Playing The Straight Game [boyxboy]

Farren looked up at the sound of footsteps entering the den, where he was sat with Jesse playing video games.

Luke entered the room, followed by Kaden. Jesse paused the game, and Farren took a moment to take in the two boys that had just entered. Man did Kaden look good in navy.

Wait what?

What the fuck was that, Farren thought to himself. 'Kaden looked good in navy' he mimicked himself mentally. What was he even thinking. He shook them thoughts out of his head, he must just be tired. That was surely the only possible explanation.

The boys exchanged hellos with each other and Farren got up from his armchair. He called it his armchair because for as long as he could remember, he had always sat there when he was with Jesse. It was just known as 'Farren's chair,' even when the other guys were over.

"Hey, Luke isn't it?" He asked, deciding to introduce himself to Jesse's roommate and Kaden's long time best friend. Well maybe not best friend, it seemed as if Kaden wasn't the type to bother with that. But whatever, they were close anyway.

Farren could see that Kaden and Jesse were also greeting each other, and so far everything seemed to be going good.

Luke smiled back. "Yeah that's me, and of course your Farren. Kaden doesn't stop gushing on about you the whole time," he smirked, catching Kaden's attention.

Kaden punched Luke on the shoulder. "I'd say I definitely do that Luke." He retorted sarcastically, rolling his eyes.

Farren just smirked at Kaden. "What's wrong Kadey, embarrassed are we?" He winked.

"Embarrassed that I'm friends with a prick like Luke, yes I am." Retorted Kaden without so much as a blink.

Luke feigned a look of hurt before walking over to where Jesse sat on the couch and plonking himself down next to him, and Farren made his way over to the shelf.

"Jess I'm sick of playing video games can we just watch a movie?" He asked, earning an agreement from Kaden and Jesse and a whiny noise of disapproval from Luke.

"Too bad Luke, three against one," smirked Farren without turning around. He scanned the shelf of DVDs, his eyes scamming over the movies.

"What about The Blind Side?" He asked over his shoulder.

"Dude we've seen that like two hundred times." Complained Jesse.

Farren just huffed in annoyance before continuing to scan the movies.

"Miss Congeniality?" He asked hopefully. Though he could guess what they were going to say. Still, it was worth a shot.

"Dude, seriously? I didn't know they let girls on your football team." This time it was Luke who spoke, and Farren could almost hear him roll his eyes.

Scanning the shelf for another moment, his eyes finally settled on the perfect movie. "I know, what about Speed?" He asked excitedly, turning around.

He stopped short, almost dropping the DVD out of his hand when his eyes landed on Kaden, who was sitting on an armchair.

Not just any armchair though. It was Farren's armchair. He fixed Kaden with a death glare, who just looked up at him with confusion.

Jesse looked up from his phone and saw what was going on. He guffawed, realising what was happening. Jesse knew more than anyone that that armchair was reserved for him, and him alone.

"Oh man. Kaden you might wanna.. move. Farren sort of.. owns that chair." Said Jesse, and Farren could here the humour in his voice.

Realisation dawned on Kaden's face and he let out a laugh. "Your chair is it?" He said, this time facing Farren, "well actually I'm quite comfortable here so I think I'm just gonna stay put, thanks." He said with his usual smirk, this time throwing in a wink.

"Kaden can't you find somewhere else to sit," He said, eyeing the other boy with distaste, "that's my seat," he huffed.

"Unlucky"

"Prick"

"I am, amn't I"

"Amn't is not a word"

"And this is not your chair." Kaden smirked.

"Fine so," huffed Farren, "your not going to stop me from sitting on my favourite chair." He said, a sneaky smile making it's way into his face as an idea crossed his mind.

"Try me." Challenged Kaden, a sneaky smile of his own on his face.

"Fine. You asked for it." Said Farren as he handed Jesse the DVD to put on and made his way over to the armchair. He threw himself down on to the armchair, not caring if he hurt Kaden. He deserved it.

"What th- Jesus Christ Farren move your fat ass," said Kaden, and Farren could feel him squirming around underneath him. But he wasn't going to give in, Kaden had to know he couldn't just shove him around.

He heard the other boys laughing at him, and glanced up to noticed Jesse and Luke looking at them with amusement, before shaking their heads in unison and smiling.

Eventually Kaden gave up trying to push Farren off her and instead decided to try and get comfortable. The armchair was a recliner, so when Kaden pulled out the leg rest Farren realised he was basically lying on Kaden's lap.

Oh well.

The movie started and Farren snuggled himself down more into the armrest.

"Stop fucking moving." Kaden whispered, his hot breath fanning Farren's neck, making him very aware of the boy behind him. He just gave him the middle finger before turning back to the screen.

Man he loved this movie. But for some reason, he was having a harder time focusing on it than usual. He blamed it on the fact that he'd seen it so many times before.

It couldn't possibly have anything to do with the fact that he was sat basically on Kaden Rivers lap with their legs tangled together like a web of limbs.

He didn't even allow himself to entertain the possibility. Of course it didn't.

But when, halfway through the movie, Kaden began to absentmindedly trace circles on his forearm, he couldn't help but tense up.

He slapped Kaden's hand away before he could notice, shooting him a dirty look.

Kaden just gave him a confused look, before turning back to the movie. The bastard didn't even realise he was doing it.

Whatever, it wasn't a big deal, Farren thought to himself as he struggled to regain his composure. But even as he thought that he couldn't help but become more aware of Kaden's right arm which was around his waist and resting on the armrest next to him.

Farren was brought back to earth when he a loud bang sounded from the television. He focused all his attention on the movie and it wasn't long until he had all but forgotten about Kaden and his armchair situation.

Kaden sat into Farren's car after saying his goodbyes to Luke and Jesse. It was just gone ten o'clock, which was fine with Kaden. He was tired, he wanted to sleep. One of the perks of being a teenage boy, he supposed, was being constantly tired.

One thing he did have to admit to himself was that his opinion on Jesse wasn't exactly accurate, he seemed perfectly capable of saying and doing what he wanted around Farren.

Maybe Farren and Jesse's friendship wasn't as much of a shrek-and-donkey situation.

Jesse was actually pretty cool, he reminded him of Luke but less.. whiny. More chill. All in all it was a pretty good evening. And Luke wasn't lying when he said Jesse's mother could cook. Damn that lasagna was something else.

At first he didn't really want to impose but it turned out that they had such a big family that Jesse's mother was always making extra, just in case one of her children had friends over. Which suited him just fine.

He looked up at the sound of Farren sitting into the car. "Well, how did you find it?" Farren asked, as the car hummed to life.

"Apart from your fat self sitting on me, it was pretty good." He admitted.

"Oh please Rivers, you were loving it," retorted Farren with a wink.

"Queer," was all he muttered in reply. The truth was he didn't exactly hate Farren sitting on him. Not at all in fact. But of course he didn't admit that to himself.

Farren just laughed, focusing his attention on the road, and Kaden found that he himself was holding back a smile. A real smile this time, not his second nature smirk.

"So.. what do you think of Jesse?" asked Farren, curiosity evident in his voice.

"So much more bearable than you, I wish he was my roommate," sighed Kaden, feigning disappointment.

"You don't mean that."

"Oh but I do"

"Think about it Rivers, if you were rooming with Jess you wouldn't have the privilege of sharing a bed with yours truly," said Farren.

"Sounds like a treat," replied Kaden, "no more putting up with your loud snoring."

Farren snorted. "Me? Snoring? You do realise you fall asleep before me." He said in amusement.

"Sure you do," retorted Kaden sarcastically, even though he knew Farren was probably right. All he needed was a place to rest his head and he would be out like a light. He almost considered it a talent of his.

"If you want I can get a picture to prove it next time," Farren replied, no trace of a humour in his voice.

"You wouldn't dare," Kaden shot up in his seat so fast he nearly surprised himself.

"Oh but I would," smirked Farren back.

Damn him and his stupid smirk.

By now they had pulled into Farrens driveway and he killed the engine.

"Go for it," Kaden replied, his mouth curling upwards, "I'll just tell everyone you have a bed wetting problem." Now it was his turn to smirk.

Farren scowled. "Fine so, how about we make an agreement. I won't say anything about you to anyone and vice versa. And no sleeping pictures either."

Farren held out his hand for him to shake, and for a moment Kasen contemplated his offer, weighing out the pros and cons before coming to the conclusion that it would be better off for the both of them.

He reluctantly took Farren's hand and shook it. "Deal," he said.

The boys shook hands and there was something about the handshake that was off. Maybe it was the fact that neither of the boys said anything. Or maybe it was the fact that it lasted slightly longer than the usual handshake.

Not a significantly longer amount of time. It was only two or three seconds longer that an average handshake. A small enough difference that Kaden could convince himself that it was purely his imagination.

Or maybe it wasn't. Kaden dropped Farren's hand and decided to act like nothing was off.

"Let's go inside, your car smells like the Jefferson High Lions and the strong scent of failure is making me feel sick. Perhaps because I'm not used to it," said Kaden and just like that he was back. Back to his usual self.

"Whatever man," replied Farren, rolling his eyes and stepping out of the car, Kaden following behind him.

They made their way inside and headed into the kitchen, where they were greeted by Grace and Jenny.

"Hi boys, how was your evening at Jesse's?" Jenny asked, a warm smile on her face.

"Good" both the boys said in unison, with a nod of their heads.

"That's great. Did you eat?" This time it Grace that spoke.

"Yeah we had dinner," said Farren.

"Oh okay, we left you both dinner just in case, if your still hungry you can have it."

Kaden looked at Farren with a shrug. He could still eat, after all, if there was one thing Kaden Rivers was good at it was eating. He was famous among his friends for being able to eat a whole pizza, then a Chinese takeout straight after.

In his opinion any opportunity for food is an opportunity not to be missed.

"That'd be great thanks," said Kaden with a smile, making his way into the kitchen with Farren hot on his heels.

The boys took each a seat across from each other on the island after Farren put the two dinner plates into the microwave. It was chilli con carne and rice, which he loved. Then again, what food didn't he love.

Farren placed a glass in front of him. "Help yourself to any drinks from the fridge," he said. "But nothing alcoholic," he added hastily when he noticed the smirk that made it's way onto Kaden's face.

Kaden pouted. "Ah go on, just one beer?" he asked hopefully.

"No Kaden! We can't drink in my house. Besides, I doubt you'd find any in there anyways, Grace and Jenny aren't big drinkers."

"Fine," he huffed, before making his way over to the fridge and grabbing the milk carton.

He sat back down at the island and poured himself a glass of milk. Farren placed his now reheated dinner in front of him and sat down facing Kaden with his own dinner.

He wasted no time before digging into the meal. Man this was good, he thought to himself as he shovelled the food into his mouth.

It took him a mere few minutes to finish the meal and when he did he looked up to see Farren staring down at him in disbelief, only half of his own meal gone.

"Jesus Christ Kaden, how can you eat so much so fast," asked Farren with shock.

"I'm a growing boy," smirked Kaden.

"Only physically."

"What's that supposed to mean," bit back Kaden.

"Mentally you haven't grown since the age of five I'm guessing," smirked Farren in reply.

Kaden gave him the middle finger and rolled his eyes, and Farren just laughed in reply.
