Barbara gestured toward Audrey and pursed her l*ps. “Audrey said she went on a blind date and met a rich and handsome young man.”

Tyler’s smile deepened. “Mrs. Griffin, the rich and handsome young man she’s talking about is ”

“Tyler,” Audrey stood up and said, “I suddenly remembered something I wanted to talk to you about. Come with me.”

After speaking, she walked out ahead.

Tyler swallowed the rest of his words. “Mrs. Griffin, I’ll come back later to chat with

Barbara waved her hand. “Go on. Audrey has a temper.

“Why are you here?” Audrey asked in a low voice as soon as Tyler came out.

Tyler looked at her. “I happened to be passing by, so I came to visit Mrs. Griffin. I didn’t. expect you to be here, too.”

“Oh, what a coincidence.”

“What? Do you think I had someone follow you?”

Audrey took a deep breath. “I got fired. Did you have something to do with it? Tyler, why are you still so childish?”

Tyler frowned at her words. “Why did you get fired?”

“You didn’t do it?” Audrey paused, unable to think of anyone else who could make the manager say such things.

“Audrey, if really wanted to retaliate against you, do you think making you lose your job would be enough?” Tyler leaned in closer. “If I were to take action, you would be in

tears.

Audrey looked at the person suddenly approaching her and couldn’t help but flash back to the image of him k*ssing her last night. She immediately pushed him away.

Tyler steadied himself “You’d better quit that lousy job of yours. Why don’t you…”

“No need,” Audrey interrupted him directly. “I don’t need your pity.”

Tyler laughed. “Audrey, who said I was gonna pity you?”

“I meant, why don’t you beg me? I might give you a job, perhaps.”

Audrey knew that this person couldn’t be trusted. “Beg you? Not before you beg me.

“Fine, I’m begging you.”

Audrey was at a loss for words.

The two of them stood face to face, staring at each other.

In the end, Tyler averted his gaze. “You just won’t admit that you progress in these years, and you’re even more foolish than before.”

Audrey was no match for Tyler in terms of arguing.

Audrey paused for a moment but didn’t turn around to look at him. She was not in the mood to quarrel with him anymore.

“Did you agree to this marriage proposal?”

The previous night, it was Audrey who asked him if their relationship was set in stone. Now, it was him asking her if she had agreed.

Audrey remained silent for a few seconds. “If it’s a marriage alliance, then this marriage proposal is inevitable.”

However, the person he would have to marry would be Amelia, not her.

Tyler, for once, didn’t think too much about it. He said in a calm tone of voice, “I see.”

Audrey didn’t linger and stepped into the hospital room.

“That rich and handsome young man from earlier. I’m tired of looking at you. I want to feast my eyes on a handsome young man.”

Audrey approached and sat down by the bedside. “Even if you’re tired of looking at me, you have no other choice.

“At least they have a bit of conscience now.”

Audrey didn’t respond and silently massaged Barara’s legs.

“Tyler,” Audrey corrected Barbara. “His name is Tyler Russell.”

The smile on Barbara’s face disappeared, and she looked at Audrey for a few seconds. “I’m a bit tired. You should leave and not disturb my rest.”

Watching Barbara lie back down and turn away from her, Audrey sat for a while before. getting up. “I’ll come to see you another day. I need to go find a job these days.”

After Audrey left, Barbara sat up and sighed heavily in the direction of the door She had always been strong–willed, and she had always found fault with Audrey, disapproving of Audrey in every way. Audrey had just walked out of the hospital when her phone rang.

Amelia’s words made Audrey’s grip on her phone tighten involuntarily. “When are you coming?”

“Just wait for me.” Amelia hung up the phone without further explanation.

Audrey waited at the hospital entrance for a while and decided to go to the café across the street. She waited there for a full half an hour before Amelia finally arrived.

“Here’s 20 thousand dollars. Take it for now. After I settle things with Tyler, I’ll give you 200 thousand dollars.” Amelia went straight to the point.

Looking at the bank card Amelia handed her, Audrey looked at her and asked, “What do you take me for? A beggar?

Amelia’s face darkened. “Audrey, don’t push your luck. Who do you think you are? I’m. already generous enough to give you 20 thousand dollars.”

Audrey looked at her calmly. “Marrying Tyler is worth more than just 20 thousand dollars.”

Hearing this, Amelia frowned and softened her tone. “Didn’t I say that I’ll give you 200 thousand dollars after I settle things with Tyler?”

“In your opinion, are the Russell family and Tyler only worth 220 thousand dollars?”

Audrey’s words made Amelia lose her patience. “What do you want then ”

“Let me calculate it for you,” Audrey said calmly.

Amelia impatiently asked, “I don’t need you to calculate anything for me. I don’t owe you anything. Besides, what qualifications do you have to negotiate with me? You can’t even support yourself right now. If I give you 20 thousand dollars, it’s only because of our parents.”
