Chapter 4
Married To My Dearest Enemy by Jared Mandel
Chapter 4
Tylerâs denial surprised Audrey.
âDonât you remember? During your sophomore year, she and her friends blocked your way after school andâ¦â
âSpeaking of that, I remember now. Tyler interrupted Amelia, his tone cold as he said, âIf it werenât for you that day, maybe Audrey and I would have been together carlier.â
âWhat?â Ameliaâs voice rose in surprise. She was not able to believe what she had just heard. âSheâ¦â
âMiss Griffin, I know how Audrey treated me. Tylerâs tone turned colder.
Being interrupted twice by Tyler, Amelia was almost unable to hold back her anger. If she had known earlier that Audrey was going on a blind date with Tyler, she would have definitely taken Audreyâs place.
How could something so good happen to Audrey?â Amelia wondered, gritting her teeth.
âAudrey,â Hannah whispered.
Audrey looked up.
âDid Tyler use to bully you?â Hannah asked.
Audrey hesitated, not knowing how to answer for a moment. If they were talking about bullying, she should be the one who bullied him at every turn.
Before she could answer, Tyler turned his head to look at her. âDid I bully you?â
Meeting his deep gaze, Audrey felt a little guilty.
âTyler doesnât seem like someone who would bully others.â Emma pinched Audrey hard under the table, signaling her not to speak recklessly.
Audrey shook her head reluctantly. âNo.â
Throughout the meal, Audrey was in a daze. Tyler seemed like a completely different person, constantly serving her food and being so gentle that she couldnât tell if she was having a dream.
Based on their previous adversarial relationship, Tyler was bound to make her feel embarrassed. But he was considerate in every way, without a hint of insincerity.
When they parted at the door, Hannah looked at Audrey, , âAudrey, come to our house with Tyler another day.â

âIâ¦â Audrey stuttered.
âIâll tell you Tylerâs secret then.â Before Audrey could finish her sentence, Hannah. interrupted her softly.
Hannahâs enthusiasm made it difficult for Audrey to decline.
She reluctantly agreed, under the threatening gaze of Emma. âOkay.â
Emma approached Hannah and said, âThen Hannah, come to our house for a meal. another day. Youâre welcome to come over anytime.â
After learning about the Russell familyâs background, Emma tried harder to get closer to them, her tone of voice appearing more respectful.
It was as if this engagement was already set in stone.
Before getting in the car, Hannah said to Tyler, âItâs still early. Why donât you and Audrey take a walk?â
âYeah, exactly. Let Audrey accompany Tyler for a walk. Weâll go back first.â Emma knew that they had formed connections with the Russell family, so her tone toward Audrey became much softer.
âMom, Audrey has been working all this time. How would she know what interesting. places there are in Willowdale?â Amelia chimed in, âTyler, youâve been away from Willowdale for so long. Let me show you around. What do you. think?â
Tyler pulled Audrey closer to him and said softly, âNo need. Audrey will show me around.â
Amelia felt extremely embarrassed by such a straightforward rejection. However, thinking of the fact that Audrey was going to marry Tyler, she couldnât dwell on her embarrassment.
âDonât worry about it. Weâll be family soon.â Amelia stepped forward and linked arms âAmelia stepped forward and linked arms with Audrey. âAudrey, Iâll go with you, okay?â
Audrey knew exactly what Amelia was up to, and she directly refused, âNo need. Iâve always been in Willowdale, Are there any interesting places in Willowdale that you know but I donât?â
The smile on Ameliaâs face froze, and she glared at Audrey, pretending to be wronged. âI⦠I just wanted to hang out with you guys â
âIf Amelia wants to go, just take her along. Why argue about it?â Emma interrupted Audrey sounding a bit displeased. âThe places youâve been are definitely not of interest to Tyler. Let Amelia take you to some interesting places.â

Hearing Emmaâs words, Audrey didnât speak anymore. Amelia happily looked at Tyler and said, âTyler, Willowdale has changed a lot in these years. Iâll take you to see the places we used toâ¦â
Tylerâs phone rang just as Amelia was trying to strike up a conversation with him.
He answered the call, and the person on the other end of the phone said something to him. Tyler smiled and said, âSure, weâre heading over now.â
Hanging up the phone, Tyler pulled Audrey closer. Iâll take you somewhere.â
âAudrey.â Just as Tyler opened the passenger seat for Audrey to get in, Amelia softly called Audrey.
Audrey turned to look at her.
âAudrey, I get a little car sick. Can I sit in the front?â Amelia asked.
Audrey wanted to laugh, but she didnât. She had never seen Amelia get car sick, of
course.
Without waiting for Audreyâs response, Amelia quickly got into the passenger seat. âTyler, letâs go.â
Tyler glanced at Amelia and asked, âCan you drive?â
Amelia hesitated for a moment and nodded, replying truthfully, âYes, I can.â
âI heard that people who get car sick usually donât get sick when theyâre the ones. driving, so why donât you drive?â Tyler suggested.
With that, Tyler held Audreyâs hand and sat in the backseat with her.
Seeing the two sitting side by side, Amelia gritted her teeth and had no choice but to get out of the car and sit in the driverâs seat. She had originally planned to sit in the passenger seat and get closer to Tyler. She never expected to end up as their free. chauffeur.
âGo to Dreamwood.â Tyler stated the address.
Audrey looked the person sitting next to her through the reflection on the car window and regretted not speaking up to refuse Amelia earlier.
Sitting in the passenger seat at least provided some distance between Audrey and Tyler, but sitting so close to him made her feel uncomfortable all over. She tried to sit as close to the car window as possible.
âIs my car a bit small?â Suddenly, Tylerâs voice sounded in her ear.

Tyler adjusted his sitting position, narrowing the distance Audrey had created between them. âThereâs no more space left.â
Audrey said, âYou can move a bit to the side.â
Tyler didnât respond and simply closed his eyes to take a nap.
Fortunately, the distance from Grandeur Hotel to Dreamwood wasnât far, and they arrived quickly.
As soon as the car stopped, Audrey got out of the car.
Tyler watched Audreyâs almost fleeing appearance and couldnât help but smile. He got out of the car, saying to her, âLetâs go inside.â
âSorry, Tyler, but I suddenly feel unwell. Why donât you go up first? I want Audrey to accompany me to the restroom,â Amelia apologized to Tyler after getting out of the car.
Tyler looked at Audrey with a meaningful look in his eyes.
Audrey also wanted to know what her sister was up to, so she nodded at Tyler. âYou go
up
first. Iâll accompany her.â
Tyler said in a low voice, âDreamroom No. 1. Come up when you finish.â
Audrey nodded.
âDo you really think Tyler would be willing to marry you?â Amelia asked sarcastically as soon as they reached the restroom door.
âI donât think so,â Audrey calmly replied.
âHe dislikes you so much, so he definitely wonât marry you. You better not have any delusions.â Amelia stood in front of the sink, touching up her makeup and saying, âDidnât you say you didnât want to marry him? Then why did you come to meet his parents?â
Audrey looked at her, saying in a cold tone of voice, âDonât you know why I came here?â
If it werenât for her grandmotherâs medical expenses, she would never have come.
Amelia finished fixing her makeup and sneered. âI didnât expect you to care so much. about that old woman. Well, donât you hate her for not treating you well before?â
âWhat exactly do you want to say?â Audrey asked.
