men to stay behind in case anything gets out of hand. Felix that is where I want vampires, back here with the people," I replied easily.
Felix nodded in understanding.
"It sounds like you were expecting this, son," Dad turned to me.
"Yeah, I beat him pretty bad, so I knew he would come at me," I sighed.
"Well, you heard my son. We will prepare to attack tomorrow. We do not want to risk the chance that he will come at us first by wasting time," Dad announced.
His men nodded and then all filed out.
"So you told her," Dad smiled to me.
"Yes," I smiked back.
"I told you so," He patted my shoulder. "Human, Werewolf, or Vampire, it doesnt matter. No one can resist a mate bond."
"I'm glad you were right. I don't think I could have lived without her," I smiled up at him
