Chapter 20
Married To My Dearest Enemy by Jared Mandel
Chapter
Audrey nodded. âYou too.â
David got out of the car to help Audrey take out her suitcase from the trunk. âLet me help you take this up, Miss Griffin.â
âNo, thereâs no need. I donât have many things in there. Itâs really light.â
David didnât insist. He just nodded his head politely. âGoodbye, Miss Griffin.â
After getting back into the car, David waited for Tyler to give the word before starting the car and leaving.
Audrey headed upstairs and looked at the passcode Gary had sent her.
When she opened the door and walked inside, she was shocked by what was in front of her.
She couldnât believe a house with such facilities and decoration was just a dorm.
Was she seeing things, or did she arrive at the wrong place?
Audrey was in a daze for a while before coming back to her senses and making a call.
The call was soon answered. âWhat is it, Audrey?â
âMr. Greenwood, are you sure youâve given me the right address?â
âWhatâs wrong? Can you not find the place?â asked Gary. âDo you want me to come over and take you there?â
âIâve found the place, but from the looks of this place⦠I donât dare move in,â said Audrey.
Gary realized what was going on and smiled. âDonât worry. You can move in. The rent of the previous dorm has expired, and I havenât had time to renew the contract. This is a house that Iâve bought myself, Now that Iâve moved into a bigger house with my wife, this house was left empty. If you feel itâs a little inappropriate, how about I deduct some rent from your wage?â
In the end, he would be the one who made the decision as to whether to deduct the rent or not anyway.
After hearing those words, Audrey nodded. âNo problem. You can deduct the rent directly from my wages,
After hanging up, Audrey looked at the facilities of the house. She felt like she had won

a prize.
After all, in such an expensive place the city, most people wouldnât be able to afford to rent a house, let alone buy one.
After looking around, Audrey liked the place even more. No matter if it was the style or the settings. She even liked all the furniture. They were her favorites.
Since the housing problem was solved, Audrey suddenly didnât feel so empty deep down.
She had a place to live in a city as big as Willowdale.
During the years in the Griffin family, she had everything she wanted, but she had never been as comfortable as now.
In a private room on the third floor of Dreamwood.
Tyler remained silent ever since he arrived. Christopher went and sat down beside him with a glass of wine in his hand. He then passed the wine glass in his hand over to Tyler. âYou call me over to have a drink, and youâre just going to let me watch you pretend to be all depressed?â
âDidnât you say that she hadnât been together with anyone?â Tyler took the wine glass. from Christopher and asked.
When Christopher heard those words, immediately realized what was going on. âWhat? Had Audrey been together with someone? Who is it? Whoâs so capable as to take Miss Griffinâs heart?â
As soon as Christopher said those words, he received a menacing glare from Tyler.
Christopher coughed lightly. âFor the years that youâve been away, Iâve been keeping an eye on Audrey. Her group of friends hadnât changed after you were gone. When the Griffin family was in trouble, all her friends avoided her like she was some plague. After that, she had always been alone. Why would I lie to you?â
Tyler downed the wine in the glass in one gulp. Then whoâs Joshua Simmons?â
âWho? Joshua Simmons?â Christopher couldnât help but raise his voice.
Tyler told Christopher about him and Audrey bumping into Joshua.
After hearing what Tyler said, Christopher shook his head. âIâve never heard of him, and Iâve never seen Audrey have any friends donât know about.â
âShe had been quite enthusiastic towards him and took the initiative to walk over to him as wellâ

Tylerâs words sounded like he was jealous in Christopherâs ears.
âWhat about his attitude towards Audrey?â
âHe likes her.â
Christopher cocked his brows. âDoes Audrey like him as well?
Tylerâs voice immediately turned cold. âIf she canât see properly, then I donât mind taking her to an eye surgery.
âI canât believe youâ¦â Christopher laughed.
He then suddenly changed the subject. âHow about you be a little more straightforward? If you play the long game and catch the big fish, your fish might be already taken away from you by the time youâre ready.â
âNo! Sheâll run away from me,â said Tyler.
âIf she runs, then you can go after her!â said Christopher.
The conversation between the two of them ended there.
Tyler lit a cigarette and stood up. âIâm going now.â
âYouâre going already?â Christopher raised his head and looked at Tyler. âHow about I give you some ideas?â
âThereâs no need. No one knows her better than I do.â
Christopher was rendered speechless.
Audrey was woken up in the morning by a bombardment of calls.
She reached out for her phone and looked at the screen through her squinted eyes. When she saw the calling ID, she became awake instantly.
She quickly answered the call. âDr. Parker?â
âAudrey, you need to come to the hospital.â Ethanâs voice was serious. âYouâd better come right now.â
Audrey quickly got out of bed. âOkay. Iâm on my way now.â
Before hanging up the call, Audrey asked, âDr. Parker, my grandmother alright?â
âSheâs fine. Weâll talk about the rest when you arrive.â
âOkay,â said Audrey.

Chapter 20
After hanging up, Audrey quickly washed up, got changed, and headed towards the hospital.
On her way to the hospital, Audrey texted Gary and asked for half a day off.
After arriving at the hospital, Audrey headed straight to the ward but didnât see Barbara.
Audreyâs heart skipped a beat. She then went to Ethanâs office.
âDr. Parkerâ¦
âYouâre here. Take a seat first.â Ethan had a serious expression on his face.
Audrey asked, desperate as she sat down, âWhereâs my grandmother? Why isnât she in her ward?
âShe was forced to transfer to another hospital.â Ethan passed a transfer application form to Audrey. âYour parents signed it.â
Audrey reached out, took the form, and looked at it. There were Joseph and Emmaâs signatures on it.
There was also the hospitalâs stamp.
âWhy werenât I notified?â Audrey gave Ethan a confused look.
âYour parents were present, so you werenât needed. Besides, the patient agreed as well.â After a short pause, Ethan said, âBut my suggestion was against the transfer of hospitals. Mrs. Griffinâs condition might not look critical at the moment, but the hospital she was transferring to doesnât have a good reputation. The drugs they use arenât as advanced as us either.â
Ethan told the pros and cons of the new hospital to Audrey. âYou can head back and try to convince your parents.â
When Audrey heard those words, she nodded. âI understand. Thank you, Dr. Parkerâ
Ethan saw the attitude of the Griffin family members, and he quite pitied Audrey. âAs a doctor, I donât want anything to happen to my patients.â
Audrey thanked Ethan and then walked out of the hospital to take a taxi back to the Griffin familyâs house.
When she arrived, she saw Joseph and Emma coming out from inside the house. It seemed that they were going out.
When they saw Audrey/they were a little stunned.

Emma looked at Audrey in disgust. âWhat are you doing back here?â
âWhy didnât you transfer Grandma to another hospital?â asked Audrey.
OK 88%
Joseph scolded, âWatch your attitude! Weâre doing this for her own good. Do you think the drugs are good for her? All drugs are poisonous!â
