I laughed at Amy's expression when she saw that I willingly went up to the stage. Milo nodded his head to me in respect before pressing a few buttons in the booth. I grabbed the microphone and smiling when "Lost in Japan" by Shawn Mendes came on. I started swaying lightly to the tune of the piano that first plays in the beginning, smiling over at Amy before I started to sing.
"All it'd take is one flight," I sang softly, winking at a beautiful woman in front of me. She was definitely older than me, maybe my mom's age, but she was still beautiful.
"We'd be in the same time zone," I smirked at another college girl sitting close to the front as well.
I kept flirting with the crowd as I sang, even dancing a little bit as I walked across. I loved the feeling of singing in front of people. It always made me smile and feel free. Like nothing could touch me, nothing could hurt me, nothing could go wrong. Everything was right with the world when I was singing, and that's probably why I had such a fun time watching Amy sing like that. She looked like she felt the same way, even if she was a little shy to do it.
"Do you got plans tonight?" I crouched down in front of a young girl, she looked to be a freshman, and held out my hand for her to take.
She shyly placed her hand inside as her friends squealed. "I'm a couple hundred miles from Japan, and I," I quickly kissed her hand and turned to another one of her friends. "I was thinking I could fly to your hotel tonight," I held out my fist for her to fist bump, which she happily obliged to.
I stood up and winked to them before turning to Amy. "Cause I-I-I can't get you off my mind," I dramatically pointed to her, "Can't get you off my mind
Can't get you off my mind (oh)."
I stepped off stage and sat in and empty chair next to a couple of college girls. They all turned to me and smiled as I sang with them. We started to groove together in our chairs, each of the girls laughing at my flirty faces. They looked to be in their twenties, and, judging by the sweatshirts on the back of their chairs, they went to NYU. After I sang a few verses with them, I got up and started making my way to Amy.
I wanted her to come up and dance with me, since she seemed more comfortable doing that instead of singing.
"Let's get lost tonight," I sang once I got to her. "Baby, you and
I can't seem to get you off my mind." I grabbed her hand and brought it to my heart. "Do you got plans tonight?
I'm a couple hundred miles from Japan, and I
I was thinking I could fly to your hotel tonight," I started to pull her towards the stage, getting fast as the beat started to speed up again. "'Cause I-I-I can't get you off my mind
I can't get you off my mind." I jumped onto the stage with Amy and smiled brightly when I saw her laugh.
I twirled her around as I sang, keeping my eyes on her the whole time. She smiled up at me as she swayed her hips side to side, her happy expression showing me that she was having a good time. I followed her movements and swayed my hips along with her, laughing just a bit at how stupid I felt.
"I can't seem to get you off my mind," I sang the last verse as I wrapped my arms around Amy's small waist.
The crowd roared happily at our ending while a few people started to scream for us to sing together. Milo came out of the booth while clapping, his smile taking up his whole face. He took the microphone from my hand and turned to the crowd.
"I see that you all want them to sing together!" He screamed. The crowd roared and clapped and whistled, each of them with a smile on their face. "Well, let's give the people what they want!"
Milo pulled out another microphone from his back pocket and gave it to Amy, giving the other one to me. He then ran back to the booth to play a song for us. Amy and I moved away from each other and waited for the song to pop onto the screen.
"I hope you can speak Spanish, Amy!" Milo said with a slight chuckle before the song popped up on the screen. It was "Hasta Luego" by HRVY and Malu Trevejo.
Amy instantly perked up at the song and smiled before turning to me with a hand on her hip. I smirked and winked at her. At the first verse I had to sing, since it was the boy's part.
"You've got them Juliet eyes
And I could be your Romeo tonight," I sang, walking over to Amy.
I placed my hands on her hips as I stood behind her, smiling as we swayed together to the beat. She was keeping a distance with her body touching mine, which kind of annoyed me but I shrugged it off. I didn't need dirty thoughts plaguing my mind while we were singing on stage in front of a bunch of people.
"She danced like she never gonna die
Blowin' up the floor like she dynamite," I twirled her out from my body and watched as she took over the stage with her dance moves.
Once it was her part she grabbed my hand and pulled me into her. I wrapped an arm around her back and smiled once she started singing. "Oh, he got me
Oh, he got me," she arched her back as I dipped her, just like they did in the music video. "Ay ay ay ay ay ay ay."
She then snapped herself up and smirked at me. I smirked right back and followed her movements across the stage. I matched her energy in each move that we did and laughed a bit at how stupid I felt when we started shimmying. Amy looked as if she was floating with the look of happiness that came across her face. I felt as if I was watching an angle up on the stage with me, and I felt so lucky.
Her hips were catching my attention and I loved the way she used them. She was so skilled in making it look so easy, though a few girls looked like a dying noodle every time they tried to shake their hips. The way she skillfully moved her arms to perfectly match her hips was something that I could never perfect. I mean, she looked like absolute magic on the stage I didn't know what I did to deserve it.
Other than ask her out of course.
"No pasa nada, está bien
HarÃa lo que sea para verte," Amy sang skillfully, surprising me with her fluent Spanish.
Now that I listened to her speak it, I noticed how she always had a little bit of an accent. I'm guessing that she learned that language as early as she learned English, which was something that she should've shown off more. I liked how her voice kind of got deeper and how her body moved more smoothly as she sang. She really was mesmerizing and I think that everyone else watching would agree with me.
She honestly was something else in it's entirety. I mean, she was shy, quiet, pretty reserved and yet so many people had an eye out for her. Ever since we were little everyone would just know that she was in the room. Whether they were looking for her or not, her presence made the room feel lighter.
When she got on stage she was the opposite of herself. Bold, flirty, and demanding. She just lit the stage up on fire with her moves and her hips made the flame burn brighter. She looked so free and careless up there that if you didn't know her personally, you'd think she's the sassiest thing on earth.
I knew that every girl was different in their own way, so saying that she was not like other girls would be stupid, but she was kind of complex to me. Like a puzzle piece that you know fits somewhere, you just don't know where because it looks like it could fit anywhere. I used to always hate those puzzles when I was little, always saying that they were too hard and that it should be easier than what it was, but then I met Amy. I started to get to know her and finally, I started to like her. And after talking to her for almost a month, I've come to the conclusion that I love those kinds of puzzles.
Because that's what Amy was, a puzzle.
After the song was over, the whole crowd cheered so loud that Amy and I covered our ears. I couldn't even hear my thoughts because they were so loud. I guess our chemistry was something else; a good mix, if you will.
Milo came onto the stage with a huge grin and politely asked Amy for her microphone.
"Did you like that performance?" He asked the audience playfully.
Everyone cheered again, not as loud that time, and smiled widely at Milo.
"Well, its time that we choose who's gonna get some free drinks for an entire month!" He pulled out a little remote and pressed a button so that it showed all of the people's names who had sung on stage that night. Each name had a little meter that would measure how loud the crowd screamed. Whoever's meter got the loudest scream, would get the free drinks.
"Now, who do you think won..."

"I can't believe we wo-" Amy was about to cheer but was cut off by a large flash of lightning followed by crashing thunder. She shrieked in surprise and pulled us back under the roof of the bar. Rain started to pour from the sky at an alarming rate and winds started to blow. It looked like a hurricane was coming, yet it was only late September.
"Holy shit! How in the world did this happen? The forecast said nice summer night," I grumbled.
Amy shrugged. "I didn't bring an umbrella, did you?"
I shook my head. "It seems as though we're going to have to run and drive in that."
She sighed before squeezing my hand and sprinting to the the car. I kept up with her pace easily and almost slipped five times. I was so happy once we got to my car but frowned once I realized that we were going to get the seats wet. Our clothes were so easily soaked in a matter of milliseconds that it looked like we had just swam in a pool. I sighed happily once we got into the car, smiling over to Amy who was giggling a little bit.
I put on my seatbelt after a few seconds, waiting for Amy to do the same, and turned on the car. I tried to look behind me to reverse, but frowned when I couldn't see a thing from the back window. It was blurry from all of the water and it didn't like like it was going to become clear so easily. It was a good thing my car had camera's so I could see without looking behind me.
"I don't know how we're going to get you home in this weather," I mumbled in concentration.
She shrugged and stared out of the window. "I don't know. It's really bad out there. I hope we'll be oka-" A strike of lightning lit up the whole night sky which was soon followed by a clap of thunder, causing Amy to squeak in fear. The rain started to pour harder until it was almost too hard to see.
I cursed and swerved the car, nearly missing another car that had lost control in the rain. I tried to check and see if they were okay, but I couldn't tell if my windshield wipers were even working because of all the rain blurring my vision. I was lucky enough to make out a familiar street sign and quickly pull into my neighborhood. I easily found my house, since I was quite used to driving into the street that I didn't even need to see, and pulled into my driveway. As soon as I parked, I turned to Amy and sighed in relief. She had wide eyes and looked like she was very afraid to run out in the rain, I was too, but our garage was filled with all of our toys from when Audrey and I were little to Noelani and Ainsley now.
"You ready?" I asked.
Amy shook her head no. "Not really."
I smiled. "Me neither."
I nodded my head at Amy before the both of us pushed our doors open as fast as we could. We slammed the doors shut and ran as fast as we could to my front door. Amy was trying to use her jacket to cover her hair, but it was no use, the rain was getting everywhere. On the bright side, as soon as we got onto the porch Ainsley opened the door for us. I was so happy that we didn't have to wait outside for a good thirty seconds for me to find my key and unlock the door, that would've been a pain.
"MAX IS BACK!" Ainsley screamed at the top of her lungs as soon as Amy and I stepped in.
There was a handful of pounding steps before all of my family emerged from different areas of the house. The twins came bolting in from the kitchen, my mother came from upstairs with Audrey and Noelani, and Alexander came from the basement. My mother immediately ran over to me, followed by Noelani, and started to check if I was okay. Ainsley was already inspecting me with an amused look on her face. The twins, Alexander, and Audrey, however, were checking Amy and making sure that she was fine.
My family had only met her once and they were already in love with the girl.
"My baby! We need to get your big self out of those wet clothes and into your pjs!" My mother cooed as she kissed my wet cheeks.
"Are you okay, Max a million?" Noelani asked timidly.
Ainsley answered for me. "Oh, he's a big boy," she pat my stomach for good measure, "He's fine."
I chuckled at the three girls surrounding me. "You guys, I'm fine." I pushed my mother away slightly. "I just need some space so I can go and change, okay?"
"Are you okay, Amy?" Alexander asked as he rubbed his neck, a thing he does when he's nervous.
Amy nodded. "I'm fi-"
Ethan slapped Alexander's back, and from the sound of it, it was a hard slap. "What the heck do you mean? Of course she isn't okay! She's soaked!"
Noah took off his sweatshirt and placed it in Amy's hands. "Here you go, you can wear this to bed tonight."
Amy blushed and bit on her bottom lip. "Thank you? I can just go back home and use my own pajamas, it's not like I'm staying the night."
Audrey scoffed at the same time as my mother. "You cannot drive home in that weather!" They-more or less- exclaimed together.
"But I don't want to be a burden, besides, I'm sure my mom and dad are worried about me," Amy said as she handed Noah back his sweatshirt.
"You wouldn't be a burden, honey. Besides, if your parents care about you, I'm sure that they wouldn't want you to drive home in this weather," my mother cooed as she walked over to Amy.
Amy looked down at her wet shoes. "I don't know, Elm. I just don't want to cause any trouble."
"How about you call your parents, I'll talk to them, and we'll see if you can stay over, okay?" My mom suggested.
Noah and Ethan turned to Amy with hopeful faces. "Please, Amy?" They asked.
Amy looked up at them and smiled shyly. "Okay, I'll call them." She reached into her back pocket and pulled out her phone, which wasn't really that soaked, and dialed her parent's number.
"I really hope she can stay the night," Noelani whispered to Ainsley.
"So do I. And by the looks of it, all of the boys want her to stay over too."
All of us? As in, Alexander too? Does he like Amy too? Do I really have another boy liking my girl?
