Sleep
Shortie & Knight
*Maximus*
After my mom kept inspecting and talking with Amy, we all decided to watch a movie. Ethan and Noah were trying to get Amy to sit with either of them on the large, one-person recliner we had in the family room. Amy nicely declined and decided that she wanted to sit on the couch, but it was filled with my mom, my sisters, and Alexander. We didn't have another couch so the twins had to sit on the floor, which left us to the recliner.
I took up the whole seat and since Amy is so shy and adorable, she almost decided on sitting on the floor. I laughed and told her that she could sit on my lap, but she was scared that she was too heavy. I laughed and said that she looked like she weighed as much as Noelani or Ainsley, which made her pout like a little puppy, and sit on my lap. She weighed nothing, just like I thought, and fell asleep in the middle of the film.
When everyone saw that she was sleeping, they all left the room to watch the movie downstairs. I told them that they didn't have to, but they all said that we looked so cute together and they didn't want to ruin that by waking her up.
I looked down at Amy and smiled when she curled herself more into a ball and snuggled further into me. I didn't want to touch her, in case she woke up, but when she started to shiver I couldn't help myself. I wrapped my arms around her waist and shoulders to keep her warm, which caused her to smile lightly in her sleep.
"Wow," I whispered as I looked at her beautiful face.
"Max?" Ainsley's voice asked from behind me.
I turned my head to see her standing by the doorway. I smiled, causing her to smile and scurry inside.
"What is it?" I whispered.
She pointed to Amy. "Is she your girlfriend?"
I smiled and shook my head. "Sadly, no." She frowned. "But, you can help me get her to be my girlfriend."
"Noah and Ethan want her to be their girlfriend but I don't think she likes them. I really like Amy, Max. She should come over all the time. She's also really pretty. I hope she can teach me to get that pretty," she rambled.
I chuckled softly and looked down at Amy's face. "She is really, pretty, isn't she? Like an angle from heaven," I whispered.
Ainsley giggled. "You really like her, don't you?"
I nodded. "Love her, you mean."
Ainsley kissed my cheek and pat my head before skipping to wherever she came from.
I spent about an hour admiring Amy before Audrey came in and told me that I needed to take her home. I wanted to stay with her a bit longer, but she did have homework and would wake up anytime soon.
I was about to just pick her up and take her to her car when I realized that she could have left some stuff at my house. I softly shook her, causing her to groan softly in annoyance, and smiled when I saw her eyes flutter open.
"Hey, shortie. I gotta take you home, did you leave anything here?" I asked softly.
She shook her head and closed her eyes again. "No. My stuff is in the car."
I nodded. "Do you think you could get up, or do you need me to carry you?"
She uncurled herself from my lap and stood up in front of me, her arms above her head, telling me that she wanted me to pick her up that way. I chuckled and stood up before taking her by her waist and picked her up. She wrapped her arms around my neck and her legs around my waist before resting her head in the crook of my neck.
"Thank you, knight," she whispered before drifting of to sleep again.
I rubbed her back soothingly before answering. "Anytime, shortie."

The morning after, I woke up with a huge smile. I quickly jumped out of bed and washed my face before looking for a decent outfit. After about five minutes I decided that black ripped jeans, a maroon T-shirt, and my black leather jacket would've been the best choice in my closet. I then ran downstairs to only see Alexander wandering around for food, which told me that I was up early, and grabbed an apple before ruffling up his hair. I then grabbed my back pack, which already had my keys and phone inside of it, and walked out to my car.
When I got to school I quickly went inside and found myself going to Amy's locker. I smiled when I saw that her small self was already there, unloading her stuff into her locker. I sneakily jogged up to her and stood behind her open locker door and as soon as she closed it, she shrieked and dropped her books.
I flinched at the noise and started to bend down and pick up her stuff when I felt a shove at my chest.
"You scared me, Max! Don't do that!" She growled with a pout and crouched to pick up her stuff as I stood there in shock.
"Did you just shove me?" I asked after a few seconds.
She quickly snapped up from her crouching positions with wide eyes. "Y-yeah," she stuttered.
I smirked. "No need to get all scared on me, shortie. I'm just surprised that you shoved me."
I watched as she easily relaxed and took in her appearance. She was wearing some ripped, high-waisted mom jeans, a mustard yellow turtle-neck cropped sweater, with some black and white Adidas, and her hair resting on her shoulders.
"Looking nice as always, shortie," I complimented.
She smiled brightly and looked down at her outfit. "Thanks! I really like this outfit today and I wanted to post it online but I didn't have anyone to take a picture for me."
I nervously scratched the back of my neck. "I could take some for you."
She squealed happily and jumped up and down. "Thank you!"
She grabbed my hand and pulled me out to the soccer field at the side of the school. She then placed all her stuff on the bleachers before scurrying over to another spot and sitting down. I walked over to her once she held out her phone from her pocket and picked it up, seeing that it was already on the camera app.
"I'll tell you when you start taking the pictures, okay?" She said as she situated herself.
After a few seconds, she had found the perfect pose. One leg was lazily sprawled down two steps while the other was perched on her seat with her arms wrapped around it. She then turned to me and smiled, which made me smile.
"You can take it now!" She confirmed.
I nodded and easily found the perfect angle before taking a few pictures. I had to do this for Audrey and the twins all the time so I was used to it, but Amy made it easy. She was so gorgeous and the camera just showed the beauty of her personality and her face.
I was glad that she didn't do a serious face because Amy wasn't like that. She was adorable, nerdy, and shy and I loved that about her.
After the pictures were done she had decided that she wanted to take some of me.
I shook my head. "Nah. I'm no good at pictures. I don't even smile that great."
She shook her head. "I like your smile! Besides, you don't have to smile. You could do a serious face."
I nodded and sat down on the bleachers with my elbows resting on my knees and my hands clasped together. Amy quickly ran out in front of me and took a few pictures where I just did different non-smiling faces before she giggled.
"What?" I asked.
"You look like you're scowling at the camera." I blushed. "Come on, knight! Smile, please?" She pleaded.
I shook my head in amusement before smiling brightly at the camera. Amy quickly snapped the picture before showing them to me, and I had to admit, I looked better smiling.
"Let's take one together!" She suggested.
I nodded and took the phone from her hands and switched it to selfie mode.
"Smile for the first one and silly face for the second one, okay?" She ordered.
I nodded and smiled with her and snapped the picture. After that I stuck my tongue out while Amy made a kissy face, looking like a big bundle of joy. I snapped a few selfies of her laughing at how silly we both looked and I hoped that I wasn't looking at her all lovey-dovey.
"These are great," Amy giggled as she scrolled through the pictures.
I nodded and picked up her stuff, my back pack already on my back, and walked behind her as we walked back into the school. When we got close to her locker we saw Samantha standing there waiting for Amy. Amy put her phone in her pocket, smiled a thank you as she took her stuff, and walked over to her with me trailing behind her. Samantha squealed and hugged her before turning to me and raising an eyebrow.
"Hi, Maximus," she greeted.
I nodded. "Hey."
"Max and I took some photos by the soccer field, I'll show them to you later," Amy informed Samantha.
Samantha looked up at me and smiled. "Is that so?"
I coughed awkwardly and waved. "Well, that's my cue to leave." I ruffled Amy's hair. "Bye shortie." I turned to Samantha. "Bye Samantha."
"Bye knight!" Amy waved.
"Bye Maximus," Samantha said with a smirk.
That girl has something up her sleeve.
