Chapter 20

From a Vampire's Brother to a Human's Mate (Book 2: Completed)

Tony’s POV

“I should get some rest so that I am not dead from the dance tomorrow,” Dawn panted when I broke our kiss that was now getting quiet heated.

“Mhmm,” I mumbled as my lips trailed along her neck.

“What time is it?” She said still breathless.

“Who cares?” I complained.

“It’s dark out? When did it get dark? How long have we been up here?” She asked get her breath back easily.

“I don’t know,” I slipped my hand under her shirt.

“Tony, stop that tickles!” She giggled trying to push my hand away.

“Oh really?” I smirked trailing my fingers along her side.

“Stop it!” She laughed struggling against me.

I held her tight to me and continued to tickle her.

“Tony!” She nearly screamed.

Then there was a knock at the door.

“Yes, come in,” I pulled away from Dawn laughed.

“Jerk,” She huffed as she fixed her shirt and tried to stop smiling.

“You’re needed downstairs,” Felix said as he opened the door.

I looked into his eyes and knew instantly he was talking about Lupa.

“Can’t it wait until morning?” I sighed.

“No, now,” Felix nodded over his shoulder.

“No, go. I really do need to get some sleep,” Dawn smiled at me.

“Okay,” I breathed and then kissed her forehead. I got off the bed and walked towards Felix. Halfway out the door I stopped and turned back to her.

“T-shirts are In the top drawer of the tall dresser and sweatpants are in the closet,” I explained.

“Okay, thank you,” She smiled and got off the bed.

“Good night,” I smiled at her.

“Night,” she gave a quick wave and I stepped out closing the door behind me.

“Really?” Felix raised an eyebrow at me leaning against the railing at the top of that stairs.

I ignored him and started walking down.

“What does she want now?” I asked as he followed.

“You as always, but just for now? She wants to go on a run.

“I will not going on a run with her. I don’t like it when she is in my head. It’s too awkward for me and I won’t have it,” I grumbled.

“Well, take it up with her. She is out in the back by the cliff,” Felix explained and then veered off towards the kitchen as I continued outside.

I silently walked up to the cliff slide where she sat staring up at the waning moon.

“You were with her?” She asked as I sat down beside her.

“Where else would I have been?” I asked.

“With your father running the pack like a true Alpha,” She replied in an uppity tone.

I rolled my eyes at her attitude. “My father is too worried about my mother to be worried about the pack. Plus there is no reason to be worried about the pack. These are peaceful times. We haven’t had any trouble since we allied with the Vampires and defeated the Hunters,” I explained.

“A pack must always be ready for war,” She turned back to me.

“Are you trying to foretell something bad happening to my pack?” I raised an eyebrow at her.

“Of course not,” She laughed. “I would never wish that in anyway. I am just simply warning you that you should not waste your time with a petty human,” She slightly glared at me.

“When I am with her I am not wasting my time. When I am with her I can actually breath. When I am away it is them my lungs are collapsing and my world is turning dull and gray,” I looked up to the moon.

“I can liven it up for you, Anthony,” She placed her hand on my arm.

The bare contact sent a shock through me and I shivered. “I’ve told you already. No.” I growled.

“Yet you leave her side when I summon you,” She raised an eyebrow at me.

“I did not now it was you,” I lied.

“Liar,” She laughed.

“Does not matter. I was just as quickly leave you if she needed me,” I stated not facing her.

“I am sure you will,” She sighed annoyed.

“Of course I will. She is my mate. Not you . . . you can never be what she is to me,” I finally turned and glared at her.

“And yet at that same time she could never be what I am to you,” Lupa smirked and brushed her hand against my arm again.

“And what is that?” I asked unconvinced.

“The ultimate pleasure,” She leaned in and whispered to me with a smirk.

“Not exactly,” I pulled away and stood.

“Please, do not leave, Anthony. I called you out here for a reason,” She sighed in a slight apologetic tone.

“And what was that?” I turned  back to her only slight interested .

“I needed to talk with you, and you just ignore me like I am some kind of disease,” She sighed standing.

“That’s because you are. You infect my brain with thoughts of being with you and I won’t have it anymore.” I turned away.

“Tony, just listen for God’s sake. I am not trying to ruin your life. I know what is feels like to have every last little thing taken away from you and I know how unfair life can be. You seem to somehow forget that I lost everything. My whole family is dead. I am the last of my kind. I just want to explain myself to you. I want to tell you my story so that you can understand why I must do what I am asking of you.” She stated with much emotion in her voice.

I wanted to turn away from her. I didn’t want to hear her story. I didn’t want to be convinced that she had a reason behind her ruining my life.

“You better not be wasting my time here. I am supposed to be with Dawn,” I growled turning back to her.

“Fine, I promise you. Now can we please just sit? My past isn’t exactly happy and I don’t like reliving it so if you wouldn’t mind,” She sat down on the edge of the cliff again.

I hesitated for only a moment and then I sat down beside her, “Okay then, go ahead and tell.”

“I would appreciate it if you did not have such a damn attitude, Anthony,” She snapped.

“Fine,” I breathed shaking my head.

“Okay, well it all started when I turned 18 years old. In that time you were supposed to find your mate at 16 and have your first child by the age of 18. I was an Alpha’s daughter and only child. My mother, my father’s mate, had died giving birth to me. It was up to me to find my mate and have a son to continue the Alpha line.  My whole pack was worried because I was 18 and had not yet found my mate. At this point my father was bringing in every pack that could travel the distance to our tribe and was testing me against every unmated alpha,” She didn’t look at me while she told me this she just looked out over the water.

“Only Alphas? What if you were mated to a Beta or maybe even just an Omega?” I asked raising an eyebrow at her.

She scoffed. “Luna never used to work in that way. Alphas were mated to Alphas and Betas to Betas. We weren’t just mated for the comfort of it. We were mated so as to create a suitable air. I needed an Alpha heir not some mutt,” She glared at me as if it should have been obvious.

I looked at her slightly disgusted with her attitude.

She rolled her eyes. “Then again you would never understand. You mother is a Beta and your Father is an Alpha yet the created two perfectly suitable heirs,” She sighed. She then looked back to me. “You do understand that was a completely different situation. Though your mother’s father was a Beta, your mother was born from Luna herself instantly making her pure blood and an Alpha. Just as you are. Just slightly less pure blood because of your father, but you’re the purest out there.” She looked away again. “Anyway, Alphas and their closest guards were coming and going from our village. There would be a few incidents when two Alphas would run into each other and they would fight even if neither had a claim on me. That’s how much I was sought after in my time. Then finally he showed.” She smiled and I could tell she was lost in past events, in a place in her mind that was strictly ruled by her memories.

I was in no place to interrupt her now and I really didn’t want to. I was caught up in her story too.

“He arrived with his whole pack. Lycaon. He was the most powerful Alpha I had met . . . be sides my father. He just plain radiated confidence and I was instantly drawn to him. He put off claiming me and I couldn’t understand why, but it had turned out that he brought with him not only his pack but also an enemy. His pack had been attacked by a band of humans that called themselves hunters at that time we were unfamiliar with the term and did not know what it meant. Lycaon informed us that they were armed with a poisonous metal that shone like the moon and they were extremely dangerous.” She sighed and her head lowered and she now watch her feet.

“You mean silver? You didn’t know about silver?” I asked shocked.

“No, of course we didn’t!” She glared up at me. “We had never been attacked before nothing bothered us in our villages. Most some pups didn’t even know there was another species of beings besides the wolves. We were all we knew and there was nothing we had to worry about. But suddenly they discovered us and  . . . well you know the human race what they don’t know scares them and is ultimately labeled as evil. We had never attacked them before, we feed off that land just as they did and we spent most of our time in our human forms and yet they still saw us as a threat.” She shook her head and looked back out at the water.

“What happened?” I asked to carry on the story.

“We fought them off . . . that time. We regained control of our lands and Lycaon marked me. We had a son months after the marking and all was right in the village. My father stepped down as Alpha and Lycaon took his place. My son, Faelan, was healthy and I had another child on the way by the time of the next attack.” She let out a deep breath closing her eyes.

“Lupa?”

“No, I am going to get this out.” Her eyes stayed closed. “There was no way we could know they would attack,” She let out a shaky breath. “There had been peace for so long. We went back to not even noticing each other’s existence and then suddenly they were on us with no warning. Hundreds of them completely surrounding us Lycaon told me to grab Faelan and run. I was more scared then I had been my entire life. I refused to leave his side. I would not die separated from one and only true love, but he refused to believe I would die. So I listened to him, I didn’t very much have a choice. But I grabbed my son and ran as fast and as hard as I could. The worst of it was I couldn’t shift. Not while I was pregnant it wasn’t possible for a female wolf to shift while pregnant. Either way I ran. I held tight to my son and I ran for our lives, but it didn’t matter.

“They really did have us surrounded. Just as I go to the edge of our land two men jumped me from behind the trees. There was no way I could fight them. With a three month old in my arms and a child growing inside me I was entirely defenseless, but I did struggle. I fought against them with all I had in me just wanting to protect my child, but there was nothing I could do. I was thrown to the ground and my child ripped from my arms. I don’t even know what happened to my baby,” I watched as tears fell from her eyes as she stopped in her story.

“You don’t . . .”

“Either way, I had no chance to look for him. I had a silver stake rammed into my stomach and was left to die, but I didn’t. I should have and I didn’t. I was so close to death that I wished for it to come, but just in time they showed up,” She growled.

“Who?” I asked shocked at the sudden turn in her tone.

“The vampires,” She growled. “At the time we were friendly. I mean we dealt with each other, but the wolves did not like that the vampires didn’t age. It was eerie and unnatural. Either way this was when we really began to hate each other. The salvaged us. Three unmated warriors and me. That was it. There were hundreds of us and we were all that were saved. But in order to save us they had to feed us their blood. They had to heal us to the extreme and vampire blood is not meant to be in a werewolf’s veins. This is why I have not aged. Neither have the three men that were saved with me and this is also the reason why their heirs have a slowed aging rate.

“We were so angered with them because they did not come to help us before we were attacked. How could they just leave us to be slaughtered like animals?” She growled. “We removed ourselves from them and moved on. We traveled for years trying to find surviving wolves but there were none. Hunters had attacked and continued to attack all over the world. Eventually we gave up. I had a child with each of them, but then we agree that there was no way we could continue our race with just us. So we mingled. We created mutts, mating with humans. Well, I never mated with a human. I refused to mate with anyone other than those first three, because that was not how I want our race to continue.  I was sickened  by them for giving in to the humans and eventually they paid the price for that fact. The Hunters came back. They found them and killed them and now here I am. I’ve lost everything, Anthony. And all I have looked for in my never ending miserable life is any sign of pure blood life. All I wanted was to try and create a pure blood line that the wolves can follow. A line a pure Alpha’s that any wolf can look to . . . to follow in their time of need. Your mother and father have already taken that role and now . . . now there’s you. You are second generation straight from Luna. You are the closest I am ever going to get to a pure blood.” She finished looking me in the eye.

I could see she was nearly begging me to understand, and sadly I did. I completely understood where she was coming from, but there was a new piece of information I picked out from her deal.

“I understand where you are coming from. I am sorry for how rude I have been towards you and I wish I could take it back, but that does not change who I am. I love Dawn and I don’t see why just because you lost your mate that I have to turn away from mine,” I looked away from her sorry for my selfish reply.

She sighed. “Anthony, I am not asking you to turn away from her. I want you two to be together. I would never put another wolf through what I had to go through and just because she is a human does not make me hate her. I understand that not all humans are Hunters and not all humans are hateful. She seems very sweet and I am sincere when I say this, but I still need you, Anthony. No one else can do what I ask of you now. I am sorry for this, but this must happen,” She looked to me hopefully.

“What I gather from this is that not only must I have a child with you but I must also have a son and he must take over my Alpha position over any son Dawn and I have?” I asked meeting her eyes.

“I am sorry, Anthony, but yes,” She breathed.

“You are making my feel like Dawn in useless in all of this. Why would Luna make Dawn my mate if I must do this as well? What will Dawn’s child be? Just the half brother and would-be-Alpha son of an Alpha who had a better son with a better mate to take his spot? What does that even mean?” I shook my head.

“I know this is hard, Anthony, and I am not trying to hurt you by doing this, but I need you to do this for me. I need you, Anthony,” She placed a hand on my shoulder.

“Yeah, well so does my mate,” My head dropped and I looked down towards the water.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Okay so what do you think of Lupa now? Not such a selfish bitch anymore? Anyway, I do kind of have the whole story of Lupa in my head, from beginning of the Alpha's showing up to the end with the vampires. I am not going to put it in detail in this story because I believe it is a whole other back story and that would take to much away from the plot of this story, but if you really want, I can write it and post it as a seperate little short on my page. If you want this I am going to need at least five comments convincing me to do so because writng it will take time away from writing this.

Anyway, tell me what you think ;D

Love,

~Kat
